Lewis Hamilton was gifted a top seat BECAUSE his talent impressed so much that a top team wanted him & because Lewis smashed every goal that mclaren set 4 him.
LH earned that seat through his achievements & theres no way any top team would give a seat to a rookie if he wasnt impressive enough.

No other driver (in his generation) has had the same chance in a top team from the start because they obviously didnt impress the team as much as Lewis did.
@xxtheleegendxx There were other teams on the grid- BMW-WIlliams, Mclaren, Honda and Toyota that had similar budgets. But their drivers didn't utilise their cars as well as Schumacher did. That's why he's a 7 time champ, while Hakkinen got 2, Hill, Villeneuve, Raikkonen 1, Montoya, Ralf Schumacher, Coulthard 0.

@Euclides287 On Schumacher's first full season he already beat Aryton Senna. Schumacher finished 3rd overall, just behind the two Williams who were way ahead of everyone. And it's not like he had a better car: he was driving on Benetton and Senna on McLaren, and McLaren actually beat Benetton on points. You should really look at his earlier years as well, not just the dominant Ferrari years. Some impressive stuff there too. Don't even begin to compare a legend with a newboy like Hamilton yet.

I don´t know since when you´re watching F1, but in the 90s Benneton was a TOP TEAM like McLaren and Ferrari. Even Williams was as good as Red Bull Racing today. So Schumacher was in a top team from his 2nd season.

You somehow seem to forget Hamilton beat Alonso, already a two time world champion at that point. Senna beat Prost in the same car too you know. Unlike Schumacher who only had handpicked number 2's as his team mates. Surely you don't put drivers like Brundle, Verstappen, Herbert, Irvine and Barrichello with the likes of Fernando Alonso or Alain Prost?
Also, Ferrari were better in some races of 2007, and judging by Kimi's 10 fastest laps in 2008, Ferrari had a better car that year.
Ferrari wasn't "very worse". Their facilities have always been top notch and they always had a budget most other dreams could only dream of, including Williams in their dominating years.Fair enough Schumacher developed them into a winner, but mostly because he took several engineers and other people with him from Benetton.
In 1999 Irvine was nearly champion. In a bad Ferrari? I think not. Salo led a race in 1999. After Schumacher left Raikkonen was champion and Massa nearly in '08

Whats more even in a better car he wouldnt of beat Senna and Mansell in his rookie year no way. @SonGoku87 Schumacher did not win the title in his rookie season. He won it in his 3rd season. And when at Benetton Flav was throwing more money at the team than you could shake a stick at. In 94 at the start of the season they had very much the best car. When Schummi went to Ferrari it was much the same, Ferrari needed to cement themselves as a top runner once more and had put a great number of people in places to achieve this. It took 4 years before Schumacher picked up his 1st of 5 titles.

Hamilton is not overrated and never was. Hamilton's 1st season was a blast! He lost 'cause he was unexperienced, but that doesn't make him overrated. This things happens, it's natural. However, in his unexperienced 1st year, he outperformed Alonso, CONSISTENTLY. And as we all know, Alonso is one of the best, and always was.

Most of the reason Schumacher was so good was because the Ferrari was superior to everything those years. Hamilton, Alonso and Schumacher have shown to be extraordinary drivers, but i think Hamilton does have the edge here. I don´t even like mclaren but there´s no question about it.
For me it´s Kubica, many drivers have said he´s really fast and he did prove it with BMW by leading the championship until BMW decided to switch focus to the 09 car.

Schumi is a good driver, I completely respect the opinions of everyone else, but he has cheated in the past, Monaco 2006 Qualifying springs to mind, But Hamilton has been bad as well, Hitting Raikonnen in Canada, and Senna has done bad things as well, The Senna-Prost collision (they were both kinda at fault). This just goes to show that sometimes the desire to Win is just to much and that people will sometimes do anything to win.

They had none of the tyre issues Brawn had, none of the downforce issues Mclaren had, and they had the fastest car in the 2nd half of the season and by far the best car in the wet. As for Vettel, he was often matched by Webber in the races. Even now your comment is way off the mark, as this year the Redbull is again the quickest car on the grid.

