  • I'm aware that the bass player is now different and I've never seen them with a keyboard player, but is there some sort of drama behind this song? I don't think it's on any of their albums or EPs and last time I saw them live someone shouted "Houses We Die In!" and the vocalist shook his head in disapointment and the guy shouted back apologizing.

  • @LexLutherG The songs about the mentioned ex-keyboard players mother dying. It's a deep song for them all and even deeper for him, and he isn't even there to play it. It would be too hard to.

  • SO FUCKING SAD

  • How can music have so much emotion. holy crap

  • everyone check out Crooks!

  • sounds a bt like thursday

  • Comment removed

  • Woah. this is great.

  • haven't listened to them at all but seeing them tonight with the world is a beautiful place & i am no longer afraid to die and xerxes. came to check them out, had no idea what i'm in for. wish i listened to them a little more.

  • this is awful.

  • love these guys

  • fricken love these guys each song is amazing

  • well, normally im just fast going throught songs but here, i didnt even touched the mouse one time, read the highest comment first and listened.... after the song ended i just stared 10 minutes to the screen, so much went throught my head. wanted to turn off the tv cause the noise annoyed me, and there a sad movie, yeah i already cried but that just made it worse cause of the fact that at the end friends came in...

  • i just heard about these guys a few weeks ago and it came just in a time where i was going to give up on music and be a a full fledge "grown up". glad there are still bands who put heart into their art.

  • 'i miss you...'

    'i know.'

  • i love all of you posting positive comments, and i especially love the ones in defense of Music. Music is this. I go to Berklee College of Music, and it upsets me that even people here are so ignorant to talk shit about such passion. The time i've spent listening to/playing music is probably around the same as how much i've slept. This is the first song i've ever seriously broken down to. Please open your fucking minds and see the beauty in the greatest example of sublimation out there.

  • I didn't think this movie would hit me as hard as it did. Oh my god... And people always say screaming is pointless YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKERS screaming expels the pain and anguish and raw goddamned power that those lyrics had. I have found a new favorite band.

  • Jesus this is some wank.

  • so many shivers down my spine listening to this

  • What I did was convert the video to mp3 then download it, for anyone who wants this audio as opposed to the Saltwater EP version.

  • @DillonKeene How did you do that? I really want this:P

  • @SAMUELINFANTE Youtube - to - mp3 org Take out the spaces, the dashes stay.

  • @DillonKeene

Thank you(: This song means a lot to me

  • @SAMUELINFANTE You're welcome. :)

  • @DillonKeene It said task done, but then said "Errors Error in [/home/yoump3/public_html/videos/3094_pianos-become-the-teeth-houses-we-die-in-music-video.mp4]"

  • @SAMUELINFANTE message me your e-mail and I'll just send you the track.

  • Where is this version of the song? Am I wrong or is this version totally different (better) than the saltwater ep version?

  • there's nothing emo in this.

  • The differences between emoviolence and screamo are more about the instrumental, right? Emoviolence have more "emocional instrumeals" and screamo faster ones, some remind me of melodic hardcore. Thats what i kinda figure out, but some bands like The Saddest Landscape i cant define, someone could explain this for me? =)

  • @Feliperadkee Emo violence is a joke term made up by Chris Bickel, vocalist of In/Humanity, to describe his band's music. So I don't think you can actually call any band emo violence. Though there are people who like to call more chaotic and fast screamo bands emo violence.

But in conclusion don't try to label bands to a specific genre, just enjoy their music.

  • I know this is about a mother and son, but when i hear the interlude I think of how my grandfather is in a nursing home with what we think is Alzheimers and or dementia, and it's really hard for me to see him like that. And I will admit I don't go see him as often as I should, but as I said it's really hard for me, and I feel like an asshole, his funeral is going to be hard for me and everyone else in my family. This is the first song to make me actually feel like i wanted to break down and cry

  • its so refreshing to hear a song with such deep meaning, this is what music is about... im so fucking sick of hearing about "the club", "tonight" and "friday". i love this.

  • I cried so hard. I wouldn't know what to do if i was in that man's position. He's much stronger than I would be about this situation. I'm thankful to have my healthy mother by my side<3

  • intense

  • please check out Have Heart, Defeater, The Effort, and Lydia if you like this emotional music

  • @xPATRIKOSx This man is right.

