  • gli effetti utilizzati in questo disco e soprattutto in questo brano mi piacciono troppo, grandissimo disco!

  • I'm convinced Bono designed his look on The Joker

  • Anybody knows what are the guitar effects Edge use on this song?

  • @megamicron Delay, delay and more delay.

  • @megamicron distortion on the verse, phaser on the refrain

    ps

exception: flanger was used instead of phaser during the Vertigo Tour

  • STEP BACK OR THE EDGE WILL CUT YOU

  • Brilliant

  • this song makes me all wet!

  • I am not U2 fan, actually I am an Achtung Baby fan.

  • @kugoid Holy Shit! Talk about synchronicity.

  • the best album ever!

  • My favorite album

  • Comment removed

  • This song is a masterpiece. Still stands the test of time.

  • Love this song because the start sounds like a steam train :p...

  • Really hard to decide which U2 album is better, if Joshua Tree or Achting Baby...but i choose Achtung

  • @davlor86 Same here, bro.

  • @davlor86 My fav song by U2 is "with or without you" off joshua tree... buy achtung baby is def. my fav U2 album... the consistency of epic songs is amazing

  • There are some really retarded discussions here. If you don't like U2, fuck, don't listen to them! They have been around for a very long time, they haven't always been a huge arena rock band. And comparing U2 to stuff like Skinny Puppy (respect) is just moronic. See, if Skinny Puppy tried to make music that sells, they would probably fail. Because that's not what they're good at.

Don't get stuck up on the false integrity. Everyone makes music to sell it, even though few started out that way.

  • @stakleni00 i will never EVER understand why people claim to dislike music they chose to listen to. That's like wearing hats and bitching about how stupid it is to wear a hat. Whenever someone does something like this, somewhere in the universe Darwin is weeping. Or possibly laughing.

  • @ChenStylish I totally agree with you. I, myself, couldn't imagine what Darwin would think. Perhaps that he was wrong all along.

    P.S. A huge + for the taiji.

  • @stakleni00 thank you friend :) Hopefully have some vids up pretty soon.. hopefully. My sifu HATES cameras and won't allow one anywhere near him (unless he's the one behind the camera) so it's hard to capture myself in class. lol anyway.

  • @stakleni00 I'm not a U2 fan, but they wrote some brilliant songs back in the day.

  • You hear this song and you know you're in for a beautiful ride.....

  • I just heard that this album was 20 yrs old today :)<3

  • Happy 20th Birthday Achtung Baby! :D

  • So perfect like 1991

  • Well we all have probs. I was a junkie back then. And pussy kept me going.

  • wwwgreatbuyoutletscom today I am completely broke. Please send money 2 723 Bedford Dr pocatello id immediately thank u in care of me Gary Ard

  • isnt there any better versions

  • @susanwilson13 IMHO THIS IS THE BEST VERSION:

    watch?v=0fYxMW6WaGc

  • About a boy, anyone?

  • @canard1du1bain

    That's why I'm here :)

  • i rem'ber buying this album on the day of its release and i thought 'wow' what a brave thing to do.u2 came so far from away the joshua tree sound when they could of played it safe and released something simlar.who else in the music industry dared to make a massive move like this?maybe the beatles.

  • I like how NIN made a pretty polished cover of a song U2 really were trying to make noisy and weird, despite NIN usually being the noisy and weird stuff by comparison.

  • NIN`s one is way better!

  • this version kicks the shit outta u2 and im a nin fan..the nin version sucks ass i meant to say

  • @patchylady To each their own.

  • this version kicks the shit outta u2 and im a nin fan

  • LISTEN THIS VERSION:

    watch?v=0fYxMW6WaGc

  • trent sings it better also

  • I like Trent's version a lot but both are good.

  • I'm in love with the Nine Inch Nails version of this song, never been a big U2 fan but credit to them for writing such an amazing song.

  • Music at its heart is expression, and Trent's current happiness is clearly seen in his cover of this song. I personally enjoy it, it's different, sure, but it's something new and unexpected. Plus, doing an "industrial" cover of an "industrial" song is a bit unoriginal; a characteristic that NIN cover songs never possess. I mean really, you can't expect the man to be perpetually stuck in a Broken/The Downward Spiral mindset for all of eternity, can you?

