  • Look at his shirt!

  • omfg i lol'd

  • I Dare anyone to do this at a church (full mass).

  • keep pressing 7 for weirdest sound ever

  • kurwa

  • is that the same shit thats in duster? but duster gets you high but you have the same voice. is it another gas thats less dens than air.. anyone?

  • damn that's cool :D

  • FWIW: Sulfur hexafluoride was first used for diving by the Navy many years ago instead of, or mixed with, helium. This use was secret for a long time but a few non-military divers use it today. SF6 is even less soluble in water than is helium. Thus, it has no effect on the nervous system. Nitrogen is soluble in water and does have a severe effect on the nervous system called "nitrogen narcosis" not to mention "the bends" when surfacing.

  • I thought breathing heavier than air gases was bad for health.

  • Time to do this at home.

  • You gotta be kidding me =O

  • Absolutely HILARIOUS!!!! I love Mythbusters!!!

  • is sulfur hexafluoride as harmful as helium? :P

  • @TheMindofagenius1 its much more harmful. your body has to work six times harder to process the air. it puts pressure on ur brain lungs and heart. it also makes you red blood cells travel slower (the ones contaminated that is) its just not a good idea. i wouldnt kill you.. but its much worse for you that helium. helium makes it easier to breathe but the excess of oxygen kills brain cells and causes minor respitory problems. if u wanna have some fun stick to helium

  • @ladygagaeckler oh no, i was just asking a scientific question that's all, thanks a lot though there's one more info going in :P thanks again :) :D

  • hahahaha adam's evil twin

  • HAHAHA!!!; this is... HILARIOUS!!!, specially with the voice under the Sulfur Hexafluoride effects...

What the gas density can do; hahaha!...

It would be a PERFECT joke speaking with the "SF6 voice" to somebody... I don't know... maybe... in a stormy dark night and someone who is sleeping, and suddenly, surprise him with a creepy laugh; MWAHAHA!!!...

  • @EsdrasHdzR 900 architects and engineers believe 9/11 was an inside job

  • @ratm3413 no, they believe a real investigation is required.

  • who the fuck is penn Gilette?

  • co to za gaz/?

  • o ja cię pierdolę, chcę spróbować !

  • sounds like old fred

  • omg HE HAS ALPHA RADIATION RADIATING ALL OVER HIS BODY !!!

  • what episode is this?

  • so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • If you hear when he pulls of the ballon at 0:20 it sounds higher than normal. Fake??

  • @MaxBeejax I don't think so. It's simply vocal modulation...

  • hahaha !!

  • if any of you guys dont get adam look at his shirt................... it says it for you. LOL

  • where do you get this in canada lol

  • Holy shit thats great, can I have a bit bottle of it please?

  • First Dale and then an Evil Lord! What's not to love here? XD

  • Gdzie to można kupić? :D

  • Lolololololololololololololol!

  • He should go to a priest. He'd be convinced that Adam was possessed by Satan or something! :O

  • That is just so cool, I didn't think the lower voice thing would actually work.

  • ,,O Kurwa" to pooprostu ,,Wow"

  • Ja pierdolę, jaka debata na temat znaczenia i zastosowania słowa "kurwa". ;] I to po angielsku. Normalnie powinniście na Harvardzie wykładać.

  • zaje-biste xD

  • he's laugh at the end is awesome ;D

  • a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

  • @ Luntri

Listen fuckface, it's the less educated, dumber human beings that think kurwa is used as a comma. You dont know shit about shit, so stfu.

  • Co to kurwa za shit jest? Dawać ten gaz!!!

  • @DebilnyJas Why do Polish use so that word "kurwa" so much ?! That's pretty weird.

  • @aljoshabre it's scientific :)

  • @aljoshabre

Unfortunately in Poland word "kurwa" is widely used instead of comma (among low educated human beings).

That's a bad habit. It's sad I must apologize for my bad mannered countrymen.

  • @Luntri It's funny because on Serbian kurwa has the same meaning, just written "kurva". There is no logic behind it's use, that's why I was questioning. :)

  • @Luntri

Word "kurwa" is use by all polish people its just like F*ck in english, soo dont listen to that pussy

  • @aljoshabre Because it's very versatile word. For example: "O kurwa, to takie śmieszne!" - "O fuck, this is so funny!", "Kurwa, wpierdalaj! - "Get the fuck off!", kurwa - whore :]

  • how can you not want try it at home now

  • THATS SO CREAPY

  • its funny, but it is one of the most dangerous gases for the ozone layer. Please Please don't copy that. Even small amounts have an effect on the environment...

  • @bkubicek the question is though, is it light enough to travel to the ozone layer, I would wager not as flouride is really heavy!

  • @lordmetroid It actually has a global warming potential of 22,800 times higher than CO2, with an atmospheric lifespan of 800-3200 years according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. It's used in magnesium manufacturing and some electrical industrial applications.

  • @kovu159 I never said it did not have that potential. I simply asked if the gas was light enough to reach the spacial ozone in the atmosphere.