  • @xPATRIKOSx none of those bands are remotely like pbtt, check out envy, saddest landscape, suis la lune, daitro, funeral diner.

  • @Baitenator

I was about to reply to that guy saying essentially what you said.

You beat me to the punch.

  • @Baitenator La Dispute?

  • @Baitenator i would say that the "remotely like pttb but yeah

  • @xPATRIKOSx Lydia is a great band but hardly this sort of genre.

  • @xPATRIKOSx I fucking love defeater.

  • Man... The first time I heard that song (such a long ass time ago), I didn't like it. The music sounded really good, but yeah, I thought the vocals were annoying, and wrong. Two years after that, I had some major issues at my mother's, which was my home back in the day. Due to never-ending family conflicts, for her own sake and mine, I had to move. We couldn't go any further, it had to stop. I heard that song... and I was blown away, I cried my soul out. Thank you, Pianos Become The Teeth.

  • Could anyone tell me where this version of " Houses We Die In " comes from ? It's way different from the version on the " Saltwater " EP.

  • @MrVesanique i think it was remixed for the video, as i remember knowing and talking to the guy who put out the salwater ep way back when. this definetly sounds better than that ep, production on that ep wasn't too great. my band played with these guys around the time the saltwater ep came out. crazy on how far they have gone since then.

  • This song hits so close to home. Especially at "I miss you. I know". It reminds me of the cancer scare my mother gave me a while ago, and the predetermined grief I felt.

  • Fucking shivers every time this song starts. Definitely one of my all time favourite.

  • 71 people dont know what family is

  • if you don't like hardcore or sceamo music simply don't listen to the song, if you like that kind of music then you'll appreciate that this is one of the most gripping, emotional songs I have ever listened to.

  • Cunts

  • didnt know russell brand could scream so well

  • @thephan1113 How superior you must feel, while were listening to our shitty screaming music, you're over there listening to refined classical music, we are truly unworthy of your presence, unfit to even know of your refined taste! It's people like you, people just looking for ways to say "I'm better than you" that make me think twice about looking down into the comment section.

  • Anybody know where I can get an album download? Must. Have.

  • this song is so sad, i cry when he says, I miss you, i can really connect to this song and listening to it reminds me of my mother

  • This "music" sounds horrible. Why do people put their ears through this much pain? Listen to some Franz Liszt... kids these days

  • @thephan1113 Who do ignorant people always go post worthless comments? Kids these days..

  • @SAMUELINFANTE dont really know why my comment makes me ignorant, i would think that people who think this is music are the ignorant ones.

  • @thephan1113 Because ignorant people are always the ones going around bashing people's music for no reason at all. You don't see me commenting on other bands videos saying they sound horrible and that it's not music. Just stick to your own shit.. If you don't like it, fine don't watch this video or comment on it.

  • @thephan1113 if it isnt music what do you call it then?

  • @bakestini straight up noise, the singer is screaming, that isnt pleasant to listen too, and there is so much fuzz coming from the guitars and bass and the drums sound like a car crashing, it sounds like someone being killed

  • @thephan1113 So if it isn't pleasant for you it isn't music. Nice logic there. And what has the sound of the instrument do to with it being music or not? They're playing notes and chords in rhythm, of cource it's music.

  • @thephan1113 "there is so much fuzz coming from the guitars and bass and the drums sound like a car crashing, it sounds like someone being killed" Is it weird that I actually really like the idea of that kind of sound??

  • @thephan1113 It may not suit your musical standards but it's raw emotion. Us "kids" are in it for the feeling.

  • @thephan1113 Relax, man. Just, I don't know... let us be. :)

  • @thephan1113

Franz Liszt is cool, but I outgrew my Listztomania a long time ago. Besides, If all you came here to do was talk Romantic piano when everybody here is enjoying Screamo influenced by the more modern tastes of post-minimalism, why even bother to say anything at all? The track is taken from a press kit demo. The mixing is mediocre, and Youtube has done nothing to help it. That being said there's a lot going on here musically if you only gave it the chance.

  • -RealMusic-

  • I literally just got chills just from the opening lines.

  • This almost brought tears to my eyes, my first time listening to this band. I'm downloading this album as we speak. Mind=Blown

  • O.o sorry this is awful

  • @byrnesto

Not judging or anything, but honestly, how old are you?