  • I'm a real fan of NIN (and I barely know U2), but 'sadly', in this case the original is way better than Trent's cover (which sounds like... a leftover from some mellow soundtrack project?)

  • @whoisnot

Well, after repeated listenings I realized the cover has a certain charm, you must take into account that Trent and Atticus probably reasoned on what type of makeover to give the song, and they probably decided to go into an unexpected direction. Said this it is my opinion that Trent has either lost a part of his creativity or has just became lazy - songwriter wise - in the last few years. He recycles a lot, something he would never do pre With Teeth. Mellow sound courtesy of Atticus

  • @flupetepak

Sry, what I ment is pre The Slip, not pre Year Zero. :)

  • @flupetepak

    damn, not pre With Teeth

  • @whoisnot haha, I noticed that too.

  • I remember vividly my 1st time listening to zoo station in my dad's then new 1992 Honda as if it happened yesterday. This song completely blew my mind.

  • The 1991 U2's album Achtung Baby was an answer to the backlash created by predecessors The Joshua Tree and Rattle and Hum which helped the band break the USA and become multimillionaires and mainstream superstars. The band wanted to reinvent it's sound to regain it's credibility with the alternative crowd and Edge was listening to a lot of NIN in that period, so it influenced Achtung Baby's sound. Prolly this is the reason Trent was asked to contribute a cover for the tribute cd.

  • NIN brought me here (huge fan), never heard this song before. The original is better, more interesting and creative

  • Yes NIN cover brought me here. Decided to listen to this one first before the cover. Never listened to U2 before but this is pretty sweet

  • this is my first time hearing this song... and by the sound of it NIN's version will be very similar to NIN's cover of Metal

  • @epistaxis2008

I thought the same thing, but Trent's interpretation turned out sounding nothing like "Metal". I am actually quite surprised by how warm NIN's version is.

  • @kuba81 Trent hasn't produced anything "industrial" in quite a while.

  • @tribestros what did you think of NIN's tetsuo theme? That was recent & sounded pretty industrial... or not, by your standards? who knows... the borders of these genres seem arbitrary at times

  • @tribestros

True, but I don't think it's a bad thing. I really like the cover and to be honest, I like the fact that Trent keeps coming up with new sounds and ideas instead of doing the same thing over and over.

  • @epistaxis2008 this song is so up Trents alley more so than any other U2 song ever... cant wait to hear it

  • U2 and NIN are my favourtie mainstream music. I wish they would collaborate on an album. I would never have to hear a new song again throughout time.

  • @wojovox NIN isn't mainstream. Trent Reznor left the music industry.

  • @daftmarzo

Yes he did. I meant mainstream in the sense that he's very well known.

  • 2 more days till i hear nins version!! Cant wait lol

    thanks God 4 bono & t.r.

  • this song just took away

    my ears virginity

    lol. :]

  • idc What any body says i <3 u2. 30 years + & still going. their record speaks for itself

i love nin just as much btw

  • And with the events of August 1991 in Moscow, this track marked the unofficial start of the 21st century. On December 31st 1991, the Soviet Union officially ended and U2 were the best rock band in the world for the next 7 years.

  • why would NIN waste their time covering such a gay ass band?

  • @meatissodumb

because he want to to show them what a good track is!

  • @mamalio76 only good track u2 did was kiss me thrill me. this song sucks

  • @meatissodumb Because Trent is a genius and so are U2. Now shut the fuck up.

  • @TheFirstJedi trent is a genius, but u2 actually sucks

  • @meatissodumb 1) Twenty Two grammies say otherwise.

    2) Trent Reznor loves U2; He was in a U2 cover band when he was in college and has remade two of their songs now.

    3) Trent is even on the back cover of "Achtung Baby" as a thank you for influencing the band's album.

  • @meatissodumb Yeah, and you also don't see Skinny Puppy selling out any arenas. That's my fucking point, dumbass. You suck.