  • @lordmetroid In trace amounts, yes. Ozone itself is much heavier than the oxygen/nitrogen atmosphere at ground level, yet sits above the troposphere. As to its effects on the ozone, I'm not sure, but it causes enough problems below the ozone that it is of concern either way.

  • @kovu159

But since it's so heavy and dense, wont it just sink to the ground?

  • Hehe, I think Adam became evil :o *hides*

  • HEAVY IS ADAM

    POOT HEXAFLUORIDE HEAR

  • He sounds like Penn Jilette

  • WYKOP K*RWA!

  • epic

  • This has always been one of my favorite clips from Mythbusters.

  • haahahahah :DDD awesome

  • Isn't Helium supposedly becoming a really rare and non-renewable resource? lol

  • SCIENCE!

  • Oh look, Jehovas witnesses have come a knockin on my door...

  • Thumbs up if you want to try this at home or did.

  • I NEED to try this at home.

  • Where do I get this?!

  • 6 people are not ready for our heavy voiced overlords.

  • AWESOME.

  • sounds like the bad guy from the mask

  • Did anybody notice that he sounds almost exactly like Penn from Penn and Teller?

    xD

  • so that's how those metal bands get their voices to sound that awesome.

  • @sellingmypokecards because you don't understand chemistry. Fluorine can form such strong covalent bonds with elements like sulfur and carbon that saturated fluorine compounds are usually quite inert. This is because fluorine is the most electronegative element in the periodic table: it holds onto it's electrons very tightly.

Compounds that take advantage of this quality are things like teflon and the gasses used by halon fire extinguishers. Sulfur hexafluoride is quite safe.

  • Hi Digg!

  • Thanks Reddit

  • rofllll

  • Why do I get the feeling that breathing in a gas with the word "sulfur" in it is a bad idea?

  • omg wtf bbq

  • OH MY GOD.

    IT'S THE POWERTHIRST VOICE.

Adam!! Do another video and say "Raaaaawberry!"

  • Inhaling Sulfur Hexaflouride it dangerous because your lungs will get full with it, since it is denser than air, and can prevent one from breathing. Standing on ones head can help cure this. Nonetheless, it is dangerous.

  • Except it's actually correct...

  • LOL

  • OH MY GOD THIS IS SO FUNNY.

I would totally try this for a bit since sulpher hexaflouride is completely harmless in small quantities.

  • I love how he said, do not try this at home and everyone's asking where to get this :)

  • He sounds surprisingly similar to Penn Jillette, actually.

  • LOLLL this stuff is awesome, where can i get it?!

  • Adam = Super Mutant

  • Sulfur Hexafluoride....yeah it's inert, but I wouldn't go around breathing the stuff...

  • I need a canister of this stuff

  • he sounds like a devil.

  • its hilarious when he says "somehow"

  • So the deal is, for all the people who will try this at home, this:

Since Helium is less dense, it automaticall escape up through your lungs, hence the rapid restoration of your normal voice frequency.

Sulphur Hexafluoride, being less dense, DOES NOT ESCAPE YOUR LUNGS. The only way to get it out, after ingestion, is to hang upside down, and expel the gas from your lungs with the assistance of gravity. Hooking your legs over an elevated bar, and hanging upside down like a kid would does it well

  • @lealvona Would it be lethal to keep it in for ever?

  • @lealvona

Your theory is flawed, that's not how lungs work. Lungs aren't like a cup that you pour gasses out of, they're like a balloon.

Fill a cup with oil and water. Try to pour out the bottom layer, and it's difficult. That's not how lungs work. Fill a balloon with oil and water, it's very easy to expel both layers, because the balloon collapses, pouring everything out at once until it's empty.

  • @lealvona That's some of the most retarded science I've ever read. Stop spreading this garbage.

  • @lealvona good point.

  • did he died?

  • I just laughed until I cried and coughed and choked a little bit.

  • @missinghorcrux thats definitely what she said

  • He sounds like Penn Gilette!

  • "..if you promise not do do it at home. Okay?" "No..." "Okay!

  • Jesus shit

  • Holy shit, he turned into Penn Jillette!

  • he turned into Jon from delocated.

  • "Kids dont try this at home"

    Righhhtttt ;)

  • 5 people failed science

  • HOLY SHIET LMAOOOOOOO

  • i laughed so hard, i crapped my pants.

  • my dad was sleeping on the couch when i watched this so I was like holding my mouth trying not to laugh out loud when adam's voice went low!

  • Satin spoke to me at 0:29.... o.O

  • @pocaigue2289 Damn you smooth fabric!!

  • HAHAHA I LAUGHED SO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I had no idea that was possible....that is truely the greatest thing I have ever seen!

  • that is sooo fucking awesome!!!! i wanna try it now!

  • woah that was crazy get me some of that stuff.

  • SF5 ftw

  • Holy crap XD Adam you rock XD

  • so this is how death metal vocalists get their voice

  • Thats the coolest thing I've ever seen him do! :D

    ..Other than blowing stuff up.

  • what episode?

  • I WANT TO TRY THIS AT HOME.

