  • Wow...does this go to an LMF? If so I'd hate to have to get the customer's chemistry specs on that one...definatly a high si!

  • @verona887 yes, this is the melting stage of the scrap steel.

The LMF will do the final blending stages of the steel.

  • decided to watch EAF process cause I am curious

  • good slag....

  • Worst tap I've seen in a long time, stream was all over the place.

Tap temperature would be around 1600degC.

This is a submerged tap hole EAF for slag free tapping.

  • I hope that's not a bottom tap. If it were I would be cussing. That looks kind cold (less than 2900 degrees)

  • It's a spout tap, bear in mind that I work as a contractor on the electrical side here and am not an expert in steel making.

Also the colour on a camera may not always be exact as the brightness may overdrive the automatic camera adjustments.

  • That is correct.

  • I take it that it's a spout tapping EAF?

  • @sentinel76 bottom tapping EAF....
