  • I had one ,You need two men to run one to drive and one to run wing plow! at night the flames shoot out the straight pipe stack! hit a man hole ring and its gone!or a chunk is out of your cutting blade

  • @mymisty7 it is. Those r wings to clear off the sides

  • Put the blade.down!

  • you should plow with them when they do plow this kind of conditions better pack a lunch LOL

  • the walter trucks could keep up with this

  • That's what I like about these machines. You can gear them down to where they do about 1 or 2 km per hour but you get tank like horsepower and as long as you maintain traction, you can push bulldozer size loads.

  • Love the sound of a working cummins!

  • Love that sound of the engine working. Classic... reminds me of the old Deuce and A half from days of my youth

  • old truck still gettin it done

  • that is diesel power at its finest ;D

  • You got close to that nice work.

  • @bigplowman: what is the sideblade good for, when it only 'rubs the top of'.

Sorry for my English, I am from the other side of the great lake :-)

  • @pinkyandbrain123 It creats a place for future snow. It's called a wing. If you don't use one the snow bank can grow so high that you can't push snow over it--the snow just slides back into the road behind you.

  • @Canopus721 big thanks! Sounds logical! Gained new knowledge :)

  • suck it mother nature!

  • nice! only 4x4...

  • Damn that truck has some serious power

  • that my good sir is plain awesome. thank you so much for posting this...I beg you for more movies of this truck...

  • the snow is so white and clean looiking, pretty

  • oshkosh and walter sure make sum strong stuff

  • 6 people live in Florida

  • i live in Evansville Wisconsin and we got over 19inches of snow in 27hours with 55+mph winds and Oshkosh came out to plow are road out, they got 2 trucks in the ditch we had 11foot drifts going across the road

  • @MrHeavygamer thats when they should plow with two of the same type of truck if one gets in trouble

  • haha whats the mpg on that thing?

  • @comalley0130 i think you mean gpm

  • when you are out plowing in that kinda of snow plan on packing a lunch to take with you you will be awhile plus alot of coffee

  • when you are out plowing in that kinda of snow plan on packing a lunch to take with you you be awhile

  • just a question would a road grader be better in this condiction with more power?

  • @fishproet No.

These Oshkosh's or better yet the old Walter Snow Fighters are still the kings in this use, followed by FWDs, Mack RM's and International Paystar 5000's.

  • what year is this beast?

  • all the plow trucks around here are sissy trucks and cant handle more then 5 inches at a time it seams..

  • those tires are Fuckin sexy

  • That white stuff looks like a HUMONGOUS pile of confectioners sugar.

  • now thats what i call plowing

  • I need one of those

  • What's the biggest and most powerful diesel available in a semi truck, past and present???

  • @mine1username

Straight from factory it would be Volvo or Scania. They have developed engines with so much torque that it must be restricted for daily use, meaning gear box and drive shaft cannot take it. Sure you can such components but it would be a)too expensive power to $ ratio and b)too heavy to be cost effective for semi.

  • now thats pushing some snow

  • cummins! :)

  • BEAST!

  • DGAF BRAP BRAP!

  • Winter sucks

  • ..All business....

  • I have watched your vids dozens of times Grant ! its just incredible what these trucks will do ! Most dont realize that your v plow is probabbly 6 or more feet at the center where the snow is almost going over it ! I have to get my truck some work this coming winter !

  • Sexy

  • thats freakin crazy

  • Great video. Reminds me of growing up in Lewis county, town of Martinsburg. What township is this?

  • the walters and oshkosh are the best old iron for plowing serious snow as you can see iam still trying to be able to drive one of these.

  • I love it

  • Pushing some serious snow. Great truck!

  • Looks like a train or something. Awesome.

  • hey can i barow that i only need half for my drivewway and where is this

  • Been a while since I ran an OshKosh.... They are snow throwing beasts.

  • very impressive.

  • oshkosh is the brand of plow truck in the vid not the location.

  • I want one of those.

  • that is NOT in oshkosh we don't ahve moutains .

  • Its the brand of truck, not the city.

  • what an awesome machine. thanks for posting

  • Oskosh,,,By Gosh!

Your basic, sno-brute for when the Macks, Fords, Chevies and IHs puke out.

If you can't afford an Oskosh, get a Walters.

  • That thing is soo old. Why is the wing so high and how can you tell where the road is?

  • The wing is winging, lol.

Seriously, it's setting the bank back so they'll have some place to put the next snow fall. The step it forms also acts as a catch for blowing snow. Old? Simple and basic never get old.

  • If he runs the wing lower the snow will spill right over top of it when it comes off the V

  • @ritzcrackers27 it's called shelfing, or making room for more snow, you use the wing to knock it down for the next storm .. and 1. by pushing the route before 2. the snow drifts 3. markers and other things

  • that truck's a beast :-o

  • Please post more this year.

  • looks like my driveway last winter next to that road.

  • I hope there will be more video of this winters plowing .

