  • hi did you do anything special when installing the game on dosbox? because the game refuses to run on 0.74...

first I copied the setup files from the cd on my harddrive, launched setup.exe with dosbox and it installed. then it told me how to launch the game after that it seemed like he wanted to load a "first run" setup but I just get a black screen.

  • why you play on dosbox a windows game?

  • @DBV30 it's a dos game. Are you thinking of another game that looks similar?

  • @samortails i have the original version of that game and it's fully for windows executable.

  • @DBV30 It did run in Windows 9x's DOS mode (the one running inside Windows, without having to quit out of the os), desktop icon and all, but it's a DOS game for sure, unless there's another version of the game I don't know about. There were a few games at that time that had both a Windows and DOS version, such as the Need for Speed, and IndyCar Racing 2... But the version of Screamer I have is certainly DOS only... the same goes for both sequels (Screamer 2 and Screamer Rally)

  • can anybody get a torrent or location from where i can download this game?

  • I never seen this back in the day. Looks awesome though I'll have to give it a try.

  • always liked the first Screamer better than the others...S2 was ok,but from Rally on,they just lost it..

  • have you ever heard of brakes? i hated the commenter.

  • I think this song is what they were playing on the speakers @ grocery land today when I was buying food.

  • Yes nowadays it's about 3d graphics with realistic shading n stuff but lack of playability... but back then you have more colourfull sceneries and music.

  • This gave Ridge Racer a run for it's money. Probably the best non-japanese Arcade Racing game.

  • stupid game.

  • @piccolino666 If you hate the game so much, why are you watching it you dimwit?

  • sucky game! in those days nfs ruled!

  • I can't download this game can you help me?

  • where can i download this game for free?

  • in this episode the cars looked way better than in the sequel...

  • Those cam turns gave me a headache

  • This is the only racing game that I could just play for hours on end!!!

  • Oh my god! Someone PLEASE port this baby to the Dreamcast asap!

Many older 3d PC games work on DC with proper porting, so its possible!

  • that would be great, let's hope developer MileStone (aka Grafity) releases the sourcecode some day...

  • ure great cuz u have a Dreamcast ^^ i would like a dreamcast myself.

  • ohhh what a game.

  • could you please do a tutorial for this? it won't run on neither of my computers. the idea of having to get an old pc just to run screamer and tnfs pisses me of. i hate bill gates.

  • Cannot open main file : GEN.dat... can anyone help me? I'm using dosbox 0.72 but I tried with 0.65, too. And I did not find version 0.70

  • you gotta run setup.exe first, otherwise it wont create a config file

  • I did it but didn't work either but thanks!

  • can someone send me a download link

    for this game?.....

  • nope

  • go buy it ^________________^

  • OMG this game was mint back in the day I loved it, spent hours playing!

  • One of the, if not, THE best racing game of its time.

  • i love this game lol

  • cant beat the classic games i mean im only 14 so i cant remember most of thease games but i love them like old ridge racers and stuff like that

  • remember this one. Drive perfectly all way through, but one mistake and your last!

  • I still have this game on original cd with original cardboard case it came in, and I loved then and still do! It gave Ridge Racer a run for it's money, except I remember screamer only being available on PC, but that just makes it better in my oppinion!

  • I don't have the cardboard box anymore, otherwise complete, though. Same for Screamer 2 and Screamer Rally

  • i have screamer 4x4.. its the off-road one with land rovers and jeeps. good for an off-road game but not exactly nail-biting speed!!!

  • Had lots of fun with this one some years back..

  • very polished :D SVGA ran like a 3 legged dog on my AMD-K5 133. With 16 MB ram.

  • in the go2x?

  • nice memories :)

  • I've installed the game and dosbox...how do I run it?

  • what's not working?

  • I simplu don't know how to make it work :D

    If i type "screamer.exe" i get nothing...

  • I know it sounds like a stupid answer, but Screamer sometimes starts and sometimes doesn't.... try a few times... otherwise, you might want to start the game with STARTL.EXE or STARTH.EXE (IIRC)

  • "cannot open gen.dat" O_O

  • :(

I never heard of that problem... missing file?

