I hear a lot of college rock influence in their sound, in addition to the obvious Talking Heads and Velvet Underground influences. The Jesus and Mary Chain comes to mind. Back in high school I wanted to dismiss them as bubblegum indie pop but now I can fully comprehend their greatness.
