  • I'm getting this game, i don't care how old it is. I'm getting it.

  • Wait... why the HELL was a single scout trying to destroy a bloody capital ship?!

  • nice audio, both with that music you found and the extra sound clips you put in

  • Why won't they make games like these now'a days

  • @GSanci1 Because they have to consider the "wider audience" and we all know what that means.

  • @0xC0FFEE1 the kids. i know adults like original games butt kids only want and expect them all to be similar somehow.

  • I miss Sierra and Digital Reality :(

  • all the ships getting destroyed are 0bamabots and libtards *lol*

  • been playing the first homeworld for so long I finally bought HW2, does online play still work?

  • laggggg

  • homeworld 1 has an option to get rid of unit capping. no mod neccesary.

  • Looks pretty awesome, but how is the control for it? Is it hard to maneuver, since it's in a 3-dimensional space?

  • @spideyrockz4ever once you get used to it, its fine. but at first, its pretty tough.

  • CHRISTMAS SHIPS! 1:07

  • Confused, is this:

A space RTS (the camera is just following the units)

The player takes control of some units in an action style

A mixture of both of the above

A free-roaming empire building space thing

  • Jesus christ. That's alot of ships. This is what war looks like.

  • I played this game on a wall projector a few times. It is awesome. I am ready for a sequel.

  • Thumbs up if you want a Homeworld 3

  • It would be awesome if destroyed capital just kinda floated around instead of bloving up and dissapering

  • WTF, there's a keeper in this battle!

  • I uploaded an HD version of this video... you can watch it by following the link in the description or the video response below.

  • @clearcutter74

    AWESOME!!!!!

  • I just realized the vid length is 4:20. Accidental? :p

  • @clearcutter74

Very awesome, this has to be the absolute best space battle I have seen in any game. :)

  • Wow, looks pretty good even by nowadays standards !

  • Can you upload this at 1080p?!?!?! Please please please please please with nuclear radiation on top??!?!!?!?!?! O.O

  • heard about possibility of Homeworld 3, if that's true they should try to use this music for the trailer, it just fits with all the sound effects and voice in my opinion

  • DDDDDAAAAAAAANNNNNNGGGGGG at 2:36 what the heck is that ship???

  • @RXrxp Dreadnaught

  • sucks cause i got a recent powerfull machine with win 7 pro and it lags and runs weird too bad cause its an awesome game

  • @critikdude It's mainly from the lack of multithreading.

  • is there a mod that just allows me to deploy the fleet at once ?

because i have to admit i'm not good at managing a battle and at the same time keeping my resources up.

  • Me likes. Needs to be in HD though, please geif! ;)

  • sins of solar empire ruins this game

  • @delsol00000 sins of a solar empire had a good concept... but the fighting is no where near as good as HW2

  • I have a question. I'm finding with HW2, I can crank the graphics in single palyer and it runs smooth (no matter how many units). In Multiplayer TCP/IP direct connect the game slows right down when I have other players in the screen. I did get a new grpahics card but its alot better then my old one. I'm wondering if it's my internet causing it. I go through a router to access high speed. I even turn all the grahpics down low and it still does it. any suggestions?

  • free?

  • @aznpride3214

You have to buy HW2. The mods are free.

  • AMAZING!

  • wish they would make a new homeworld ;( love see it HD

  • Homeworld never get old. It looks amazing now. It will look amazing in future.

Timeless graphic engine. Timeless atmospere. Timeless gameplay.

    This is true digital art.

  • Home world 2 is a truly epic game

  • Home world 1 is a truly epic game

  • I like the part at 3:35. There's all these missiles and laser fire closing on that big ship; it's taken heavy damage and leaking energy. But, then it's like the captain says: "You think we're finished!? Well then, suck on this mother-!" *FROOO* Massive ion cannon fire. Epic.

  • @Jonruy Actually it's massive phase cannon battery fire

  • Nice video man

  • i never saw those ships, is it new faction?

  • @AK12221 play trought the story :)

  • Actualy the graphics have aged really well. I play homeworld 2 through ever 2 years and it still looks amazing...

  • is Homeworld 2 better than Sins of a Solar Empire?

  • @Talyis84 Way better!

  • I can't believe I actually thought Star Wars: Empire at War was better then this for a time ... I stand corrected, it's Space battles having NOTHING compared to badassery of Homeworld 2.

  • @Elzebub666

Thats because [HW2] only focus on Space Battle.

