I just bought one on ebay for 30 with shipping. In all reviews they seem to say the highs and lows are very noticeable with this which is what I'm looking for. I listen to a lot of reggae so thats exactly what I need.

Wow, that's really good, especially for $20!! My dad bought one of those to use with his PowerBook G4 (old, yes, but not dead yet) and he said it really made a big difference. You got a much better deal though!

I didn't. I believe the XMod automatically raised the sound when the XFi is turned on. It sounds louder on.

f.y.i the creative xmod does not use the 3d technology by default on mac's. You have to go to audio midi setup and configure to creative xmod to output virtual 5.1 surround sound.
