• how much do the powerball and fireball cost?

  • OoOoOoo that the kinda tome i been looking for.

  • Hey man! Do you have a Footswitch? My question is, can you change from Clean Channel to Lead channel without a footswitch, by a button on the amp?

  • @DrEviscerator666

Yes you can. There are 2 Buttons, 1 Button for Clean and Crunch and the other is for the Lo and the hi gain section :)

  • @Metalhoch99 ,Thanks Man! My Powerball is shipping this Week Finally! Maybe on Monday or Tuesday ill receive it!

  • @DrEviscerator666

It's a very nice amp! I will get it maybe in a few months ;)

  • @Metalhoch99 ,I'm also Getting a Marshall MC212 Cab! Perfect Size for My Use! Cheers Mate

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! What a gay cab, lol. Yeah I think I'll stick with my duel recto cab

  • CORRECTION! ENGL sound like ass through stock marshall cabs. i tried my powerball on my marshall cab and it sounds like crap. im gonna put some vintage 30s in that thing so i can use it still instead of letting it sit and rot

  • everything sounds like ass thru stock Marshall cabs

  • very true

  • The shitest tone from high end amp ever heard.

  • this amp is actually amazing. its just dialed in horribly plus its at a VERY low volume which makes the tone not as amazing as it could be

  • I didn't say this amp sucks, coz i know that ENGL sounds very good. What's the point of posting such videos. Honestly - my MT-2 with Laney HCM30R sounded the same.

  • its a crappy mashal mmg cap.

  • I dont know why it sounds so bad here. I have a powerball and it sounds beautiful. Using an Ibanez Rg1077xl and nothing other than the original amp sounds so.. :S

  • to the author, would love to know what you had loaded in your marshall 4x12 bro. vintage 30? 60?

  • anyone here thats commenting will probably never ever need more than 30 watts of tube power... just PA it and you'll be fine... volume is barely ever and issue when you have PA

  • All my vids use Powerball, check em out!!

  • Totally different animals. Both share EQ across the board....the Blackmore has 4 modes so it has more choices.

The Blackmore is based on the Savage while the Fireball is based on the Powerball. I have a Powerball and a Blackmore. I gravitate to the powerball more than the Blackmore.

  • i cant wait for mine, nice tone there!

  • Hey can anyone answer me on this\

a 60 watt tube amp meaning this amp right here its fucking loud right?

louder then a 120 solid state amp?

since i have heard tube is so much louder.

and aswell alot of vids i watch theres people playing the fireball and it sounds brutal as hell compared to people playing powerballs. just a camera problem on all of them and volume or is the firball just have more balls?

  • 60w tube = 180w ss

  • no, a watt is a watt.

Tubes transfer more midrange on a smoother curve which the human ear picks up as volume.

Solid state amps produce a square wave form which our wars her as distortion rather than volume.

  • this ones 100watt tube not 60

they both have tonnes of balls

you cant judge an amp played this quietly

my powerball is fucking rediculous, honestly. the question is more like "how much power can i handle" and 100watts is fuckin terrifying

  • tes

  • Too many people just suck at tone, lawl. The powerball is a much more modern sounding head, where as the Fireball is more brit metal esque

  • My advice? Wait for the Fireball 100.

  • sounds just like fuckin 6 feet under

  • its called the marshall 1936 2x12. no the marshall 1960 A lead is an awesome cab. i have a marshall 1960 vintage A and it blows cabs to bits.

  • no one is taking into account the room may be small, or their maybe something blocking the cabinet, which could take away the high frequencies..

  • my friend had that cab. and it was absolutely horrible. he got rid of it quick

  • that particular marshall cab is horrible. it got horrible ratings. it hides so many tones. ive played a powerball on my marshall 1960 vintage A cab and it sounded fuckin bitching. this marshall cab is a disgrace to marshall.

  • Which one is a disgrace to marshall? 1960 A Lead cab?

  • az erősítő kibaszott jól szól, csak meg kéne tanulni gitározni is előbb...

    lol..

  • ROFL LRN2PLAY

  • You could use almost any cab you fools , hughs, randall, vox & this amp should sound great.

  • Any cab? You're very wrong. All cabs will have different sound qualities. For ENGL Orange cabs seem the best to my ears.

  • you forgot bogner uberkab :)

  • That's right, but if you can afford it, a behringer should be the box of your choice.

  • sounds horrible. This amp can sound so much better.