  • i wish they used trucks like that today the plows the have now are small dumptrucks with cheap blades

  • They still do. In some parts of up-state New York where I'm origionaly from uses a lot of these old snow fighter trucks. Everything from these Osh's to Walters dating into the early 1950's. They're there, you just need to know where to look. Most towns in that area have at least two or three of the big V plows around, the trucks that run them use the same blades the rest of the fleet uses. When the V is needed they take the standard blades off the Snow Fighters and put the V's on.

  • This was in response to limabeanz24

  • awesome awesome awesome!! haha woow

  • That Oshkosh is so cool, I want one!

Love the sound of that Cummins under load, too.

  • It might no be a Cummings..It's most likely a Detroit..

  • I'm pretty sure its a Cummins.

    Detroits don't sound like that.

I don't know if you ever heard a Detroit but they are worlds apart, not only in sound.

    Not to be rude ;)

  • Ohh trust me I know what a cummings, and a Detriot sound like..My buddy built a custome 4/4 with monster truck tires that had a detriot in it...I also owned a dodge straight 6 cummings a few years ago..I understand where your coming from It does sound more like a cummings, but I'm confused, because Detroit supplies OshKosh with most of its engines....Your probably right though

  • The truck in this video has a Cummins (no '"g" in Cummins btw) NHC 250 in it. Bigplowman stated that in one of the earlier posts.

  • Now that I listen to it again, It does sound more like a cummins then a detroit

  • it sounds like a detroit, my uncle has a petibone with a 372 detroit and it sounds the same as this

  • Awesome !

  • Only with a Detroit

  • That is a Cummins in his truck, not a Detroit.

  • That sounded like a L-10 cummins. We have 3 trucks where I work and they all sound like that. Peace

  • The Oshkosh trucks are what Buffalo NY. uses to clear their roads. A typical Oshkosh has a front plow a wing plow and a belly plow and a salt spreader. And they do all of this in one pass. (Up to 600 Horsepower helps too.)

These trucks take 2 men to operate when set up this way. When they get a two foot snowfall the roads are cleared overnight, when most other states get this the roads are closed and in some cases a state of emergency is called.

  • The wing plow is set higher to push the snow from the front blade further off the road.

When the snow is not as deep or on a second pass the operator will lower the wing plow.

  • gotta love the old oshkosh snowplow!!!!

  • OMG! i would love to take my snowmobile there! lol

  • 5 stars for keeping a classic alive and still working

  • talk about a truck with power..that would suck to get stuck

  • Ok, I don't mean to be a physicist or anything, but what would that translate into tons? As in, how many tons of snow is being pushed?

Is that what it is- torque, that allows that? I noticed the 'blade' was set some distance off the ground- is that SOP, good practice?

I'm more familiar with the street or highway or grader plow, and even then, I don't know much.

    Great video.

  • cant tell ya how many tonns hes pushing but a very low gear and lots of torque allows him to do it and that blad you see off the ground is pushing the snowbank back so it dont fall back in but the v blade is on the ground .. and that is a very good practice or he would probly get stuck pretty quick when it starts to fall in around him

  • The blade that is off the ground is a "Wing" blade. It is used to open up the road further, or in this case is only put partialy down to "shelf" the snow, which allows the main plow to put snow up on top of that.

  • See, there you go - it's the simple concepts in practice that make things work so smoothly.

    Thanks.

  • jeez that thing has got some SERIOUS torque

  • Please post more !

  • really cool

  • wow wouldnt mind havin that to plow with. thats nice! might be old but better than some new ones ive seen latly

  • dont like the cummins, should have detroit, but in one word... beast

  • Whats in the back for ballast ? sand or concrete ?

  • look at that power nothin bets a good old oshkosh

  • Holy shit. He lets off, and then it picks right up again. Serious power, serious weight. Yeah, baby!

  • Cant do that with the little pickup plows

  • man that Cummins sounded good, thats some serious weight on the front of that plow, all 4 tires chained?

  • Town used to use them in my neighborhood

    they were animals

  • Is that a detroit diesel under the hood?

  • No, That is a Cummins NHC 250.

  • can u help me find some parts for my uncles 1934 Oshkosh plow truck, we need to get it plowin the upper Wisconsin snow, plus i'd like to take it to some shows

  • Talk with Clarence Jungworth at Oshkosh Truck!! 62 years at Oshkosh!!!

  • @giaisbomb Yeah, FUCK THAT DUMP WI! LOL! I love Holland.

  • @fan80sgirl Ever been to Wisconsin?

  • @Jackle61 No only to New York, I dont like snow and cold.

  • @Ghostsniper15 what part of Wisconsin

  • always like to see vidoes with those older snowfighters in action. being either oshkoshes, or walters iam looking to buy an older walter or oshkosh with vee plow.

  • what i mean is i love the video

  • Awsome truck, our city uses all oshkoshes,we had 2 older trucks just like yours, they are better than the newer trucks .yours is in mint shape ..love please post more videos..thanxs

  • Bad ass! please post more!
