The drivers of that carriage company lost a horse not the people at this vigil. You have no idea the bond between driver and horse. I don't drive horses in NYC however I have driven horses for years. The drivers work, care, and love thier horses. When you lose a horse you lose a part of your family. Please stop using their lose for your own gain.

For proudofcarriagehorse...and you knew Charlie? Well if you actually knew this horse or any other you wouldn't be saying what you are saying. If you feel that any horse should be on the streets of NYC then you need a new awakening! You need a heart or morals because this is torture to these horses. So wake up and get your facts straight.

YOU people didn't KNOW Charlie. Shame on you for using poor Charlie's death to further your own interests to ban carriage horses from NYC and everywhere else. Charlie's owner and driver REALLY loved and cared for him. You people only care for and love the publicity you are getting from exploiting him in death.

@ProudofCarriageHorse I agree. those horses are very well cared for. You have too remember people that post like that about cruelty and all are out of towners. They dont know what they are talking about

@jerzeytpke I'm sorry, but it's just ignorant and rude to assume that just because you're aware of a few good caregivers doesn't mean that all are the same. Please educate yourself as to animal rights issues. Bet you have no idea the kind of cruelty that goes into your food, clothing, and everyday materials - I'm sure all those animals are probably "very well cared for."
