  • 60 secondsis static contraction training, and 60 is going aerobic, which doesn't increase muscle.

eab1955, your training changes with the amount of muscle you have. see John Litlle and Pete Sisco books.

  • Actually when you first start out your suppossed to use longer hold times 30-60 seconds.

  • The problem was these guys were using the whole weight stack on several of the machines in their first training session. Coach Conner was going to make some changes because they were holding the resistance so long. No one expected these guys to be this strong on their first Max Contraction session.

  • magicbunnygurl please do not give out advice if you yourself do not know what you're talking about. your training changes depending on what your goals are and what you've done previously. beginners usually do 3-4 day splits (rippetoes or any strength gaining split) and then can move on to more bodypart specific programs (4-6 day splits).

  • Blackknight, I wasn't giving advice, I was stating a FACT. Max contraction is 1 to 6 seconds, and more than that is static contraction training, especially 60 seconds. Nowhere was it stated that this guy was a beginner. Read John Little's book called "Max Contraction Training."

  • How often do you do this type of training?

  • This guy looks strong so should work out no more than once a week. Maybe 7-10 days. If you're just starting, you can go more often.
