They start as normal people who have the same kind of depressing and cynical thoughts that we do about things happening in the world. We all wish at some point to just be able to let loose on what we see as wrong about the world. And if we tried, it would probably end similarly.

My premise for a sequel(SPOILERS): Dr. Horrible is a member of the Evil League of Evil, and has become a sociopath. His inner torment is shown in his treatment of minion Moist, whom he begins to treat less like a friend and more like a peon. A big hesit scheduled by Bad Horse falls on the anniversary of Penny's death, who torments 'Billy' in visions, calling him back to good. Meanwhile, Captain Hammer is recovering from his defeat and appears to be 'slipping' himself, but to redmption, or evil?

Otherwise there's lots of awkward background music. That's why in dance scenes you never hear the footsteps, which you definitely would if it wasn't.

Anti-villains and anti-heroes are both kinda blurred since they aren't strictly good or bad. Anti-heroes though are often people that do bad things towards a good end (this is often used to darken a hero). While anti-villains try to achieve an evil end with good effect. It is also used to humanize the villain and make them more relatable. I think in this instance they are trying to make him seem more human so I would go with anti-villain.

He is an anti villian because he is not driven to do horrible things for bad reasons, he does them because he thinks that there is nothing good about the world anymore and wants to rule it. Like a less succesful version of Rha's Al Ghul, Leader of The League of Assasins from Batman.
