And thats what I hate about kenwood, their user interface is to flipping complicated and drawn out, it took you 45 secs just to get where you were going on there. Not your fault...its kenwoods.
sorry if it sounds off topic here...im planning to buy a 01 sc430 just wondering if the original LCD/navi monitor is able to watch DVDs or do i have to change anything in order to watch DVDs?? thanks alot!!!
I have an Alpine system in my SC 430 Were you able to get the volume and track controls on the sterring wheel to work? Is there a kit for that. My installers have been trying for years to find something.
Hey Guys, this is a superior reference tool for all SC430 owners who want to get the Kenwood Head Unit. Thanks alot and you guys did a great job. I have a few questions I'm hoping you can help me with. Did you use abs plastic for the trim around the head unit? Was it hard to do the trim? Lastly, can you tell me what dash kit did you use because I am having a hard time finding one for the Kenwood? Thanks in advance, once again superior job done.
Habious, we made no claim to fabricating the top screen. only that we were able to use the assembly to our advantage in the new install. sorry for being proud of our work. i see you have vids here too. nice work
We wanted resolution of the top screen to match the high intensity of the Kenwood. we not happy with the composite output that the Kenwood gave the top screen so we modified the Navigation RGB/Sync output and feed this screen a high quality video signal.
The old cassette player, the rear cd/cd rom disc player, the Mark Levinson digital amplifier and all speakers were removed and replaced
The top screen is not factory ( that old piece was obsolete a long time ago)
It was replace by a aftermarket 7" TFT RGB / VGA screen)
We removed the oem touch screen and modified the motorized the workings of the tilt and motor assembly( which is factory) to work just like the original .
The top screen is a monitor,a slave to the bottom Kenwood 7" touch screen that controls all functions including teaching the top screen to open and close.
The super-cool state-of-the-art second screen, that emerged from the hidden, powered door...is factory. They didn't install that.
The fact that the super-cool door closes automatically when he took the key out...all SC430's with navigation (which is virtually all) do this, by default.
I think the installation is very clean but, I don't think it's cool to try to pass off some of this really slick stuff as something you did.
habious, the top door won't work if you replace the stereo/nav. There is a lot involved once you replace the factory units to make those doors work again. Yes, a stock SC has those features but they are lost once replaced with aftermarket unit.s
I just had this same kenwood installed in my Infiniti and I like your installation way better then mine. I wish I could have the bezel in mine look like this one. They did a great job........good vid!!!!!!
WOW, That is amazing. Wish I was close to you.
I love my SC430. The only thing I hate is the Cops keep giving me tickets. I think they got addicted with giving tickets to red sporty cars.

I believe the OEM system just plays DVD-ROM for Nav discs not movie DVD's.

hey guys what was the price in this after all is done?
Thanks..and were you able to intergrate the stering wheel hand controls from original oem to work on this one?
olsliproc 2 years ago
$4500 Canadian dollars = $3600. U.S.
...and yes we did maintain the steering wheel controls again no easy task as we went in with no third party wiring info.