...well, one more thing... did you run setup before running the game?

  • Yes I did! strange thing

  • Same problem here. Running DOSBox on vista.

  • hi i dont know if youve fixed it but I can help if you are still stuck mate.

  • Now this has what newer games are missing. STYLE. Cars that pop up on two wheels just cornering, a relaxed style of music, colorful scenery. Sure CoD 4 is fun and GT5 but they dont have the style that made these games timeless (and this is comming from a 14 year old).

  • @hollerritter THANK YOU! Yet another 14, err, I guess 16 year old now, whatever, that gets it! Graphics aren't everything, by no means! Its the style!!!

  • I played the second screamer. I've never played the 1st one before.

  • Do you remember the soundtrack to Screamer2? Well A while ago I uploaded the soundtrack at 320kbps for a few friends. If you want, I could send you the link if you want it. :)

  • Anno, to play Screamer with fluent frameretes, i needed a p166, to play Screamer 2 i needed a p233mmx, to play screamer rally i needed a pii 450, when will dosbox be that fast??? Does it use multiple cores? :)

  • that video was played on an Athlon XP 2500+, so I think most modern PC's should be able to run these games quite well in dosbox.

  • Virtual PC (Free download from Microsofts website) and a copy of Windows 98 would be your best bet if you wanna play old DOS based games..

  • it looks like gran turismo 2

  • look great

  • Cool, but I did not like MSR. Really, Kudos, what the hell? It would've been a great racing game without it.

  • I love this game..my favorite game from childhood!

  • used to love this like maddddd

  • rofl msr is a cool game

  • Stoopid camera ... i dont eaven know how long the car is

  • Damm that was scary like hell

  • It scared me... didnt see it coming either!

  • Wow. I gave the demo of this game a shot back when it was new but i stuck to NFS1 because I thought Screamer seemed to be way inferior. But after seeing this I'm gonna give it another go in dosbox!

  • Wow, very good graphics for a DOS game!

  • Fantastic.

  • where is the bad ass popup face and scream voice wtf ..

  • that is only in thrill drive games

  • Someone allready posted the Metroplolis thing, oops.

  • I think this song was in Metropolis.

  • why are the camera transitions exactly the same throughout the whole replay :|

  • Do you know, where can download it?

  • does anyone know where I can find the original rock soundtracks to ths game?

  • if you own the original CD rom, you can play it in a regular CD player and hear

  • if you own the original CD rom, you can play it in a regular CD player and hear the original tracks.....I have it somewhere on CD, if you really want the songs and don't have the original CD I can rip it into mp3s and send em to u

  • WELL ITD BE FANTASTIC! THANK YOU! ill pm you soon

  • hey diphatd could u like put on a vid with the music and sountracks and if u could put on lvls thnx cause this game brings back alot of memoeries

  • this was the first and best game I ever played! the sheer joy of my childhood! I WAS CRAZY ABOUT IT FOR SO MANY YEARS!

  • Whoa.. I remember this game! The track brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for putting this up, this is great!

  • Good game!

  • they don't, screamer when its played over 60 ou 70 fps starts to mess the cars up... it's weird, they start to overlean.. if you play screamer in svga in less fps, it doesn't happen ! (in my win98 MMX 233 processor runs fine in SVGA)

but in my P4 it doesnt run o XP, and on dosbox runs REALLY SLOW

  • maybe you comp isnt good

this game looks great for a dos game

  • nice game but i dont think ferraris lean that much lol

  • man, im trying to run on the dosbox too, but is running to slow ! what you did to keep the framerate high under dosbox ??

  • This was the first game I bought for my PC IIRC. Prompted me to upgrade from a 486/66 to a Pentium 66 quick. The music is "Outside In" from MSR under SEGA Jazz Funk.

  • oh thanks dude ive been looking everywhere for the song title!

  • I love(d) screamer!

  • hell yeah I used to play this game back in the day. Hey whats the name of this jazz song and whose playing it, its pretty sick?

  • the song was featured in Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast; the composer is Richard Jacques, he's done a lot of game music, especially for Sega.

  • o sweet thanks a lot man, much appreciated!

  • I loved screamer back in the days

  • good music + video
