  • lol im 26 and i read YA. nothing wrong with that. :)

  • I love my fellow Canadians in Michigan, EHH????

  • Hey, my brother did some kind of Michigan film training. They shot some short film or something.

  • yeah, we did! What's his name? I probably know him. :-)

    -Monica

  • ah the gilmore girls reference made me want to read that book!!! huh i just scrolled down and saw someone posted a very similar comment. fellow gilmore girl fans unite!

  • I ship Katniss and Gale too! Peeta is annoying...

  • Awesome video! I really want to read Octavian Nothing

  • I subbed. you are entertaining x1000.

  • I congratulated you over twitter but congratulations again on the scholarship, your summer sounds like it's going to be pretty awesome now.

Also your Gilmore Girls reference made me want to go read the Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks so I might have to go pick that up. If you think it's awkward for a 23 year old girl to buy YA books, you have know idea how bad it is for a 22 year old male. Oh and he Dressden Files are fun, not amazing but they're fun to read.

    -ckwright (chris)

  • Snap to you sir. I just got done reading The Disreputable History, and being a 24 year old guy, I felt a little silly reading it. I'm totally glad I did though.

Thank you Monica also for the recommendation, I'm going to have to check out the other books you mentioned now :)

  • This is so weird! I just made a reading list for summer (because I never have ANY time during the school year to read anything other then for my classes, which sucks.) and this is what it looks like:

    The Hunger Games

The Disreputable History Of Frankie Landau Banks

    Suite Scarlett

The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing

I'm glad you seemed to enjoy them all! gahhh I need it to be summer now.

  • Also what is this teddy bear thing you speak of? It sounds yum.

  • Let me know how you like the books!

And the Teddy Bear is the name of one of my favorite coffees at Biggby Coffee. It's delicious. :-)

    -Monica

  • I'm a naughty teddy bear fan... ask about it if you haven't gotten it. Nate made it up.

  • haha, is that the same as a dirty teddy bear? Nate made that one too... it's a regular teddy bear with mocha added? :-)

And who are you? We seem to have friends in common... ;-)

  • oh, I mentioned the naughty teddy bear to Trevor today, and he says HE was the one who made it up... Nate's got some competition!! lol

    -Monica

  • I was there with Kai last night. I didn't know you'd responded or i woulda said Hi!

Woops... maybe it was Trevor? Haha

  • My mom used to read "adult fiction" all the time -- Harlequin Romance!

Battered Bear? You had a bear that was beaten? And you ate it? Well now it's out of its misery haha.

    Congrats on snagging the scholarship!

  • Haha thanks!! And yes, the Battered Bear was delicious. ^_^

    -Monica

  • You look beautiful in the Thumbnail Monica, great video though.

  • lol, the way you worded that makes it sound like because it was a nice thumbnail it wouldn't be a nice video or something. :-P Thanks though, hahaha

    -Monica

  • Nah, All of you & your sisters videos are amazing without amazing thumbnails. Now..Thats just confusing,Sorry. : P

  • does anyone else think that in the video picture Monica looks like a white beyonce?

  • uh, thanks? lol :-P

    -Monica

  • tehe xD

  • you look so pretty :) well done! I'm going to read some of the books you recommended, I need bookz!

  • Yay! let me know if you like them! (or hate them!)

    -Monica

  • Anything resembling anything from Gilmore Girls instantly gets put on my amazon wish list!

  • Excellent! It's so good!

    -Monica

  • your eyes are different.

    what's the secret monica?

  • O_o I don't know.....What's different about them?

    -Monica

  • Bedodododo for scholarships!!

Great to see you back, and well done on getting that film scholarship!! I really want to work in the film industry when I'm older, so it's nice to see you succeeding XD (I'm living vicariously through you. Don't let me down ;P )

And it's completely irrelevent but you looked very pretty in this video ^_^

  • Yay! Congratulations!

  • freedom and reading!

    two things i love. hah.