While [ SW: EaW ] has land battle included.

BUT... Relic is still better than Petroglyph.

  • Why do the effects look so much better in this vid than in others? Is that a mod of some sort?

  • It is a mod, but as far as I know the effects are the same as the original game. Maybe it's because I zoomed in closer to the ships?? A lot of HW2 vids don't zoom in close enough, in my opinion.

  • @clearcutter74 It looks damn good. Maybe the sheer number of ships makes it look better. Great vid man

  • ion cannon sound <3

  • Fantastic video. Whoever's playing Higaaran appears to be having a bad day.

  • good movie 5/5

  • i especially like the extravagant ship designs

well the battlecruiser look kinda generic, but all these small ships have an own look that you don't see everyday

the design itself really is amazing

    awesome game in a whole

*hopes for homeworld 3 DO IT RELIC!!!*

  • This game is a timeless classic. I swear, no matter how much time passes, as soon as I see the Homeworld 2 box sitting on the shelf I have to fight myself to try and ignore it and play my newer games.

  • @TornadoRayne me too but then i learned that i could replace the textures with updated graphics looks like a 2010 game lol

  • I recently re-installed this game and instantly remembered all my old tactics....and how good is it when you maintain a massive fleet against incredible odds...

    What a game.

Maybe oneday we'll be playing Homeworld 3

  • i would be so much looking forward to it

would be much more ass kicking than starcraft 2 could ever be

  • i love this game, im going to get it agian,

for the third or fourth time......

i like to make up scenarios for it in skirmish, it'd be cool if we could make our campaigns.

  • From all the mods i've seen the potential of this game is crazy it seems like it has much more potential than star wars empire at war

  • Oh yeah it does.

Even the clean game is unbelievable. I know I fell in love with it at first demo. :)

  • I prefer Complex mod, once your crew station is advanced enough you can have enough ship to crash nearly any PC.

  • how did you get soo many ships !?!?

  • I used a mod called Capturable Fleets to make this vid. It doesn't have unit caps like the regular game, so you can get a lot of ships.

  • Excellent! i thought some of these HW2 vids were riyt-onn but what a fitting tune.

i favor vagyrs due to personal lifestyle but honor the valor of the higarians. if utbe has haal of fame, this 1 should b in it. keep up the good!

    l8tR

  • u could say that + 3d movment in space

  • Look up 'Real-time Strategy' sometime.

  • age of empires is a rts

  • Yes, it is, and so is the Homeworld series.

It just seems that Mlikota doesn't know of the genre as a whole.

I'm not trying to be a smartass, if that's what you mean. >_>

  • crystal method rules

  • ye i was thinkin the Dreadnaught was gonna be insanely powerful, like Sajukk, but it gets pwned pretty easy because it has to turn to brinbg its wain canon to fire D:

Sajukk pwns though, on a flyby, it can kill battlecruisers without even having to stop :D

  • never saw hat faction at 2:14 is it playable

  • That's a Progenitor Dreadnaut, and yeah it's playable, though only in single-player without mods. You get one about half-way through the game I believe. A real powerhouse of a ship, though it needs babysitters. I think in a couple missions you have to fight them too, I dont' remember though.

  • You dont need to fight it and its only good versus capital. Ships smaller than frigates can easilly outnumber it in nummers

  • sorry for duoble post but how did he just focus the cam on a missle in 0:58

  • To focus the camera on a missile you have to use alt-focus and band-select the missile. So hold the alt key then click and drag a box around it.

  • thanks man

  • No absolutely no Total War in space, CA would make thousands of promises and keep none like they did with most of Empire Total War.

Besides there is no PC on EARTH capable of running a game that would have thousands of spaceships battle it out.

  • uhm then how do you explain the pc that can handle sins

  • I said thousands, at the same time, the largest battle I ever engaged in was 3000 ships in total and it ran smoothly cause we had agreed on no Advent.

You know that ship that shields other ships by emitting a RAM buttfuck light show? If we had enough of those we'd have trouble running a 300 ship battle.

But just think of TW, current Graphics in space? Sins works by having no actual battle map, just a battle zone (Grav-well).

Now think extremely detailed map with thousands of ships. FPS:1

  • They could make a mod of it and use that. besides it could be done just look at infinity and see how much can be done with so little

  • maybe be not now...but look how the whole series graphics evolved from shogun tw to empire tw... i bet in 2 or 3 years pc capacity wont be the problem anymore

  • It's not graphics I'm talking about I'm talking about Pricing.

