Its beta Graphics. WoW graphics changed from beta to release. Warhammer graphics also changed from Beta to release, i can keep going with many games. The graphics are "OK" as is but they have more important things to implement and test during beta then optimal graphics.

Its an MMO... the graphics shouldn't be super detailed. You need to have least common denominator graphics so it can run (and run well) on not only gaming rigs. This isn't Battlefield 3. look at wow, this game looks way better than that graphically.

Seriously, why do people care so much about the graphics? They may not be amazing, but these look pretty good - at least good enough. Seriously, if your opinion of a game changes significantly just because the graphics aren't incredibly awesome...
@Scar8632 Muddy textures on the Sith's robe, face, and clothes, extreme lack of polygons on models (as in "blocky"), almost completely flat ground with a sand texture to make you think it's 3D, generally low res textures, and a very cartoon-y feel (which I wouldn't mind if it wasn't portrayed as something infinitely better in the trailers).
This is 2011 (almost 2012) and I'm sick of seeing all of these mediocre games. If companies want to make shit, then they better advertise it as shit.

What we're watching is one part of the game that is being played before even public beta testing was released. The graphics will be far better if/when you purchase and install the game to play it. I promise you that.

In other words; the graphics aren't spectacular because bad/non-gaming computers couldn't run the game if they were.
In TOR's case; it's graphics are the BEST graphics I've seen in the MMO genre.
If I had didn't have satellite internet (Which sucks some big D when it comes to gaming), I would totally buy this game. But I think the game would rape my computer... :(
Can anyone tell me how a MMO actually works? I don't have any 'gamer' friends so it's been years since I've even played over LAN. How do you coordinate with other players? Do you all have to agree to be online at the same time or can you just meet different people when it suits you?
@ShayLee0501 You play over the internet, connected to the company's server. Hundreds of thousands of people are playing, and thousands of players (probably more) will be online at any given time. You won't have to worry about not meeting people in an MMO.
@ShayLee0501 That's right. Maybe you're just looking for a quick group. There's a chat in game (which will have lots of activity from everyone) and you can ask there for a quick group. Maybe someone from that group was pretty funny / fun and you wouldn't mind playing with him/her again. You could add em to friends or whatever its called in SWTOR (ask them first, out of courtesy), and then next time you could ask them if they want to hang out or do some stuff together.
@JediNg135 Can you choose what order you do quests so that you can still play with the same people you liked even if one of you plays a lot more than the others? Or is it all level dependent?
I nearly played MMORPGs years ago when I bought the original WOW but I was a n00b and the tech support was too stupid to realise I needed to open a port on my router (simple!!!) so I couldn't get online or download the necessary updates and wasted my whole included month's trial. I gave up on MMO then.
All of you complaining about graphics are morons.. you need to realize if they made the graphics amazingly good... 95% of peoples computers couldnt handle it.... this is is a HUGE MMO game already taking up alot of harddrive and ramm.
@imerdem They had a choice ... graphics or the really extensive story progression system with vocieovers etc etc. If you combine the progressive story development the game has with so many different ways it can go and would add that with, let say TERA graphics for example .. .you'd end up with a game that needs a litle better than what's on the market at the moment, to run smoothly.

Combat is incredibly dull looking. What we need is a more action-oriented combat system in an MMO, much akin to the jousting style of combat present in EQ pvp brought to the modern day, with lightsabers. This is nothing more than a standoff, almost turn based crapper much like every other MMO in existence.
I am not at all excited about this game, its just not my kind of game. There are 2 star wars games I want: battle front 3 and KOTOR 3 (or a remake/fix of the 2nd one). guess I'll have to keep waiting
I liked the look of the first two KOTOR games much better. To me, this looks like the designers stylized the characters after a combination of WoW and The Clone Wars series. The first thing that I found troubling was this new design for sand. Tatooine was gorgeous in KOTOR, what's with this Halo-esque sand? Simply put, I think this is ugly; I'll stick to replaying the old games.

If you mean the actual trailers including game footage; they're mostly staged and done in higher and lower levels showcasing only the two, not the content in-between them.

Look at WoW, Back to ToR, Back to WoW NOW BACK TO TOR. Sadly WoW isn't ToR But if it stopped being bad and started being great it could LOOK like ToR. Look down, back up, where are you? Doesn't everyone who helped create this game feel sad that the free MMOs graphically look 10 times better. It looks the same as the first SWG game which came out years ago.....
Im not a qualified games market analyst or anything.. But from what I've seen, this could be the game that 'finally' can compete with WoW.
It's not a wow clone like 90% of all other mmos, it's not a niche market(like say EVE, or children as target audience). The voice acted quests give meaning to the grinding. And the star wars universe is well fleshed out, but in a blank time line with much room to evolve.
@MagicAccent I find your comment retarded due to the fact you said every mmo is copying wow, its just wow has set the bar and everything is trying to live up to it, this layout looks exactly the same only starwars so its pretty much Stars of the warcrafting. so anygame trying to kill it will be WoW with something added to it. Im probably going to pass up on this one, maybe look up the storyline on the interwebs. But I pray that the Mass Effect boys will go back and make kotor 3 after the mass effect 3 comes out
@tgt108 My guess is that you will get a companion character that will actually kinda function like an apprentice or padawan or "trainee" for the not force sensitive chars.
@Takashijsi from what I read one the SWTOR site, every class has its own tag along companion, which the plot kind of revolves around, for at least some of the quests.

Look at WoW, Back to ToR, Back to WoW NOW BACK TO TOR. Sadly WoW isn't ToR But if it stopped being bad and started being great it could LOOK like ToR. Look down, back up, where are you? You're scrolling through comments, finding the ones that your comment could look like. Back at mine, what is it? It's a highly effective counter-troll. Look again, MY COMMENT NOW HAS MANY THUMBS UP.

Im not a qualified games market analyst or anything.. But from what I've seen, this could be the game that 'finally' can compete with WoW.
It's not a wow clone like 90% of all other mmos, it's not a niche market(like say EVE, or children as target audience). The voice acted quests give meaning to the grinding. And the star wars universe is well fleshed out, but in a blank time line with much room to evolve.
Maybe, just maybe, BioWare can pull it off..

@MagicAccent I find your comment retarded due to the fact you said every mmo is copying wow, its just wow has set the bar and everything is trying to live up to it, this layout looks exactly the same only starwars so its pretty much Stars of the warcrafting. so anygame trying to kill it will be WoW with something added to it. So this game will never likely beat WoW.

@Takashijsi from what I read one the SWTOR site, every class has its own tag along companion, which the plot kind of revolves around, for at least some of the quests.