  • @TheFirstJedi The new Skinny Puppy albums sooo fuckin sick

  • @dwc311 lol I know. I love Skinny Puppy - they were a big influence of my hero Trent Reznor's work. But 'meatissodumb' is such a dick that I felt I needed to be one back.lol.

  • @TheFirstJedi I C lol. Ya I know Reznor openly admitted to ripping off the SP song Dig It when he made Down in It. I hate it when bands rip off other songs and dont admit it. But yeah the new Skinny Puppy and the new Ohgr is really sick. Now I know Skinny Puppy has never and will never sell out. I do feel like the new SP and Ohgr is more catchy and accessible. But by no means commercialized. I was very suprised to see that Deadmau5 was"thanked" in the linear notes of Handover.

  • @TheFirstJedi Also have u heard the song Tragek off Ohgrs Undeveloped?? I LOVE that song so so much. But its got sucha catchy chorus. Towards the end of the song the way it fades out or whatever sounds so poppy. Im sorry but it sounds like something some chick would listen to on the radio. I love that whole song though. Definatly my favorite Ohgr song. But yeah those guys have never did any shameless acts of selling out or anything like that. GOOD music. Im finally trying to get into U2 here.

  • @dwc311 Skinny Puppy is AMAZING!!! I'm also a huge fan of KMFDM; you should try out the songs "Virus", "Money", "Juke Joint Jezebel", "Godlike" (Chicago Trax Version), "Stars & Stripes", "Mysterious Ways" (U2 Cover), and "Light" (feat. NIN).

U2 is my all-time most favorite band ever though. "Beautiful Day" is one of the best songs ever written in my personal opinion. "Achtung Baby" is by far my most favorite album also.

  • @TheFirstJedi Ahh yes KMFDM is definatly one of those bands I really need to check out. Yeah I'm looking for new bands to get really into. Because when i get into a band I go all out and buy all their albums and make it a priority to listen to every single one of their songs and know the history of the band etc. Yeah Depeche Mode is definatly my favorite band of all time. Im the most crazy about them. Than comes Genesis/Peter Gabriel than NIN. But yeah this Achtung Baby stuffs growin on me.

  • @TheFirstJedi I've been reading his comments. I think his stomach has resorted to eating his brain.

10-1 his mommy throws chicken stock in all his food when he's not looking.

  • @meatissodumb screw u,u2 rocks

when was tha last time skinny puppy was even relevant u troll ??

  • @meatissodumb IF U DONT LIKE U2 THEN DONT COMMENT

  • @meatissodumb HaHa skinny puppy!?! havnt heard that name in years!!! u jus made my night moron lmfao hahaha 'skinny puppy' XD

  • @Westen77 anybody that wears a gold jacket and disco boots is clearly a fag. weak music from a weak band

  • @meatissodumb

*Blocks the stupid and annoying troll*

  • @awesomenessk I'd like to thank you for that. I appreciate it very much.

  • @meatissodumb Your comments are the gayest I've read here, You need to get out of the closet c*cks*cker.

  • it's alright

  • Wouldn't mind hearing nine inch nails do a cover of 'One'.

  • @leavinghope1970 i'd far prefer them do it than damien rice.

  • this must be the song to play at my funeral!!!!

  • @dusix66 -I never of thought of what I want played and done...lots of thought and action...

  • Comment removed

  • im imagining trents noise bass guitar on this ; )

  • Sunday Bloody Sunday remade by Trent Reznor and Saul Willams is really good too!

  • Are Nails really going to do a cover of Zoo Station??

  • Comment removed

  • I'd rather hear NIN remake "Even better than the real thing"

  • @ryanell666 i'd rather NIN didn't remake any U2

  • @ChrisCantHaveItAll lololol

  • cant wait for nin to make sweet musical love to this song

  • Trent's going to have a ball with this song haha

  • Hate me all you want but I've heard this for the first time because of the upcoming NIN cover, and honestly parts of this sound like it could have been on TDS as it is.

  • @halfofme Never. Pretty Hate Machine at most. TDS was much more obscure and twisted than this.

  • @mariodark000 "parts of this"

  • I wonder if Trent is going to work alone on this cover.

  • @MrBiggles42 He always does if the track's going uder the title Nine Inch Nails.