The strongest computer in the world that is still the size of a normal Desktop costs roughly 10'000 dollars. I can't afford that thing but it will run Empire using maybe 20% of it's full capacity.

So it's not that Graphics are a problem cause Graphics have evolved 50% more since last February, Burst is a good example of how far we came already, but affordability.

So Galaxy: Total War is possible, for the three people able to play.

  • lol a mac tower full price is 25.000 dollars

  • tthey should finaly bring the total war series in space..would love to see massive battles with thousands of units in space

  • And eventually combine it with some other gaming ideas like having planet-side assaults like in imperium.

  • Your talking about combining 5 different copyrighted ideas here. If that wasn't illegal I'd have kidnapped Sid Meier a long time ago and have him sort out the campaign part of TW.

But of course I'll be optimistic for your sake and hope that people will look past that all and just make a great game.

Maybe have like space battles Sins style planet side battles TW and Campaign like EU or Civilization.

  • I think he means with today's shaders, texturing, and high-poly models.

  • Very Entertaining video. I havent played Homeworld 2 in quite a while. This will encorage me to play it again.

  • they need to make an updated version of this game with today's tech

  • wtf you mean by todays tech

  • lol i reckon this should be the advert for homeworld 2

  • lol this is such a good video and tune...i always winf up coming back to it...its edited sooooo nicely.

  • thanks :)

  • this game needed a Battlefleet Gothic mod

  • wow did you play battlefleet gothic?

  • ya i did a long time ago. i dont own any ships from that line anymore tho.

  • i never played it but it looked interesting. ive only seen 4 people who played it.

  • Great video . :)

  • you can capture ships on the normal one but on this mod u can capture fighters and capture everything without them in this one i believe.. but normal still makes most sense

  • SAjUUK owns :D

  • The Homeworld games are the only games that are actually easy to control.. Every other space game i´ve ever played has never been as easy to control as Homeworld!

Homeworld! Simply the best game ever!

  • trying pasting

    "C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Re lease\Homeworld2.exe" -mod

into a text file. Then create a shortcut of the hw2.exe in the bin folder. Paste it into the target, should get you working.

  • It looks like your install path might have a space in it. Mine isn't installed in the default folder either but there's no spaces in the path. Try installing it to C:\homeworld\

  • Try making a new shortcut to the hw2 exe file and make sure there aren't any quotation marks in the target box. My shortcut target is:

    C:\Program Files\Sierra\Homeworld2\Bin\Release\Homeworld2.exe -mod capturablefleets.big -GameRules capturablefleets

Also make sure your game is patched to version 1.1

    Hope this helps.

  • Dude i just both this game yesterday .. And gues what i just ended the main story. GREAT game and KICK ass Graphics for 2003. Story is great the same as in HM1 .. The best thing is you build up your army all the time.

  • cant wait for homeworld 3

  • if it shows up...

It would RAPE eve if they did it right

  • i know

  • will thgere be one?

  • rellic has all but said there making one

  • great compilation....it's FX mod i'm right?

  • No, I made this with a mod called Capturable Fleets.

  • great game

  • i'm looking foward to buy it.

    i'm downloading the demo now

  • This looks pretty sweet, I think I am going to try to get this game.

  • This is the best space RTS ive played

  • Then you havnt played nexus.

  • Well its kinda old so its not da best game in universe but it rocked few years ago

  • I have taken a liking to the x3 serious check em out on steam.

  • That game is from 2003...but it still rocks^^...get the demo and give it a try..

    To the uploader...real nice footage^^

  • i think im goin gett this game it looks really fun :)

  • Yes, the Sajuuk Dreadnaught, absolutely beautiful at 2 minutes and firing that Phased Cannon :D

  • Dude the Vid kicks ass, i love this Game, but the more vids i see of it, the more i want to just kick ass ^^

    great job

  • i used to play this religiously. absolutely breath taking game, ruined RTS's for me, nothing compares to HW2.

If your interested in something more up to sate, sins of a solar empire is roughly similar but more of a conquest mode play style.

  • Sins is great, but still doesn't match up to Homeworld 2.

  • Nothing besides HW1 matches up HW2.

  • @dirtydog1985 No, Sins is a Galactic Empire Simulator :P

  • @inzane456

True but its still epic & the best where gonna get till home world 3 :P

what is it with sci fi games and sequels? they never seem to happen, look how long weve waited for star craft 2, and its still not out o.0

  • skimish modes?