No I'm not...... Hamilton was penalized at Spa on the back of a rule that didn't even exist until 1 week AFTER the race, even tho he followed the rules that were in place during the race.
He was given a penalty at Fuji for overshooting the 1st corner, and Massa was 'let off' with a fine at Barcelona, despite 2 drivers in the GP2 race being given drive thru's for the same thing. And lets not forget the Bourdais incident, when he was given a penalty despite Massa being in the wrong.
And perhaps you have forgotten the secret deal the FIA made with Ferrari in 1998, £millions changed hands between them in return for preferential treatment & the option to veto any new rules they didn't like.
Schumi got away with numerous dirty moves, cutting chicanes & illegal blocking.... and he also lied to stewards @ Monaco when he told them he couldn't make the corner.

@xxtheleegendxx There were other teams on the grid- BMW-WIlliams, Mclaren, Honda and Toyota that had similar budgets. But their drivers didn't utilise their cars as well as Schumacher did. That's why he's a 7 time champ, while Hakkinen got 2, Hill, Villeneuve, Raikkonen 1, Montoya, Ralf Schumacher, Coulthard 0.

@Legendary081 When Hamilton reaches 7 championships you will be able to speak like that, Schumacher started in a freaking Jordan and even showed superior skills at times over Senna and Prost, and remember Senna was driving a Mclaren (the best back then) and Prost a Williams (just as good). People have to recognize that Schumacher started from the bottom and made himself a 7 (SEVEN) times champion, let's see what Hamilton can pull off, I personally think Vettel has more vision and skills.

@Euclides287 On Schumacher's first full season he already beat Aryton Senna. Schumacher finished 3rd overall, just behind the two Williams who were way ahead of everyone. And it's not like he had a better car: he was driving on Benetton and Senna on McLaren, and McLaren actually beat Benetton on points. You should really look at his earlier years as well, not just the dominant Ferrari years. Some impressive stuff there too. Don't even begin to compare a legend with a newboy like Hamilton yet.

You somehow seem to forget Hamilton beat Alonso, already a two time world champion at that point. Senna beat Prost in the same car too you know. Unlike Schumacher who only had handpicked number 2's as his team mates. Surely you don't put drivers like Brundle, Verstappen, Herbert, Irvine and Barrichello with the likes of Fernando Alonso or Alain Prost?
Also, Ferrari were better in some races of 2007, and judging by Kimi's 10 fastest laps in 2008, Ferrari had a better car that year.

Ferrari wasn't "very worse". Their facilities have always been top notch and they always had a budget most other dreams could only dream of, including Williams in their dominating years.Fair enough Schumacher developed them into a winner, but mostly because he took several engineers and other people with him from Benetton.
In 1999 Irvine was nearly champion. In a bad Ferrari? I think not. Salo led a race in 1999. After Schumacher left Raikkonen was champion and Massa nearly in '08

@SonGoku87 Schumacher did not win the title in his rookie season. He won it in his 3rd season. And when at Benetton Flav was throwing more money at the team than you could shake a stick at. In 94 at the start of the season they had very much the best car. When Schummi went to Ferrari it was much the same, Ferrari needed to cement themselves as a top runner once more and had put a great number of people in places to achieve this. It took 4 years before Schumacher picked up his 1st of 5 titles.

Oh and im pretty sure ross brawn, rory byrne et al are al least as responsible for the ferrari resurgence. add to that the fact the ferraris finished 1st & 2nd most of the time (meaning it was the car that was fast not schumi alone) and team orders

The only driver that can match Hamilton right now is Vettel. They really look like each other. Agressive, fearless, fast, consistent. And both of them could have won EASY this year. Hamilton was too agressive when he should've waited, and Vettel either.
Hamilton could have 50 points more and Vettel 44. Also remember that this year, Hamilton never had the best car. He was the best driver.
Alonso is superb, but he's no match for Vettel or Hamilton. Neither Massa or Button are.

