The flat looks lonely without the Trotter's inside and without the furniture. Also there is too much nostalgia about the flat. It was good they got bankrupt after because later they receive Uncle Albert's will and receive a good sum but still stay in the flat.
One of my favourite episodes by far, had me laughing so hard at times. Would have been the perfect end, it's a shame nobody else from my generation really bothers to watch this. It's a true comedy.
i have to disagree and say that the next three wrapped things up,rodney finally having a child of his own,del losing all the money then getting the chance to win the money back is classic 'trotters luck'.life isn t a fairytale that's why this worked so well, just when you thought del's luck has changed something crops up! albert being layed to rest, roday finding out his dad is freddy the frog,so much j sulivan had to tie up in the end! number one comedy of all time by far.....u no it makes sense
At 8:45, it would have been better if they'd left out the episode title 'Time on our Hands'. It should simply read 'ONLY FOOLS AND HORSES', because this is not just the denouement of the episode, but of the entire fifteen-year series. Roll credits, the end.
i sooo remember watching this when it was first shown at the age of 4 years old siting and watching this with my dad(RIP dad)i am sooo glad he got my into this programe
John Sullivan: We'll never the likes of him again. The king of both comedy and drama. He's an inspiration to me. I love to write and I often make sure I have the correct balance of comedy and drama.
@DAJAZDJ1 well i think some of only fools was like a stage performance then other bits were like a cinima. also i think all the bits on screen like them in the market n running the streets with the huge brief case were on a screen for the audience
For me, in my mind, this is the final episode. A perfect ending. I do like the new rock and chips episodes though. Even though they are more drama than comedy.
A series that ran for 15 years and didn't jump the shark! Indeed, a series that ended right here at the peak of its powers, with 25 million UK viewers sharing these final moments of joy. Pure television perfection.
I loved this ending. Following on from the point that AYRAYR1 made, I think the final episode, Sleepless in Peckham, had just as much meaning as this episode. The Trotters finally becoming millionaires was perfect, but carrying on the issue of Rodney and Cassandra just had to be done. They gained some of their fortune back and seemed to fit right back in at home at Nelson Mandela House.
the reason i think they made them poor again was just like del said he missed the ducking and diving and i can relate to that that little bit of danger makes you feel alive must just be something primal in humans that survival instinct LONG LIVE HOOKEY STREET
I don't know if you can hear me over Del's trousers but this is the greatest TV show ever. There has never been a TV show that has made me cry laughing and cry with sadness in the same episode. I can't even count the times that this programme has amazed me with the writing
this shudda been the end. i don't have a problem with the prequels as that was great, i hear that john sullivan has written 6 episodes as more for the prequel, but this shudda been the end. it made only fools turn into the green green grass
@stevewhu but if u think about it its typical del boy luck. manages to cock everyting up lol would have made sense to end here but im just glad they squeezed a few more episodes in before they did end it
@mattjr73tube The last three specials that followed after this were alright in a way, but not as good, especially when Buster Merryfield passed away in 1999. It wasn't the same or as funny.
@DomWeasel because there was a demand for more christmas specials at the time and sleepless in peckham works well also as the final episode which it was
@DomWeasel I heard an interview with John Challis (Boycie) and he said they should have had those extra episodes because it was right to see Del lose the money again. He talked about how it wasn't in Del's nature to lay around with the perfect life (and this is highlighted at the end of this episode) and seeing Del lose the money brought his journey full circle.