  • Oh man I am jelous of you for getting that job! It's such a hard industry to get into and people in Michigan appear to be getting it handed to them...SO NOT FAIR! But well done and I hope you enjoy it muchly!

  • Congrats on the scholarship! Ba do do do do do

  • Yay Michigan Film stuff! They need to do some film things in Kalamazoo where I am. It's a great city...

  • Oh, but they are! My sister is competing in a big animation festival in Kalamazoo in just a few days!

  • Oh right! I TOTALLY forgot about the animation festival... Awesome! Good luck to your sister!

  • we all knew you enjoyed the adult section, Monica. The sequel to Hunger Games comes out in September I think.

  • lol.. it must be a common sight where you live, to see a girl in a carpark jumping in front of a camera :P lol hahaha unless you cut out all the people shouting at you or beeping the horn:P

aww kewl to here you got into the course:P doctor who Rules :P ha

  • Technically... you're gonna be an adult from like 18-100. So if you're in your 5th year out of 80+ of adulthood, you'd qualify as a "young adult". (Yes I know YA is mostly catered for people who don't actually qualify for the A-part)

  • im 25 and i like watching chowder

  • So wait... Every corner of the country has it's own Hollywood now? Nice.

    West - Hollywood, California (Duh)

    East: NYC, New York

    South: Shreveport, Louisiana

    And now

Midwest: Michigan... Which city specifically? Detroit?

  • grown up fiction XD

  • Meridian Mall? I met Meg Cabot at that book store!

  • I was just there yesterday! How come so many awesome YouTube people converge near Lansing?

  • good to see you back, Monica! Congratulations on the scholarship.

  • Congrats! You are so freaking adorable!

I finished The Bermudez Triangle yesterday, it was very good, also my favorite MJ book, but I've only read two.

I'm starting on Octavian Nothing next.

Oh, and I'm 24 and reading YA fiction, yay for being "too old" for YA books!

  • I'm with you-- I'm 23, and every time I go into the YA section of the bookstore/library, I feel like I should be wearing an "I am a library student" badge. Parents give you sideways looks.

It's far worse for my male friend who is a middle school teacher. Awkward!

  • YA is actually much better.

  • I'm glad to have so much support in this. I felt so silly, standing there in the YA fic section. But as my friends tell me, it's not exactly as though I look out of place. ;-)

    -Monica

  • Almost Twenty... and I still love young Adult Fiction... I think I will love it forever!

"regular fiction" okay.. but knida hard to relate to sometimes. like "Next thing of My List" is a fabulous book but i found it hard to see things through the eyes of a thirty something year old woman.

  • Yeah. Maybe someday....

    -Monica

  • Eh, I'm 24 and still read young adult fiction. It's weird, 'cause when I was of an age to read YA fiction, I read adult fiction. I guess I'm making up for it now. =)

  • Me too! I jumped straight from Babysitters Club to Siddhartha and The Bell Jar. Now I'm reading all the teen stuff.

    -Monica

  • lol don't worry we totally understand why u haven't made a video in a while, so no punish required. By the way there were a few times in that video in which i'm like "Oh my god monica is gonna get hit by a car, MOOVVVEEE!!!" XD

  • Haha, the parking lot wasn't that busy, and I wasn't out in the way of the cars. But thanks for your concern. ^_^

    -Monica

  • The sequel to The Hunger Games (Catching Fire) comes out Sept. 22!

  • Schweeeeeet. ^_^ SO EXCITED.

    -Monica

  • I ship Katniss and Gale, too. Because I also ship Peeta and the Avox girl. hahaha.

  • haha that didn't even occur to me, but that's hilarious. :-P

    -Monica

  • I don't know.

  • what dontcha know?

    -Monica

  • None of your business.

  • Those are all good books! I'm reading Scarlett now. I don't really read normal fiction either...

I heard there was a film studio opening in Detroit! Or somewhere. There's no jobs in Ohio either. But congrats to you!! :D

  • Yeah, somewhere. I thought it was going to be in the Lansing area, but you might be right.