  • HAHAHAHAHA! XD

  • I fucking hate these tools.

  • @xfactor093 that made my day

  • Someone needs to give this shit to Justin Bieber.....

  • @xfactor0693 True that!

  • @xfactor0693

Why do faggots have to reference everything to Justin Bieber!?

  • @scotty12347 agreed

  • @scotty12347 wow dude really....go fuck yourself....

  • @xfactor0693

    "xfactor"

Don't really have to say much else do I...

  • I want to know what hapens if you inheal both? 0:23-0:26, I know what you mean, you get all dizy.

  • thats what i immagine the devil to sound like

  • OMG I wanna try inhaling some Sulphur Hexafluoride at least once! Is it dangerous? Well Adam Savage did it once, probably twice depending on how many takes he had to record... and he's still alive right? No lung cancer or shit? Cause I so wanna go to work one day, inhale that and just start scaring the shit outta everyone.... as long as it's not unhealthy. :(

  • That sulfur stuff makes him sound like Penn Jillette...

  • @tmafkap I was just about to leave the exact same comment... Well done!

  • can a person survive breathing helium?

  • @tracemaster100 it feels like you`re inhaing air. you don`t even want to breathe any more (although you should )))

  • How can something be very funny yet very creepy at the same time? lol!

  • Lol Adam's shirt, oh sweet irony

  • its scientific mwhahahahahahaha

  • Great video, I'm spreading my music with animated greetings

  • what if u do both at the same time?

  • If you DO end up breathing some sulphur hexafluoride, the way to get it out is to hang upside-down and breathe. Like water, it's heavier than air and will flow down.

That said, you still shouldn't try it. You can lose consciousness faster than you'd think. Not to mention you probably can't get any sulphur hexafluoride on a whim

  • I love Mythbusters

  • so tempting to try at home!

  • I could sound like an elite

  • makin your voice deeper, seems ALOT more fun than making it higher.lol.

  • "And somehow, I'm still funny"

Yes, you are, Adam, yes, you are.

  • HAHAHAAHHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • Awesome one, Adam!

  • Cool Adam!!

  • cool vid keep it up

  • For those who are actually interested, the reason why Adam said you shouldn't do this [and you really shouldn't] is because of the following:

Sulfur Hexafluoride [and really any other appreciably dense gas] is so much heavier than air that you cannot exhale it. It will collect in your lungs, and if you inhale too much of it, it can poison you. You literally have to invert yourself and let it drain out.

  • it wont poison you, you just dont have oxygen in your lungs and you will choke because you cant get it out.

  • I don't remember ever laughing so hard in my life (not counting times I was high of course)

I need to get some sulphur hexafluoride!

  • @tiptep

hey you promised adam not to do it at home. you can do it in a park though

  • i wonder where the fuck i can get Sulfur Hexaflouride

  • When he breathes in Helium, he sounds like Wakko from Animaniacs.

  • @hiei2k7

and when he breathes sulfur... that, he sounds like penn from penn and teller

  • I swear to god he sounds like the Torchbearer from Demigod when he inhales the sulfer.

  • lololololol

  • Wow, cool. One thing though, I'm pretty sure sound travels slower in a lighter medium (helium) because the speed of sound at sea level is higher than it is at high altitude where the air is thinner. And the speed of sound in liquid, which is MUCH denser, is WAY faster.

So the high voice must be due to something else that relates density to pitch. Not sure what though. i could be wrong.

  • @warren52nz you had every last bit of that backwards. sound travels faster in low density because, well, its less dense. and sound in liquid is almost stopped which is why you cant talk and be understood while underwater. only certain soundwaves like clicks and ultra high-pitch can travel fast enough to be of any use

  • "@warren52nz you had every last bit of that backwards. sound travels faster in low density"

    LOL. From Wikipedia:

"Sound travels faster in liquids and non-porous solids (5,120 m/s in iron) than it does in air, traveling about 4.3 times faster in water (1,484 m/s) than in air at 20 degrees Celsius."

Maybe you should pick on someone who DOESN'T have a degree in Physics....

  • @warren52nz im going to end this argument now and just recede, but on a side note, dont use an open source of information to prove or disprove something, it tends to be slightly less than credible

  • OK, well if you look at my original comment, I was more asking how it works with a couple of thoughts rather than trying to prove something. I'm still not sure why a lighter gas increases voice pitch.

It was just a passing comment, I'm not all that interested in the answer but I guess it could be Googled in a minute or so.

    Cheers.

  • We need more people like this to get the youth of this country interested in something other than "B*%$hes and Hoes." Remember kids, those people you call nerds today will be the ones making all the money tomorrow.

  • @ondfritz2 Because the only country that watches Myth busters is America, 'dad'.

  • @ondfritz2 They can also create large explosions using everyday materials. And/or find the non-everyday materials necessary to make some rather more interesting explosions.

  • @ondfritz2 it seems like you get bullied a lot. Dont worry, it gets better LOL

  • @ondfritz2 it's also important to know, that girls LOVE money!

  • Ther is no adam only XUL!
