  • This is actually a decent cover the music is remenicent of the time.

  • That moment when you realize this song is a cover. I thought Summertime was my NKOTB obsession growing up, until I heard this one <3

  • Didn't I used to like this version of this song?

  • SAUDADESSSSSSSS!!!!! KELLY BRASIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The instrumentals are hideous as fuck. But they sang the shit out of this. Decent enough cover. LoL at all these people not knowing about the Delfonics. xD

  • amanda sounds like a chihuahua ...and dont know any of lyrids to this song

  • the New Kids hit #8 in Billboard, 11-18-89. Sounds like at least 1 of the boys' voices hadn't changed yet. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great weekend!

  • Sure The Delfonics' version is better but the New Kids especially Jordan gave this song justice. Kudos to you guys!

  • okay are u mad !!! they did awesome

  • 曲もいいんだけど歌詞が素敵!!なんだよね(*^_^*)

  • 当時中学生だった私、ニューキッズに夢中でした。たしかカバー曲だったんだよね。

    時々無性に聴きたくなります。

  • Don't hate the New Kids On The Block because this remake of The Delfonic's song. They weren't trying to outdo them, if anything The Delfonics set an example and role model group for them. Jordan Knight's falesetto vocals and Joe McIntyre's vocals are the real deal and this isn't mechanical. They wouldn't make a mockery and disappoint The Delfonics. Besides don't hate the group because Maurice Starr had arranged for the New Kids to sing this piece. I think they did well.

  • THIS IS A COVER?!?!?!?!

    MY HEART = SHATTERED

  • sounds like someone made this on a cheap Casio keyboard.

  • : ) i remember

  • Lovely cover version. This reminds me of Jackson 5, especially in the way Joey and Jordan sings.

  • @yoljarvi .... totally understand your assessment... but it's really not bad when you consider that it was recorded by some 12-to-17-year-old white kids! And J. Knight's falsetto is the real deal. He was the only authentic singer of the group; I've always given him credit and the benefit of the doubt. J. McIntyre was second best. The other two? No skill whatsoever.

So: Mechanical? Yeah, I hear that. But it's offset by J. Knight's great falsetto vocals, which are anything BUT mechanical.

  • @Tre404 ...well, maybe Jordan's vocals ARE a bit stilted at times, but still...... you could hear the pre-fame potential here.

  • love is song

  • Love this song and I had this tape but it got eaten in the tape recorder. Hope to be able to find it at a thriftway or something to replace it. Maybe I can get it on CD eventualy as well. Thanks for the post of this amazing group and song.

  • Delfonics were way ahead of the curve when they released this one, Philly RnB really set the stage for boy bands of today, excellent rendition by NKOTB

  • who is delfonics?

  • @RandomBologna delfonics were RnB group from philly some 40 years ago, if you like this check them out excellent music that set the stage for many bands today

  • @THYCHANIE ...... OBOE: Old Bastards On Emmodium....

  • @Tre404 Even Better..lol.

  • i love this song from new kids of the block is my favorite song and just a big fan here..

  • These guys rock!! I have been a fan since I was about 13 or 14. they have been gone for 15 yrs and STILL have it!! Love the new stuff as much as the old stuff!!! KEEP IT UP GUYS!!!!!

  • love this song and video and have this tape. Thanks for this great song and post on youTube of this amazing group.

  • This is the song that made me fall in love with The New Kids. 20+ years <3

  • Beautiful voices, beautiful sound. I have this one in audio cassette version XD

  • HIt #8 pop, #12 AC, #34 soul in Billboard. God bless!

  • I like this version better

  • I don't think this was really meant to outdo the Delfonics. I think the idea was more album filler... I am not sure that at the point this was recorded, anyone had any idea what an early 90's phenomenon NKOTB would become. Still, if paying homage led any teenie-boppers to the Delfonics, I would consider it a win.

  • @theonslaught We can only hope that teenyboppers in the '80s had parents who cared enough about them to expose them to the classics!!!

  • Jackie Jackson's version is the best

  • Hit #8 in Billboard. God bless!

  • At 3.52 it sounds just like Nick van BSB....

  • whoa whoa whoa.. ok delfonics' version is better BUT Mr Knight's falsetto is up there along with the best.

  • @ellaborin agreed

  • good stuff!!!

  • @ellaborin lovee the falsetto

  • This is very nice and considering how big this song got (at least here in the midwest) it's hard to believe there are not more people who reflect onit today.

This came out toward the tail end of me liking any pop music.

  • And this suppose to be better than the delfonics!? Please... for God's sake...

  • New Kids On The Block still kick butt... NKOTB RULES...

  • They did an excellent job on this, but the Delfonics original was much better. Either way, you can't go wrong with each version.

  • Delfonics suck? You poor uninformed person. Their version is the gold standard. NKOTB is good but certainly not better.

  • I agree with you . I am a NKOTB fan but to say that they are better is laughable. It was good of them to remakethe song becasue it bring good music to a new geration that probually would have never listened to it before.

  • One of their best songs, i just wish joey could have sung the leadl for this part. He sounds so much better when he ws younger.

  • No body could do a better job then New Kids when it came to this song... GREAT JOB!

  • Sorry, but the Delfonics original version is still classic.

  • @2bin

    Offcourse.

  • joey should have sang the whole song.great song

  • half the songs ont his album they could never perform cuz they were with joe at age 12 with the "Please Don't Go Girl Voice".. luckily Jordan's falsetto never changed!

  • This version is great!

  • I love this song. I love the New Kids. I will be going to their show on March 7 in Texas.

  • Im from TX where at? I love them!

  • They did it in Hidalgo ,Tx and it was AMAZING

  • I wasn't a big fan of "New Kids" back in the day, but they really knocked this one out of the park.

  • Say what you want about "New Kids," but no one could have conceivably performed this song any better than they did, although there were many older versions of this song.

  • The Delfonics!!- they won a grammy for their version

  • When I was a boy...

  • I remember this came out AFTER Hangin' Tough to remvamp the first album when it failed

  • To state it more cleary, this single and album were re-released after the success of their 2nd album Hangin' Tough.

This was a very smart move, because it came right at the peak of NKOTB hysteria and girls couldn't get enough of them at the time.

  • NO! This album was their first. It was not released a second time. Hangin' Tough was their ULTIMATE album, it made their name and voices heard. I was 12 when this album came out.

  • I know that this is their first album....what i was saying was the first album DID not get popular UNTIL Hangin' Tough.....they had this song on the charts at the very same they were on the charts with their singles from Hangin' Tough.....you should go back read billboard for that year

  • True

  • Thanks for agreeing....makes me feel better someone knows what I mean LOL

  • I know what you're talking about I saw it in a NKOTB documentary and they almost lost their record company's support because this album (when it was first released) was a huge failure.

  • esa musica es de mis tiempos, lo maximo
