  • I tend to just use live rounds...

  • i use an wrench to remove the bullet carefully so i dont mess it up to much then i take out the gunpowder of the cartridge and save it. after that i place the round in the firearms and discharge the primer. and last but not least i put the bullet back in the neck and then squese the neck into form and set som hot glue in it.

  • would it be better to use hot glue in the primers?

  • Comment removed

  • is it posable to make them w/o the press and dies and stuff. i would only usethem for the dummies.

  • is there any possible way to make dummy cartridges from rimfire cases without damaging the firing pin?

  • @MitchReyno look up snap caps on google.

  • This was a cool video, awesome work bench!

  • you are fallout 3

  • Works like a swiss watch! Very nice! I just took bullet out, pour the gunpowder out, "shoot" the empty cartdigre and press the bullet back in. Oh, and for weight, add some of finest sand in(done that for my kar98)!

    Best regards, Jakey.

  • good vid but what if you don't have a press...my instructors drill theirs.

this is a very well detailed informative reloaders snap cap project.

  • I just got my dies today, and made 10 .303 snap caps/dummy rounds using these instructions. They're perfect! I didn't bother filling them with anything, and also drew a line around the casing with permanent marker so that I can tell dummy snap caps from live rounds both visually and physically. Thanks for the info, your vids are awesome!

  • Neat video! However, it's gotta be annoying when you reach for a pencil and the gat damn eraser has been cut off! I'd highly recommend looking into "mechanical stick erasers" or "mechanical pencil eraser replacements/refills" Same diameter of the regular pencil eraser and no pesky pencil to get in your way!

  • @hemptime123

Your not very bright any person that served whether or not deployed is still a veteran the only thing that a deployment would do is make you a combat vet

  • people that fough tin iraq wont be recodnised as veterans, sorry buddy

  • @hemptime123 And why not? They were there.

  • people thta foughtin iraqw wont be recodnised as veterans, sorry buddy

  • WHAT IS THE INTRO SONG!? thx

  • why cant you just put bullets in empty shells?

  • @DayLight95 Because the primer would still go off.

  • Beautiful knife, what knife is that?

  • thanks a lo!!!t finally i dont have to waste money on "spec-op dummies" which rip off at $300 a box

  • When I was younger, my parents bought me a wach with 9mm rounds in there 6 of them on each side. Thinking they were blanks or dummy rounds. But the primer was still there and they just drilled a hole in the casing for the powder to let out. I still have those somewhere, not the wach. Some people just don't know anything about it and can lead to injuries. In spain, they still have these I think.

  • bear with me here... lmao

  • you should cut towrds you

  • is the second picture in the intro, where is says your name, taken from one of your martini henry vids? I actually haven't watched them in completion but i love martini henries my grandad has one from 1874

  • hey great vid but for future reference don't say "bare with me i know this is dry" if i thought this vid was stupid or boring i wouldn't have watched it i personally think the is a great way of making dead rounds in a safe and responsible way

  • i think tacome1942 makes the best dummy rounds and paper gun

  • so what are dummy rounds for?

  • good vid,but if u read your comment its seems 14 year olds know more than you,! not hating on u man just these little trolls i-e-below!

  • how does he not know how. im 14 and i know how and i dont even reload wow

  • hey, that seems really hard to do, i will post an easier way on how to make blanks i will video response it to you :)

  • 10:07 That's what she said! lololol Sorry, I had to.

  • Why would anybody want dummy rounds?

  • lol i just use a spent shell for my .22 dummy round and it works just fine.

  • why not use sand as your dummy powder

  • nice job

  • sweet another iraq vet. what branch my brother??????

  • cool this is just what i needed now i can make some for my .577-450

  • instead of an eraser use hot glue

  • aint you from the fancy north or the south

  • arent 308 30-06 and 300wm bullets all the same only the casings are dif?

  • @golfer15963 Yup. All the bullet diameters are roughly the same. Most bullets however will be slightly above or below that, depending on the diameter of the bore of the individual rife that a person is loading for. You can buy .310 diameter bullets if the rifle has a larger bore. Or some are smaller actually and are closer to .307-.3075. It mainly depends on the rifle. To find its true bore diameter you "slug" the barrel, which means run a soft lead ingot down the bore to get the right size.

