Well KPIX used it for news closes, but if KTRK should have used And You (Telesound) instead of KHOU, to will replace Cool Hand Luke, probably KHOU could end up using KHOU 1984 News Theme
@sboudreaux27 There were two backgrounds used for the morning show. It would switch to the second for the final segment, when Don Nelson would tease what was on Good Morning Houston that day.
The Live at Five background is actually a montage of Downtown highrises.
The closeups were used for the Morning, 5:30, 6 & 10 PM newscasts though they were obviously several different images.
OMG!! Did I just see gas at $25.67 a barrell???? And how weird Ed Brandon would mention tropical storm Edouard. Hes right outside my window right now.
yeah alan just got asked for less time and move to weekends on 39, but i believe boudreaux is doing behind the scenes things at KTRK-TV i think. and yeah i believe that about are rascon too, he needs to be in the field that seems to be what he likes to do, and hes really good at it.
Agreed. I sometimes wonder if Art Rascon is just doing "rip-and-reads" every night instead of looking over and marking his hard copy before Live At Five goes on the air, considering all of the slight flubs and stuttering he does while reading the prompter.
I used to like Alan Hemburger on Live At Five, but personally, I preferred Bob Boudreaux. I miss them both (though Alan's on 39 still, I think).
@ktrkhoustonfan, this was from August 9, 1990 during KTRK's 5pm newscast and this was also when then-Houston Mayor Kathy Whitmire (D) was serving her 5th and final 2-year term.
Too cool! Thanks for posting :)

So let me get this straight: KTRK had several different news sets for their newscasts:
1. The morning news had the downtown skyline looked different with Tom Koch, who's still there.
2. The Live at Five news set had the big "Live at Five" promo in front and the skyline behind it looked like the Galleria.
3. The 6pm and 10pm newscasts had close-ups of the downtown skyline, including the weekends.

He retired last year, but he's subbed for Tim Heller and others from time to time since.
