I thoroughly love Doug Stanhope though I frequently disagree with him. I think he disarms an irrational over-sensitivity to issues. He talks about things that are taboo. He's just a good comedian.
Why did you have to bring up the fact that you "disagree with him" in that comment.
What exactly in this fuckin video was at such odds with your beliefs that you had to mention it? You sound like you enjoy his comedy but you're too much of an apologetic puss to let it come out right.
i definitely dont agree with alot of his pessimistic views but hes gotta be one of the best standups ever if not the Best. Its funny how i hated the man show when joe rogan and doug took over and now i love them both
I'm actually not that big a fan of Bill Hicks to tell you the truth.. Of course it could just be that I'm a bigger fan of the writing aspect of stand-up comedy but I personally find Stanhope's and Carlin's routines to be much better worded.
@drewdonham lol "pessimistic views"... you mean realistic? There's a reason other people laugh at his brand of "pessimism". Or to quote Carlin in a more succinct soundbyte: "Some people look at a half-glass and say the glass is half full. Others look at the same half-glass and call it half-empty. I say the glass is too damn big."
"Cause I cannot understand cause and effect."

the only way to compare carlin's and stanhope's stand up is if they were both born in the same generation
