The vocals here are by T.P. or Parker Gibbs he does sound a bit like Cliff Edwards.

Gibbs's vocal is very different on this take as well, esp. in the verse. The piano solo here is quite a bit more adventurous than on the other one, as you point out.

It's just a stupid pun on the word "necking"--e.g. very mild and almost innocent sexual contact. At least that's the word we used when I was a teenager. :)
