Dweezil worked pretty hard to learn his dad's music. He knows most of his dad's catalogue pretty intimately; he can play most of every instrument's part in just about any song. Of course, he isn't nearly as great as his father and probably never will be. But, I would rather that it be Dweezil carrying on his father's legacy (along with a lot of the original players) than some shitty cover band that just doesn't have the musical chops. Dweezil put together a top -notch band.
@jaffijoe your comment is part fact and part bs. dweezil is a great musician. the probably never will be pisses me off. give the man credit. he is not the same person as his father. the talent requiired to read the tabs and pull off the timing in these pieces is nothing short of extrodinary. my opinion is your opinion should be different. america dude.
@jaffijoe This may--may--all be true but I gotta say, I play guitar and when I saw the band last year there were a few sudden moments (of improvisation) when Dweezil had me staring at the fretboard of his guitar with a look on my face as if I'd just had an embolism. To my mind at least, he is that good.
the only thing close to the real thing. dweezil you are great a little stiff/republican, loosen up bro, get funky, get that sarcastic keepin the bad boys in our society on their toes attitude, god knows we need your dad more than ever!!
FZ was a republican and flaunted it quite loudly when opposing Tipper Gore (married to the DEMOCRAT politician Al Gore). Point being: when you got it, you got it. Party lines are mostly a slide of hand illusion anyways.
Zappa NEVER claimed allegiance to ANY political party. If his views reflected anything he would have been Libertarian. If you listen to the FZ album Frank Zappa meets the Mothers of Prevention, he never mentions any party affiliation. His views are far more "liberal" In The Classical sense; meaning he believed in individual freedom and responsibility, something that NEITHER dominant party endorses or supports in their actions, or legislation.
Does Dweezil have a son yet? Hope he has as we need another generation of Zappa to delve into the private Zappa "vault" to keep the music coming forever. RIP Zappa.
What song was it when the sax girl (sorry don't know her name) piped through some effects for a super cool old radio sounding solo. That was absolutely fantastic. Is it on here?
Wow, Dweezil did a good Frank impersonation at the beginning.