  • is there multiple versions of the song

this seems faster than the version i have

  • Only if more artist had this kind of passion

  • The lead singer is fucking sexy as fuck!

  • in my opinion probably one of the best videos ever made

  • BMORE

  • Everything about this band is incredible.

  • holy shit this is bad...

  • @09052010boo dude get out before someone finds you and kills you for saying that

  • @09052010boo

    the singer needs more testosterone

  • dat spoken word interlude...so many manly tears were shed

  • Pianos Become The Teeth is Screamo, to quote Jeremy Bolm of Touche Amore "I have always and will always refuse to use the word “skramz”. I understand the genesis of the word being born because the term “Screamo” got misrepresented so badly (see: Warped Tour circa 2002-present)… but I look at it the way Michael Bolton from Office Space looks at it: “Why should I have to change my name, he’s the one who sucks”." just because shitty bands are labelled screamo, doesn't mean they are screamo.

  • I wouldn't consider this screamo, screamo would imply it's bad music. Brokencyde, Dot dot curve, those groups are screamo. This band, well theyre beautiful, in the least i'd call them hardcore. And great contributors to "the wave"

  • @IanTheDorman You think bands like Brokencyde and dot dot curve are screamo? GTFO

  • great song. I wish I could watch you guys play live

  • Im from Maryland! :D

  • @speedmans24 Im from yer moms vagina

  • To everyone that doesn't know, this song is about the keyboardist's mom dying of muscular atrophy caused by cancer and how me is homesick. Fuck you to all the ignorant people out there that won't give anything a chance, you make out one clear word and phrase and judge the song upon that lyric, be more open minded.

  • these guys are so amazing. i dont know what else to say

  • the spoken word part never fails to make me cry

  • saw them in nyc two nights ago, with TA and Seahaven. The sense of community and energy was fucking unreal, not to mention they tore the house down.

  • this song and video kills me every time. so emotional

  • Can't wait to see them with seahaven touche amore tonight :D

  • Dont think ive heard a more emotional song or video

  • seeyin em saturday!!!!

  • This is always the ONLY song on my playlist that has trouble buffering.. I've decided that it's because it's just too epic for my computer's meager abilities.

  • I remember finding this freshman year.

  • I need this remastered version. Anyone know where I can snag it?

  • @dispatch311. Both those bands suck more cock than ur father. This shit owns ur pathetic frat boy soul.

  • or the mom kills herself?

  • dont hate, but im a little confused as to exactly whats happening in the video. I think that the kid is looking back on his happy childhood and now his parents fight all the time and the family is torn. is that right, or does someone die (cause of the funeral scene).

  • Comment removed

  • @SensesFail1994 The song I believe is about the death of the keyboardist's mother.

  • @SensesFail1994 i think the mother dies of cancer coz the part where she says, "i didnt leave, i faught for five years to be by your side" kinda sounds like a battle of cancer. and then when he said they were lying to her by smiling. she was dying.

  • @SensesFail1994 The song is about the Keyboardist's mother dying of cancer. I think the song also talks about the vocalist's father who has MS ("the truth is muscles atrophy").

This has got to be one of the most emotional songs I've ever heard. The monologue part is incredible, and there is something so "real" about this band.

  • Where can I find this remastered version of this song?

  • Just found these guys... I love emo music but I don't know if I can do the singing/vocals anymore. No offense to anybody but i'm 32. And you kinda end up listening to MaybeSheWill/RedSparrows/Pelican/Rosetta. Are there bands like this out there with alternative lyrics? Or no lyrics? Same music style and sound but perhaps the lyrics are strong like Hatebreed. Or political more than "girl you make me hate myself" type of stuff.

  • @greyshell77 Letlive are a little more grown up lyrics wise. Stick To your Guns as well. However I'm 18 so my version of grown up may be different from yours.

  • @greyshell77 Uh.... Did you even hear the lyrics? Or read any of the comments regarding the lyrics? They're about the mother of the keyboardist dying of cancer, and how he misses her. It doesn't get much more powerful than that...

  • Should have called their band "when emo kids grow their hair out and start smoking weed".

  • and i miss home.. god this band makes me sad about growing up and i havent even moved out yet

  • @UnknownRex33 Protip: If you do move out and after a little while feel homesick, don't listen to this song.

It does not make the situation any better.

  • 64 people died in that house.