  • @golfer15963 thay all take .308" bullets

  • Could you fill them with sand instead of the Polly fill?

  • was that a case?

  • sure as hell will scare the kids off of your lawn hahaha

  • Was that pocket knife a Case?

  • @fluffydub didnt look like one when i saw the whole knife

  • nice video man, i no this is stupid, but wat kind of phone do u have there???? its been nagging cuz i cant tell wat it is

  • @giorgios95 Blackberry Storm or Storm 2 prolly.. Or maybe a Samsung Omnia. LOL sorry if im completely off but thats what it looks like to me

  • May I ask how much ad revenue per click you get on average? As support, I've clicked an ad about fifty times... xD

  • @TheAnonymousReviewer He dosn't. Sence he has the music he has the ad. You tube is getting money not him this time.

  • Do you ever mark them so you know that they are dummies?

Great channel you got by the way!

  • @peterahjorter Yes...I painted the bullets with a black sharpie.

  • @Iraqveteran8888 Good vid, but it might be good idea if you annotate the vid to remind people to paint them as you did. Thumbs up.

  • @Iraqveteran8888 Im in need of some striper clips of a russian 91/30. What do you suggest that would be best in your travels, feeding wise?

  • Awesome video, man. Thanks for sharing. By the way, you sound so friggin' much like Danny McBride. I mean that in the most awesome way possible.

  • lol...You're not the first person to tell me that...

  • @Iraqveteran8888 not spamin but check out tacome1942

  • mouse cookies lol nice job

  • @curtispa

    lol...mouse cookies...

  • Dummy rounds in the UK usually have oiled unfired primers and are filled with epoxy before seating and crimping the bullet,if they are to be used as a training round a 3-4mm hole is drilled midway along the casing to signify it as being a dummy.

  • @silver760

    Interesting...

  • ever try using ground walnut like whats used for cleaning cases as a fill? To me it adds a more realistic weight to the cartridge and the fact it rattles like powder makes it better for misfire training. I hadnt thought to use a filler in the primer area, ive just been using spent primers, cool!

  • Never tried walnut media, but sounds like a really good idea to me.

Using a 180 grain bullet in this caliber seems to help even out the lack of weight from the powder being gone.

  • I do basically the same thing but from trial and error Ive discovered the impact surface of the primer last longer as a firing pin cushion if you use a punch and hammer and flatten the dimple in the primer then use hot glue as your "springy" compound in the primer cup. The hot glue is a bit stiffer than pencil eraser which prolongs the life of its usefulness.

  • Sounds like a perfectly good idea to me...There are a lot of ways to do this....I may try your idea next time and see how I like it.

  • I just made some 303 British dummy rounds two days ago rounds

  • Cool...

  • loved it. Makes me want to get some reloading equipment even more haha.

  • Good....thats the idea!

  • Even though its probably been said a few times before, make sure you know which ones are dummy rounds and which ones are LIVE! lol They will look so much alike that you could make the mistake of grabbing a live round to "dry fire" but instead put a round through your neighbors living room. Its one thing to say "Aw, I will know the difference" and "I wont make that mistake" but it only takes one time to fuck up and have your entire police dept at your door. Maybe paint the ends of the rounds*****

  • I agree. I neglected to say anything about it in the video, but nothing should ever be taken for granted when it comes to gun safety. I should not assume that my youtube audience will know the difference either. So yes, for the record, spray paint them white, or color them with a sharpie....something to readily tell them apart.

  • Cool, nice video.

  • it would most likely half to be on a weekend if i came by eric. been workin 6 days a week at briggs. unless i came by around noon or so one day. how bout i give ya $5 for a few and ya put me in the next drawing?

  • You know...I forgot that you are local....sorry...Yeah that will be fine. Just PM me and we will work out the details. I can polish your Mosin at the same time.

  • Great vid, as always.

  • I make them out of spent Mil Surplus and just put a new bullet in the spent case. Just use a lead bullet you will not make them so expensive and then when you get the bullet seated factory crimp them in place.

  • I've done that before to decent effect.

  • I just don't like waist good boxer primed brass on dummy rounds when mil surplus is so available. I have some nice Bulgarian that is actually brass not steel.

  • I prefer commercial brass for dummies because they tend to have slightly thinner rims (in 7.62x54r and other rimmed cartridges) which make them easier to feed and cycle.