Hamilton is not overrated and never was. Hamilton's 1st season was a blast! He lost 'cause he was unexperienced, but that doesn't make him overrated. This things happens, it's natural. However, in his unexperienced 1st year, he outperformed Alonso, CONSISTENTLY. And as we all know, Alonso is one of the best, and always was.
Also, Hamilton did a pretty good job in '09 when the car was shit. Hey, he's no Senna, but nobody is. Stop this pointless debate.

Most of the reason Schumacher was so good was because the Ferrari was superior to everything those years. Hamilton, Alonso and Schumacher have shown to be extraordinary drivers, but i think Hamilton does have the edge here. I don´t even like mclaren but there´s no question about it.
For me it´s Kubica, many drivers have said he´s really fast and he did prove it with BMW by leading the championship until BMW decided to switch focus to the 09 car.

Schumi is a good driver, I completely respect the opinions of everyone else, but he has cheated in the past, Monaco 2006 Qualifying springs to mind, But Hamilton has been bad as well, Hitting Raikonnen in Canada, and Senna has done bad things as well, The Senna-Prost collision (they were both kinda at fault). This just goes to show that sometimes the desire to Win is just to much and that people will sometimes do anything to win.

@toranomon4125 Anyone who khows anything about Formula 1 knows that Schumacher is NOT the best. He is barely in the top 10 of racing drivers. Don't think that being 7 times world champ means he's the best because you have to consider who he had to beat to win those 7 titles. Schumacher could never match Senna, Clark, Fangio or Mansell in equal cars. Ferrari are the greatest F1 team by a long way but when they weren't at their strongest Schumacher had no answer to Alonso or Raikkonen!

michael schumacher is merely having a midlife crisis and i cant help but think in doing this he is screwing himself over. Mercedes (brawn) were only good last year at the beginning and as it pains me to say it button was lucky to get his championship because they had the upperhand at the start of the season, Schumacher didnt race in the ferrari last year i believe as it was too difficult to drive look at fisi and he has been in F1 for years im not expecting much from Schumi tbh

Utter crap. Alonso & Hamilton are the best drivers in F1.
Vettel is quick no dount, but he doesn't have the racecraft of Hamilton or the consistency of Alonso, and he threw away last years championship with silly mistakes and failing to capitalize on Buttons poor 2nd half, despite Redbull being the most balanced car on the grid, and the quickest over the 2nd half of the season.
Had Hamilton or Alonso had the Redbull last year, they would have won the title without a doubt.

@Gwen1304 LOL, did you actually watch last seasons F1? Redbull had a car with a single diffuser that was challenging right from the word go. They had none of the tyre issues Brawn had, none of the downforce issues Mclaren had, and they had the fastest car in the 2nd half of the season and by far the best car in the wet. As for Vettel, he was often matched by Webber in the races. Even now your comment is way off the mark, as this year the Redbull is again the quickest car on the grid.

@adzmc123 were you sleeping during the race?didnt hear the neutral being selected during the downshift in alonso's gearbox,if you don't know what that means then let me tell you;since neutral was being selected he couldnt slow down in corners properly cause the brakes dont slow you down that quickly.oh and BTW didn't hamilton get stuck behind a FORCE INDIA car?according to me thats even more humiliating than not passing alonso.

No I'm not...... Hamilton was penalized at Spa on the back of a rule that didn't even exist until 1 week AFTER the race, even tho he followed the rules that were in place during the race.
He was given a penalty at Fuji for overshooting the 1st corner, and Massa was 'let off' with a fine at Barcelona, despite 2 drivers in the GP2 race being given drive thru's for the same thing. And lets not forget the Bourdais incident, when he was given a penalty despite Massa being in the wrong.

And perhaps you have forgotten the secret deal the FIA made with Ferrari in 1998, £millions changed hands between them in return for preferential treatment & the option to veto any new rules they didn't like.
Schumi got away with numerous dirty moves, cutting chicanes & illegal blocking.... and he also lied to stewards @ Monaco when he told them he couldn't make the corner.
Oh and lets not forget him ramming Hill & Villeneuve off the track, and using illegal TC and launch control in 1994.
