check out the old hudsons bay building at 9:27. If I could be 18 years old again i would like it to be here back when this film was made. no cell phones, no computers or other time wasting gadgets. hot sunny beaches with wood smoke in the air.
I too born and raised in Kitimat. Even though I live in the prairies with my own family, Kitimat will always be my home and I look forward to visiting once or twice a year. We need more videos like this. I wish I had some to post.
Especially loved the crowd scenes and the kids playing. Back then, people seemed to be a lot gentler -- not so much swearing and anger. How 'bout those hairdos? :)
Thanks so much for posting this video. I brings back such great memories from my beloved home town. If you have any more old Kitimat film, please post :)
that was amazing. Thanks for posting it. I grew up in kitimat and loved the town. Strange though, I didn't recognize many of the locations or buildings. Things change I guess. But the beech, the bridge, I think I saw the old service centre, all classic, made me home sick for it all.
Thank God my Grandad decided to move there when my dad was 16. I wouldn't trade those memories for gold :)
Wasn't service centre. That was Nechako Centre where the Dominion Day parade was happening. The old Shop Easy store is just god awful. The guy who owns it refuses to fix it up or even sell it.
@simekoo you don't want people to come I guess u want it to stay boring