  • Good video Iraqvet I plan on makeing some 38special so my daughter can practice working the leaver on her new rossi 38-357mag.I'm thinking of filling the primer hole with silicone ruber and seeing how that works instead of the penicle rubber.

  • That sounds like a perfectly good idea.

  • I have punched out thick leather and glued that in the primer pocket.

  • Good idea as always...lol

  • hey i dont have reloading stuff would you sell them?only need 5 but is that worth the trouble?

  • These 5 are going to Cutlerylover, but I'll be happy to make you 5 for $12. I'll include a stripper clip. PM me for details.

  • hey your comment never showed up as new sorry hmmm ill think about it $12 bucks is alot when i think of what elese i can buy although alot goes into it ill get back to you in a PM

  • It's cool man. Boxer primed brass isn't cheap man. I can use old surplus rounds if you want to save 4 bucks...

  • yeah i understand like i said alot goes into making them is that postage paid?

  • Let me see how much it ends up costing to send them to Jeff...All in all, it shouldn't be a problem. I am not looking to make money, but I can't lose money.

  • Hey i have no problem with that who wants to lose money. Let me know buddy.

  • I'll be using this vid some day. In a few months time I figure. Very informative. :)

  • Now that's cool info!

    Great video!

  • I never thought to put rubber in the primer. I've always just left the old anvil in there and never had a problem.

  • i heard you can put a small brass screw in the primer spot and fill the shell with hoy glue with the bullet

  • i'd like to see them hit with a sharpie marker or something so you don't get used to seeing brass in the chamber when testing trigger feel ... but great process, great vid

  • I would make sure to put something on the round so you know its the dummy, you would get quite a surprise putting a round through your livingroom wall haha

  • @andrewdoyle88

To identify dummy rounds. I drill a 1/8" hole through the case about half-way between case mouth and base. I have scores of different calibers that I pass around in my Hunter Ed classes so the kids can see what different cartridges look like. Most of my dummys are made from brass I pick up off the range. My last creation was a .22 Hornet (Students are surprised how tiny that thing is compared to a .300 Win Mag).

  • Blaine, Try a Green Sharpie pen, probably works to. Anyone know where to get the full set of NG, G, and F headspace gauges for Mosin Nagant? Excellent condition?

  • @hangemhigh2000

A Sharpie will work on dummy rounds that don't get handled much. The ink wears off with a bit of use and needs to be reapplied. Holes are easy enough to do and are a permanent and readily visible indicator that you have a dummy cartridge. Holes and longitudinal crimps in the case are universal indicators of dummy rounds. As such, they are essential to me to ensure I never make the mistake of having live rounds in my shooting classes or when I'm dry-firing.

  • Try Brownells for the gauges....You may get lucky on Gunbroker also....

  • you know of anywhere local (mcdonough) area i can get some stripper clips for my mosin eric? havent seen any around the places ive looked. might end up orderin. plannin on spendin a day down at charlie elliot wma shootin and fishin in the next week or 2. just been itchin to use some strippers with the gun

  • @Stangtt

Ebay, the brass ones are about .85 cents a piece shipped.

  • You can have a few if you want to come over and get them...

  • : )

  • "dry area"? You're one of the few who has a clue on YT. Please contine to share your info.

  • Eric - excellent! Great info.

  • Thanks doc...

  • Great video. Very interesting process you've got there.

  • Thanks you lucky devil...lol

  • lol hey I wont even lie that's the first time in my life I've ever won anything. Lady luck is not know to visit me to terribly often lol

  • Is this illegal?

  • Making dummy cartridges? No....

  • thanks

  • p.s beautiful pocket knife, WR Case and Sons?

  • Yes...

  • Nice and Easy . Right tools for the right job . 5 *

  • Great vid bro 5*

  • Thanks I really appreciate the video! I dont currently have any reloading equiptment right now, but plan to eventually get into it, from what I understand its a whole other hobby on its own, haha

  • No need my man. These dummies will be in the mail to you free of charge.

  • MUCH appreciated!

  • This this absolutely great info. I like to practice a lot in my own home, but really don't feel comfortable to practice loading and what not with live ammo, and just don't happen to have any snap-caps or dummies lying around.

So this is really nice for me. Great video, thanks for showing this.

  • Glad you liked it.

  • thanks