    -Monica

  • YAYYYYYYYYYYY!

well, those books sound interesting and i think i just might check them out!

    take care!

  • Awesome! Let me know how you like them. ^_^

    -Monica

  • yaaaay, congrats! & i'm so glad that you're back. ^_^

  • Thanks! Me too, it's great to be back.

    -Monica

  • At 22 I also feel awkward about reading YA.

but It's more intersting than regular fiction

  • It's more fun to read. Things happen faster.

    -Monica

  • You know, since graduating I have felt weird about looking at the YA fiction. I'm only 18, but you made me feel better.

and it took me forever to figure out why you kept talking about adult fiction... sometimes I am slow on the uptake.

  • lol yeah, it made more sense in my head than in the video I think.

    -Monica

  • Congrats on getting the job!

  • Thanks Karen!!

    -Monica

  • yay, happy to see your face after all this time.

major congrats on the scholarship. very exciting!

  • oh, and pandas. deadly. you know the drill. :)

  • Yay! It's good to be back. ^_^ Thanks!

And yes... pandas are amazing. I know. ;-)

    -Monica

  • Yay! You're free! About half of those books are on my list. I've been failing at the book challenge. Blame my teachers.

Congrats on the film scholarship! That's awesome! That makes me hopeful for my future.

    DFTBA!

    -Gianna

  • I've been failing at the book challenge too. I'm soooo far behind. But reading YA fic makes it easier to catch up. :-)

    -Monica

  • The second book in The Hunger Games Trilogy, Catching Fire, comes out on September 1st this year.

  • AWESOME ^_^ I CANT WAIT.

    -Monica

  • I love the Hunger Games. I did I happy dance when I saw you read it. I know the author, there IS a second book.

    Gilmore Girls...

  • hooray, second book!!!

    -Monica

  • Monica Congratulations on the Scholarship.

The weather in Michigan looks lovely.

New Grey's on this week..last one made me cry.

  • yay - 100th episode! :D

    -Chellie

  • I'm soooo excited for Grey's!!!!!! and thanks. ^_^

    -Monica

  • Holycrap Yaaay! Good job on the scholarship/job Monica! Glad to see you making videos too ^^

  • Thanks! It's good to be back. ^_^

    -Monica

  • Dresden Files! Yesh! Have you finished Turn Coat?

    Congrats on the scholarship!

  • I'm still on the first book! Octavian Nothing has been taking up most of my time. I've only been reading Dresden Files in the car when I'm waiting for my friends to show up places. So far so good though!

    -Monica

  • Sweet! I read most of it (most as in all but 70 or so pages) when I was home this past weekend. I'll have it waiting for me when I finish up finals week and get home! :D

  • Congratulations. That is so super cool. All of the books you have read or currently reading are on my list. I need to read more. Glad to have you back, we missed you. :)

  • Yay! It's good to be back.

    -Monica

  • congrats on your scholarship, that's awesome news.

  • thanks. I'm (obviously) excited.

    -Monica

  • Okay, I am mad at youtube, I wanted to rate 5 stars but it rated 1 star! Noo!

  • haha oh well. :-P Thanks for trying!

    -Monica

  • I like these...I hope you guys get back on a regular schedule.

    Sidenote:

I read "Girl at Sea" and really did not enjoy it at all. But after all the good things I hear about Maureen Johnson, I feel like maybe she deserves another chance. Can anyone tell me if I should bother trying any other books?

  • We should be back on a regular schedule now. :-)

I wasn't a huge fan of Suite Scarlett. 13LBE was better, but it still didn't really grab me. However, The Bermudez Triangle is AMAZING. I really like it... it's about three best friends, and while one of the girls is away for a summer, the other two girls start dating each other.

That's my two cents. Read Bermudez Triangle. :-)

    -Monica

  • AHHOH GILMORE GIRLS REFERENCE

    happy day

  • I <3 Gilmore Girls. :-)

    -Monica

  • Finals are an excellent excuse for not making videos! Congratulations on being finished! :D

  • Yay! Thanks!
