in the US we are supposed to have a justice system that is fair, if we did, I believe Manson would probably not be in prison, because his followers did a very decent job of protecting him.

No. I wouldnt say that. But he should have been allowed the right to beat the case by the state playing by its own rules.
So too me they have no REAL authority outside that which is backed by the threat of violence. In this sense watching the trial of Manson is a lot like watching this society puts itself on trial, find itself guilty, all the while proclaiming to be the arbiter of law and order.
i mean the whole thing is a colossal exercise in hypocrisy. On Mansons part too.

I agree with you that there is by NO MEANS enough evidence to hold the man in prison. society is so scared of the man that they want him locked behind bars as long as possible, they do not care about the legality behind it.
I also believe that Manson ordered those murders in one way or another. in the eyes of his "followers" he was regarded as a spiritual figure of sorts. if you were willing to kill for a religious/spiritual leader, would you not also lie to protect him?

I almost thought it was him! His singing voice is more nasal & quieter. Charles was an aspiring musician & very influential. (Wrote his own music & Beach Boys!) He started the family & they stayed for the vow of love/community/sex/acid etc. He formed Helter Skelter, a race war idea. The Beach Boys recorded a Manson song as a b-side on one of their singles, "Never Learn Not To Love" and didn't give him credit. Manson also recorded songs at Brian Wilson's house. Later on Manson became very angry towards Brian and the Beach Boys because they didn't fully recognize his talent.
