I don't strictly agree with you about "meaning." Meaning is a human construct, but within our realm it's quite, well, meaningful. That time is long, life is short, the universe is big, and our Gods are fictions doesn't mean that we can't hold certain things, acts, etc. as "meaningful." Also, atheists believe that death is the end of life. Daddy can't love when he is annihilated in death. So he cannot "always" love this child. Also, this assumes that God is merely one who punishes -- no mention made of other images of God.

Communism and atheism are completely different things, freedom of religion is permitted in both of these countries.
It is believed Stalin was pantheist (nature and God are the same) and although he wasn't a fan of religion he did reopen churches during his reign.

Assuming what you said is true, why would a being powerful enough to create the entire universe and its near infinite complexities bother with a species so insignificant as humans? My main problem with religion is the anthrocentricities that follow it. That and the hypocrisy and war. My point is, what makes humans so special so demand the attention of a divine being?

@vastleft Love is a subjective experience in your own words, it's something we experience, and do not measure. For instance a drunk wife-beating child-abusing father loves his child less than a well-adjusted, warm-hearted parent. But you cannot quantify that, and because you can't, you can't make objective statements about love. That means as an atheist you must think this song is trash. Furthermore, you conclude on a high note, saying there shall be no lies, that is a Commandment, from God.FAIL

@uiruu no matter how u put it everything goes back to creating.. what im trying to say is if the big bang even is true who made the lil mass? key word made! there for an athiest is also a believer in creation?. and how is our dna evovled when it contains so much fine detail? put it this way... the sand in beach is kinda made by evolving! but our dna is as if some one wrote sam was here in the wet sand on the beach! then thats a whole defrent story from evolution think about it.

Based on THE EVIDENCE WE HAVE NOW, there is no God. There could be evidence SOMETIME IN THE FUTURE that proves his existence. But for now, nope.

@uiruu dude theres actually more evidence that god is real than evolution!. as a matter of fact scientest actually have no real evidence of evolution at all just theorys!. we have 98 % similar dna too bananas but that doesnt mean we came from them! lol. if we actually knew the real reason god created the universe our heads would explode i mean its god for crying out loud! think about it!. but look even god put in the bible that all our unsolved questions will one day be answered by him.!

At one point, they were killed by Penicillin, but then evolved so that they could not be killed by it. Did God purposely evolve them so that they could go past antibiotics? And please, go ahead and list all your sources on the "facts" you claimed.

I don't strictly agree with you about "meaning." Meaning is a human construct, but within our realm it's quite, well, meaningful. That time is long, life is short, the universe is big, and our Gods are fictions doesn't mean that we can't hold certain things, acts, etc. as "meaningful." Likewise memories aren't an illusion, they're stored information. And love is a feeling and a motivator. (to be continued)

@KaraRvn, It doesn't HAVE to be meaningless, but it certainly can be. And, of course, since atheists see human beings as merely a product of evolution and chance, then we are all just a fancy mishmash of biochemicals and bioelectricity. Thus, any meaning we impose on such a fragile existence is merely a human construct. Ultimately, such meaning is so tenuous and changeable that it is not even worth subscribing to for a day, much less a lifetime. But I am a theist, so I see things differently.

I'm always scratching my head over the "merely chemicals" statement, from people who believe that humans were formed from dirt and the breath of a god. Really, how could any infusion of the supernatural be BETTER than a natural explanation? Why is it more rewarding to think of yourself as "merely" a ghost inhabiting flesh, rather than a marvelous array of atoms?

However, I do resent when it goes the other way -- atheists assume that all theists are brainwashed from birth (how does that explain for example, two of my dear friends who grew up in atheist households with atheist parents and finally converted to Christianity much later in life when they were adults? Also, read my words -- I didn't say it has to be meaningless, but the possibility is there, especially for an atheist.

Ah, another lie as well. "In dreams we fly." This is not true. Flying in dreams is not real flying. It is an illusion, if flying occurs at all. Of course, dreaming can involve nightmares. This is omitted for some strange reason. Next lie, "When you wake, a new adventure." Maybe yes, maybe no. Much of life is spent with one day looking much like the other. "No lies between us." Another lie, since I have already mentioned many lies sung in this song. So much for atheist lullabys.

@TheHardy2defy Theists do not generally make lullabys they have prayer before sleep, a moment of joy and genuine connection in a matter of importance whereas this 'lullaby' seems more to be about the atheist getting high on himself and his abilities than actually soothing the child, the ONLY thing that truly strikes a chord with people is the ending, about no lies. Funny thing is, that's not an atheist sentiment, that's a Commandment from God. The only thing that WORKS in this song is biblical:)

Hmmm, let's take a look at this. "But your Daddy always loves you." This is a lie. The Daddy referred to here is the earthly Daddy. There is no guarantee that this Daddy will love the child. Also, atheists believe that death is the end of life. Daddy can't love when he is annihilated in death. So he cannot "always" love this child. Also, this assumes that God is merely one who punishes -- no mention made of other images of God.

now, to say whether religion played NO role, does that mean that the soldiers on the battlefield had no religious faith, or that neither side in the conflict(s) used the 'God is on our side' claim in order to gain support from the citizens of their countries and spur on their own soldiers? that's another kettle of fish altogether...but using that claim does not make it a 'religious war'...nearly every war in history was fought for political or economic reasons
