That "Baby Talk" song is NOT Simon & Garfunkel, regardless of whatever legend about the record has been handed down over the decades. Just LISTEN to it. Paul has distinctive vocal characteristics not found anywhere in this recording. Also not Simon and Garfunkel are the Ember ("I'm Lonesome") and ABC-Paramount ("Surrender, Please Surrender") releases commonly attributed to them as being Tom & Jerry, also for the same reason. Just take the time to LISTEN.
Thanks for the info, I'll take your word for it. However it was on the 80's "Big" bootleg and the 90's (Italian?) Tom & Jerry's Greatest Hits so the confusion is understandable. OTOH it wasn't on the original Pickwick LP so I definitely believe you.
But what's up with the two instros on that Pickwick LP? Do you know that story?
I don't know about the tracks on that lp in general, but I believe it was the brainchild of Sid Prosen who produced S&G as Tom & Jerry on his Big label. I understand he got into trouble for using a recent pic of the duo on the cover to capitalize on their popularity at the time. He likely owned the name "Tom & Jerry" and simply re-invented the duo once S&G split with him. It didn't quite work the second time.
sounds just as good as jan and dean

No, this is not Tom & Jerry. This was a local LA group called the Laurels(i think)
Tom & Jerry's version was different. It was influenced by Jan & Dean's version of Baby Talk