  • so someone please tell me everything about this game what do u do is this an RTS can i makes 1000s of ships how many factions are there it looks amazing i have sins of a solar empire it it like that what some please answer cant find any reviews or info on this game anywhere can i customize the look of my ships?

  • Yes, it's an RTS. Your best bet would be to look up Homeworld 2 on Wikipedia. That'll give you all the basic info about the game. There are also a lot of mods available that add new ships and change the gameplay. If you're interested in getting mods for it, check out these sites:

    moddb. com

    forums. relicnews. com

It's a great game, I highly recommend it.

  • awesome game!

    What's the fighter at 2:38 ?

  • It's an attack drone used by the Progenitors in the single player missions. The only way you can ever use it is if you're playing a mod that unlocks it.

  • Thanks! Is there any way I can get pictures of them?Their design is really cool!

  • If you have the game you can take screenshots with the Print Screen key, otherwise I don't know where to find pics of it, sorry.

  • it would be cool if they made hw3 but used a really detailed onelike te one on coh

  • i love homeworld 2 (L)

  • damn im glad i got into this game, kick ass video man

  • Brings back such good memories of countless hours spent on multiplayer too hehehe.

the key to a good game is agreeing with your opponent for a 15-30 min peace treaty so you can both build up massive fleets...then try and fucking micromanage during the epic battle to follow.

hahaha never really works out the way ya plan it too...awesome game.

  • really well done on this vid mate, the way to vid fits in with the tune, nice editing :)

  • wow this games looks 1000x better than sins

  • I wish that was true...sins is a beautiful game.

  • sins has a lot of details but Homeworld 2 has 1000x better art design.

  • Sins = best strategy RTS even in the present Sins= boring and bad >.> the turrets dont move and sins and in this they do and also this has more action and realism and directx9 kickass graphics for 1999 or 2003

  • such an aweome game and havent played it yet :(

  • prety good video

  • Can someone help me? Every time I install Homeworld 2, everything is washed in red brown. The opening logos, the menu, the gameplay, everything. Is something wrong with the disc or my computer? I'm not terribly computer-savvy, and I didn't have this problem with the first Homeworld

  • You're probably running on an old video card.

  • I forget the song name but I'm 100% positive the artist is Crystal Method.

  • whats name of the music?

  • High Roller by Crystal Method.

  • Forget about star wars and battlestar,

    this is THE SHIT!

  • Nice video! Good job ;]

Btw... What programe you use to record HW2 battle scenes?

  • Thanks! I used Fraps. It can record most PC games.

  • Ok thanks. Maby sometime I made some video in HW2. One more time thanks for help ;]

  • game looks decent im a big fan off space warfare games just hard to find them around now days this looks tempting but not quite sure just yet bin playin nexus and this dousnt seem to compare but i might give it a go.

  • this game has stuff nexus doesn't. like research, resourcing, and building. ya the gfx aren't as good as nexus but this game is older then nexus, and i say its still pretty damn good.

its worth buying. you can also easily make your own maps with skunks HW2 map editor, and modding isnt that hard either. the homeworld series is what started space biased RTS gaming. i myself have 3 copy's. i wanna play till i die.

  • Nice video footage. Poor choice in music for this in my mind.

  • i dont get why everyone thinks ships in space need to move slow it's the future you ever see a space shuttle move it's freaking fastand it's like 100 tons and only has a couple of thrusters the ones in the vid have huge thrusters and can go in to hyperspace and thats faster then the speed on light

  • These sort of spacecraft would probably actually be moving at a fair fraction fo the speed of light.

  • Very nice

  • 2:09 - 2:05=NICE

  • good video, good song

  • i like how in hw2. the hyperspace is much cheaper

  • I whold be bettre if it cost energy or something

  • your complety right man just installed it again with my own modifications on and just noticed the difference between my slow speed fighters and corvettes(more damage and armor) and the normal ''fast'' fighters)

  • Oh, the ships move slow enough, but the fighters don't. Thats...pretty much the gist of what he filmed.

  • meh, i think the wars in HW2 are way too fast paced, i mean it just doesen't have that much of a "ur in space" feel to it like SoaSE. You would imagine the ships in space to move slowly. The game is great anyway, but i prefer Sins.

  • Homeworld 1 had fairly long battles and the distances made travel seem slow aswell. Homeworld had than feeling of loneliness and vastness to it, unlike this sequel.

  • not to mention the fact that the enemy doesn't s
