  • Clear as a bell.

  • Näglein also means Nelklein. In Switzerland we say Näglein or Nägeli and we do not mean Nails when we say it. It`s a dialekt. And I have never heard somebody sing: Nelklein...

  • Absolutely awesome version! I really love her voice and her rendition of this beautiful song---thank your for sharing this recording!

  • thank you for upload and words and translation.

  • Sang by the Swedish alt soprano Anne-Sofie von Otter

  • Divine music. Does anybody have the English translation?

  • @minnie888444 - It really is a gorgeous rendition. Thanks for sending on, Monica.

  • sorry to correct you, but there is a typo your german text.

"Näglein" means "nails" which wouldn't be very comfortable for the child. The original word is "Nelklein" which means "little carnations" (flowers). btw. carnations, like roses, are a symbole für Love also a red carnation was a symbol for resistence.

  • @TeatimeOoO

    sorry to correct you,

Näglein in this case is an old, no more used word.

Braunnäglein ist Flieder - english lilac.

  • One of the best versions, thanks!

  • Beautiful. Nagyen szep.

  • Tenderly sung. Very beautiful.

  • Anne Sofie left the song still more beautiful... Bravo!!!

  • @AlcidesConstante I agree! She is simply splendid.

  • @bassfanne45 I love her voice, her charisma, her elegancy. She's really wonderful.

  • @bassfanne45 There's a wonderful documentary about her that sometimes shows up on the A&E channel or the Classic Arts Showcase channel.

  • Does anyone have the lyrics in french?.....

  • @aljazeerkazan Dear aljazeerkazan, please tell me: who did the lovely paintings! Especially the first one! I once saw it in an antiquities shop in the window and thought it so nice, that I made a photo of it, but I didn't know who painted it !!!

  • @geigenmarie Dear geigenmarie,

William Bouguereau is the name of the artist, and the piece of art is entitled as "The Song of the Angels". I hope that this was helpful and insightful.

  • @aljazeerkazan THANK YOU !!!

  • William-Adolphe Bouguereau

  • @aljazeerkazan this is a bad translation, because some of the words are german...

Cherchez pour "The Lied, Art Song, and Choral Texts page". Cet Lied là n'existe pas en francais, mais beaucoup d'autres.

  • @sirama2a 3) Malheureusement les textes et traductions sur cette page ne sont pas correct à 100 pour-cent, alors il ne faut jamais l'utiliser ou citer sans vérification, mais pour simple information c'est très utile...

  • I loved it as very small child I sang it to several children and now I learn who composed it, well the kids don't care

beautiful and soothing it accompanied generations

  • My only description of this soothing, angelic music is: It feels like the pair of your beloved's hand reaching out through your body and caressing lovingly your fluttering heart....it's always soothing and touching, vibrating every muscle of your muscle whenever you hear it....Am i just crazy or totally biased about this favorite music of mine?
