I'm sure the PR dept just did an internet search on Malay lifestyles, came up with that storyboard and gave it to a non-Brunei based film production company to shoot. I'm sure their target audience does not include any Bruneian.
I'm from Brunei. The shots they made in this clip that's supposedly from Brunei don't seem to be made in Brunei. The actors clothing are authentic, but seems to be more authentic in our neighbouring country, probably 50 years back. The 'wayang kulit' is not available locally. The traditional Malay house at the edge of a padi field at 0:13 is sooo not this Millennium. I can't find the buffalo hearder at 0:19 anywhere around where Shell Brunei operates.
Wow, I used to think Shell was evil, but now that they have the Super Bendy Straw Drilling Platform, I'm going to burn my hybrid and wallow in a giant puddle of oil!!! Go Shell!!!
I Watched the movie, and at the end, its about more OIL, its a snake designed to get even more OIL, so, who cares about the planet since we have the new Snake, awesome... -_- tards, Jaap, nice one, you have a better life now, when you die, your son and grandsons are gonna suffer, because you are an awesome engeneer, get it? no planet left! Taard!
In Ireland, Shell are in the business of saving money by putting their gas refinery onshore instead of at sea, and want to bring raw untreated gas through a high pressure pipeline 9km across people's land without their permission. When local farmers objected, they were jailed! Now the police are used to beat protesters out of the way. See indymedia DOT ie/mayo for more info.
This is just a shallow attempt by the oil companies to sound 'hip' and 'more efficient'; When theyre trying dodge the energy crisis by saying "We'll always find ways to get oil".
I can't even believe how many people soak up this bullshit. Get a blue and grow some eyes. Getting oil isn't the problem, our dependance on it is.
And something else - Let's put our money where our mouth is, people - Who here can tell me where there is an E85 pump in South Florida that can be easily accessed? (A: There aren't any), and when one will be available? (A: Nobody knows). My car runs E-85 and I WILL gladly pay more up to $.50 more than gas for it when available, but until then, you can do two things - Put up or Shut up!
I hate this campaign so much that I'm going to go out of my way to avoid Shell stations. In my area, they started by showing short clips that barely had dialogue as a prelude to a longer commercial that explained the concept. As if this is some major event! I just saw a mini ad that was comprised solely of credits for the actors. How self-important of Shell to think people care about their transparent propaganda.
Humanity rising to the challenge with the Eureka breakthrough that solves our problem. No better story. A never ending true story too. More interesting: How Big Oil is pouring money into advertising to hold their position over a Clean Break, e.g., 1)GM's EV car they killed, 2)this video subliminale messaging portraying oil as the caring, responsible parent concerned with the irresponsible son representing altenative clean alternatives (no CO2).
Would you kids please grow up - This movie is more than that, you missed the entire point, we want to drill those smaller pockets of oil in order to allow us more time to come up with more alternative energy sources, we know already that there isn't enough oil left, what we need now is enough time to come up with a viable solution. Idiots!
Really? I've recently been subjected to this ad at the cinema and today I got a free DVD of this campaign with The Guardian newspaper. The blurb is that this cloggy is passionate about saving the world's energy resources and struggles to solve the problem of leaving 'undrillable' oil behind. What he should be doing is focusing on alternative energy sources rather than squeezing the earth dry. Yes, I drive a car, but I'd prefer to live in a world where I could be green.
No wrong with being green at all, I would love to be driving a 0 emissions car right now, but the technology is not yet available (in the US). Is it a matter of greed or is it a matter of making every drop of oil count? As an engineering student, I can relate to the problem, I'm not trying to say that using oil is good. I liked the way this movie illustrates an engineer's ingenuity in coming up with a solution. Would I love to be 100% green? You bet! Can I right now? Not yet.
lol... greenwashing ad ;D
i would also bet my ass that this account "HannahDees" is run by a shell- pr agency

Looks like this was posted by a PR person...."New Shell commercial based on one of their real-life employees.
Nice insight into the world of oil and how they're trying to find alternative energy sources, and has a good story behind it too.
You can also go to shellcom/realenergy to see a 9 minute extended version, and to play games etc.
Worth a look!"
seriously???? are you kidding? this must be an intern cause they sure as hell don't sound like your everyday youtube user.

I was wondering what Jaap van Ballegoolien's "bit of a problem" was. Thanks for the video. It solved all of my answers. Lol. Thanks again.

Does this kind of drill even exist?

Looks like a very interesting method to steal oil from neighboring fields. Beats slant drilling all to hell.

You should check out another DVD, one that is not sponsored by an oil company. Try An Inconvenient Truth.

This video is TOTALLY DISGUSTING - completely avoids the real issue; we need to move to alternative fuels NOT finding better ways to drill more oil!