  • not gonna lie the song is ok but the singer sucks, he totally ruined it. i couldn't finish the song because of him

  • @FindClickWatch2 I thought the same thing and then I gave them a chance. Love it now. Be more open-minded, dude. Life's too short.

  • @FindClickWatch2 Don't listen to post-hardcore music then.

  • Oh Man

    Touche Amore

    La Dispute

    Pianos Become Teeth

    all tonight together!!!!!

  • @crisisred i saw them all on halloween with circle takes the square

that was one great fucking show

  • @crisisred ive seen all of them at crazy fest together with plenty more

  • @crisisred throw in defeater, native, title fight, make do and mend, and alot more

  • @crisisred lucky. i wanted to go to one of those =\

  • @crisisred Can I just say I'm jealous as frick! Its only been a month since I've seen La Dispute here in Grand Rapids, but it feels way to long

  • not gonna lie pretty fuckin sweet! Totally unique

  • @TheJambolian Definitely check out Hopesfall's old stuff. May be From Autumn To Ashes. I saw them in like 2000.

  • just found a band of geniuses

  • Where can I buy this song? Its not on iTunes.

  • @Basskay

    All right, thanks!

  • @Metalheadmilo Long Distance Calling are pretty awesome too ;-)

  • its like explosions in the sky but you just add vocals. im in love

  • mommy's love

  • @d4rky26

Any suggestions to get me started?

  • @Metalheadmilo Mogwai and Explosions in the sky would be a good start.

  • @Metalheadmilo Also have a listen to God Is an Astronaut, This Will Destroy You, and 65daysofstatic.

  • so hes crying about smoking indoors? k.

  • I can really feel the pain of his vocals. Even though i didn't understand what he was saying... So much deepness and inner pain.

  • @robot2fresh

Oh, Jesus, I forgot about that little pseudonym. xD

Well, just so we're clear, metal isn't all I'm into. I love a lot of kinds of music. Jazz, classical, blues, classic rock, punk, alternative, I've even dabbled in a little Johnny Cash and David Allan Coe. But I suppose that explanation wasn't necessary, because if you had actually read my comment, you'd know that I thought the music was absolutely beautiful. I love it. However, I feel the vocalist ruins it by never letting off the

  • @Metalheadmilo Have a look at some post-rock bands if you like the instrumental parts.

  • @Metalheadmilo johnny cash is amazing. also, hank 3. whatchyou know about that, sport?

  • btw the show is in a few hours. i cannot wait

  • this is exactly what ive been searching for in music.

  • If this were an instrumental, I would love it. I found the vocals laughable. What a pity.

  • @Metalheadmilo probably not heavy enough for you, 'metalheadmilo'

  • @Metalheadmilo I kind of agree. The lyrics are pretty well presented through the video though. The vocalist sounds like he just woke up from a nap and he's all groggy...

  • This song made me appreciate my mom a little more.

  • Stupid name and the song was horrible. I would rather listen to cats fornicate.

  • amazing.

  • The screams suck...love the instrumentals though..Kinda like the contortionist.

  • @Knung derp

  • @Knung Wait what?

Did you seriously compare Pianos Become The Teeth, a post hardcore band, to The Contortionist, a progressive deathcore band? What have you been smoking, man?

  • @TheSoggyScrotum

Uhm, yes. Obviously you arent very familiar with them because there are alot of similarities with their instrumentals at times.

  • @Knung I am very familiar with them as I have Exoplanet and I love it. As a side note I have pretty much everything Pianos Become The Teeth have made, so I know them quite well too. These two are not very similar. Nor should they be as they're two different genres.

  • que mierda de grupo!

  • Chills runnin down my spine !

  • where can i find this version of the song? the ep version is way lower quality

  • @TheGingerKid1771 I could be wrong but I think they played live for the music video. Thus, you can only get this version by ripping the audio off this video. I also prefer this version to the one on the record.

  • @MrVesanique this is a studio recording.

  • @MumblecoreGeneration My bad, then. Is it available on any record ?

  • cant wait for the LA/SD shows with touche!

  • I fave it every time i see and hear it...

  • What a han solo move, "I miss you" "i know"... Great song though

  • hahahaha

  • These screams are making me cringe.

  • @JONNYVELU go listen to risecore bands then

  • these guys are a cheap version of la dispute or touche amore
