@newbies4u That particular paper you want is actually a result of a professional printing process, so you cannot really get that effect with a home printer (unless you have a laser printer!). For my own booklet here, I just used regular paper. I actually like the effect of regular paper because it gives the booklet a handmade look - which better fits genres of music like folk, indie and classic rock.
@insearchofnirvana Hi! It depends on how you make the booklet; I used card stock because you need something sturdy for collage, but you have to be careful that your book doesn't become too thick, or it won't fit into the case. How are you making your booklet? Using a Printer? Collage? Just drawing?
@insearchofnirvana Make a few mock ups (play with your folded paper) first to work out page numbers. If you're going to draw them, you can always make the mock up, number the pages, unfold the mock up, and then draw everything out on nice paper (if you're erasing anything you need good paper to handle it) Then photocopy the work and create your booklet that way. Regular thin copy paper could work, but won't last with a lot of handling. would love to see whatever you come up with!
@EraserqueenStudio Okay. One last question: once I'm ready to print the final product, what paper should I use, because I know that regular white paper wouldn't be the best, and it wouldn't be very durable.
@insearchofnirvana Well, there are actually different kinds of regular white paper! Most people buy the really inexpensive copy paper. I have used Bright White (97 brightness) HP inkjet 24lb 90g/m2 with good results. If you want anything better you'll have to use inkjet, and for the best - go to a professional printer for coated paper.
@EraserqueenStudio This is really late. I am sorry for not responding earlier. It was just a mix of a few punk rock, pop rock, classic rock, and some Spanish music.
If I were making a profesional cover in InDesign and sending it to a publisher I would! LOL But the whole point when making it for yourself is to give it an indie/garage band homemade feel that slick paper can't replicate. :D For this CD I ended up making a felt case and did not using a plastic one.
I would have easily watched another 10-15 minutes of that. Found this vid while searching for a real easy way to create a booklet. This regular time consuming way I already knew =D Ah well. Might get to work as there really isn't an easy way to do this. As a little hint from another booklet loving person. Cutting weird holes to the pages gives a nice touch. Also you forgot to show how you attach the pages together in the end. Anyway, 5 stars! =D
Aw, thanks! I am actually going to create a vid for making Deco books, (and maybe remove this one) as this was primarily geared toward a CD booklet, and I made it quick for a friend O_o haha
I got one book from a mailart buddy where she cut a big hole in the paper, and then took another piece of scrap paper (about the same size as the hole) and then sewed it into the hole, it looked AWESOME lol. I am punching two holes in the spines and tying the pages together with pretty ribbon :D
....funky, doodle drawings....is that a technical term?
....creepy retro vintage cutesy..... I love your word combos!
...nothing says creepy like phone numbers....ha ha!
I really like how you use glue sticks for the basic papers, I tire of seeing vids where people insist on using Golden medium to glue EVERYthing down. It seems like overkill.
I'd love to see more finished shots when you are done!
Not to mention gel medium is EXPENSIVE lol..I can't afford to use it as an everyday glue, I'll use it as a sealer or something, but glue stick works just fine.
As soon as I actually finish a booklet, I'll show it, I'm doing them kind of assembly line at the moment, and have five half finished booklets right now *eek*
hey we love to make albums but did you write your own songs for your albums

@EraserqueenStudio Ok then, lets say you scan what you made to make copys, how would you make a double sided page?

What kind of paper did you use? I posted twice, I think, because I wasn't sure if the last comment posted or not.

@EraserqueenStudio Well, I figured it would look more natural if I drew it by hand. I guess I would like the booklet to be about six pages.