  • thumbs up if NIN cover brought u here

  • I can totally hear Trent singing this, and I can especially hear some NIN-esque stylings over the instrumental bits.

  • Can't fucking wait for the Nine Inch Nails cover drop!

  • The NIN cover of this song is going to be fantastic.

  • haha it totally did !!! came across the memo from NIN on facebook...Not sure if I've ever heard this song, so I'm giving it a whirl.

  • Can't wait to hear the Nine Inch Nails cover of this song.

  • @V19torrent

Can't even imagine how thats gonna sound :P

  • @awesomenessk Probably like a whole lot of sex. :D

  • @awesomenessk Actually, this sounds more "industrial" than the NIN cover...

  • @melotrom1 True !

  • @melotrom1 hahahahah

  • @melotrom1 dude i was just thinking that right before i looked at the comment hahaha. trents voice is so clean in the original

  • @melotrom1 Exactly what I was thinking

  • Oh boy Industrial. These guys were CAPTAINS of Industry. Riders of the distortion wave. Can't find this sound originality anymore.

  • @melotrom1 fuck off wanker.

  • @awesomenessk yeah! today is the DAY!

  • @V19torrent yeah

  • @V19torrent Me neither. Both LEGENDS in their own respects.... beautiful collaboration.

  • @V19torrent

    I loved the nin cover

  • @OhMyGodMuffins Yeah I listened to it last night... I dont know what to think. The original sounds a lot grittier than the cover. NIN's version sounds almost dream-poppy. I'll listen again, gotta figure it out.

  • @V19torrent Well, it turned out WAY different...NIN's version is good, but not the best.

  • I'm ready to duck I'm ready to dive I'm ready to say I'm glad to be alive.

  • Recuerdo que cuando puse el disco por primera vez pensé: "Qué mierda es esto". No se parecía en nada a "Joshua Three".

Todos los días me alimento de esta mierda de disco...

  • All Out Attack Genius

  • personally this is my fav song from achtung baby!

  • hahaha 3:02 "ajá ¡¡qué cachondeo!!"

  • If you check my iTunes library, I have listened to this song over 500 times...never gets old!

  • This Is The best Song of U2 ever

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SONG! Always reminds me of the opening of Zoo TV Tour!

  • you have to listen to the intro with one Radio boxes! then the sound is incredeble good!

  • Great song!!

  • best in achtung

  • Achtung Baby = better than a real orgasm

  • i am glad to be alive :)

  • @sequalls Haha! Yes, the U2 line to Berlin Zoo. I believe it runs along where the wall was.

  • Haha! Yes, the U2 line to Berlin Zoo. I believe it runs along where the wall was.

  • daniel lanois put u2 over the top with this album

  • This album (my favorite by one of my favorite bands) always conveys such bright and distinct colors in my mind. Not sure why that is, but this song, and many others, just sound so colorful to me. I know that sounds really pretentious, but it's true. The Joshua Tree has some amazing songs on it, but it always sounds so grey while Achtung Baby always sounds so vibrant!

  • I distinctly remember listening to Achtung Baby on my Sony Walkman in 1991. It was one of those rare instances in which I felt myself being absorbed into the album as it played. It was inside me and I was inside it.

  • isnt this in About a boy ?

  • @lilypie07 Yes, thats correct.

  • @lilypie07 yup, sure is.

  • I remember cutting the hair off my barbies and throwing U2 concerts in my room.

  • Have this album on cassette tape

  • E~fing AWSOME SONG!!! Love this whole album! Classic song that will fill the for a long e~fing time!

  • wow this came out in 1991? Feels like it came out recently. great song nonetheless

  • this song was way ahead of it's time I reckon, good stuff

  • Greatest U2 song ever. It never gets old and never will. Pure class.

  • favorite u2 song :) cmon d irish!!!!!!!

  • Adam is great in this song!

  • my fav song by them, tyvm for posting it.

  • Achtung Baby = Masterpiece

  • @DTL3317 Achtung Baby was excellent but Joshua Tree still ranks #1 with me.

  • @equalhappiness dont forget The Unforgettable Fire....