  • cab sounds atrocious, a better one will let that head sing.

  • I think this cab is pretty good (blasting sounds from my 5150 II that is). It has 2 V30's in it, and they have good low-ends for a 2x12.

  • You won't do any damage as long as the impedance mismatch between amp and cab is no greater than 100% (i.e. running 8 ohms into a 4 ohm cab is ok, but running 16 ohms into a 4 ohm cab will break stuff).

But beyond prolonging or shortening the tube life in your amp, there's not a very significant reason to mismatch.

  • Actually, an impedance mismatch should be ok as long as the cabinet has the higher impedance.

If the amp has a higher impedance than the cabinet, you might end up blowing the output transformer.

It is recommended that you don't mismatch at all, but a 100% mismatch, with the cab having the higher impedance, should be fine. 200% might be as well, but I wouldn't count on it working properly for long periods of time.

  • The 200% percentage was of course a little off, what I meant was the cabinet having four times the impedance, or 400%. =p

  • What is the best cabinet for this head?

i was thinking about an Orange?

btw does the amp impedience mean anything?

i mean is it better to run and amp at 8ohmx2 or 16ohmx1....or doesnt it matter?

  • There is no 'best' cab. It depends on the sounds you're trying to get. If you're going to shell out a grand for a cab anyway (Oranges are 999 bucks) you might as well get a Tone Tubby ceramic 4x12, as they'll come loaded with much tighter speakers than the V30s standard in the Oranges.

As far as impedance goes, it's just a matter of how the cabinet is wired. If your cab is wired in series, it's likely at 16 ohms. Series/parallel: 8. Parallel: 4.

  • look as long as the cab has celestion v30's in it, they all sound the same.

  • no they dont!!!...-.-

  • haha yea they do, most use the same wood in their cabs too, so to say that is just a little wrong.

  • engl cabinet ofcourse 4x12

  • but they are expensive

and an orange cab with the same speakers is half the price

  • you try Engl and you will se it... Big difference!!!

  • i actually dont thing this souds so bad....Its funny because even sounding like this the ENGL has more gain and clarity tham most of the popular amps out there. (Recto,6505..etc)

  • Muddy cab as hell

  • your sound is so gut ... i can stand and listen it all the night !!

  • Comment removed

  • @shinobi911 oh it is anything but this.

  • i love how for the first few seconds you can see his hand picking the strings in the reflection of the amp. haha u should have stayed there.

  • Oh man!!!!!! THaT sOunds like SHit doood! That cabinet is not voiced for that beast.

  • put a descent cab into that powerball!

  • that sounds so stiff and sterile its scary.

  • bad picking ... weak sound

    and too much gain

  • Why don't you post a vid, I want to see your skills and sound :)

  • when did i say anything about slipknot?

  • i like mah 6505+ the best :]

  • Agreed. I'm getting a 5150 212 combo on Tuesday, and I think they are the best out there. But ENGLs are really, really good too.

  • mesa can suck my balls

  • Can do any style

  • okay....the only mesa that may beat this is like a mark IV. the dual and triple rec. sound like garbage. i don't know why so many people like them so much.

  • Because they have so much flexibility.Capable of getting dozens of sounds accurately. The engl hase so many knobs yet all is hear is the same sound.I have a quad preamp into a 295 simulclass with the 6l6 tubes. Sometimes I switch it out for the ell34 or the mullards. They amps is twice as dynamic (no electrolytics) and big NASA grade capacitors) so the sound is not pinched. The dual stage input (seperate gain stages for volume and preamp level settings for each channel.

  • Don't dis on Engl.

mesas aren't as great as everyone raves about, they are way to loose and spongy.

  • I agree completely. The Rectifiers are really pretty bad. The Cobras, Dragons and Mark IVs on the other hand, are really good.

  • not well, though.

  • ican get ANY sounds with my quad pre into 295 simulclass all from a whisper to the point of sterylization. only 2000 were made and I will not reliquish mine. Enjoy what you have

  • it is worth it

  • about $2000 USD for the head.

  • its.... its so BIG :O

  • The 4x12" Cobra Box is easily able to play confidently the different, excellent valve sounds of the Cobra Top. The Celestion Vintage 25 "Greenback" speakers, the 17mm thick poplar wood and the excellent processing make it one of the best guitar boxes on the market.-

Another thing is with framus, i called them to ask about the cab: "Ah! would you like to talk with the designer?" - and i was straight thru to the guy who created it

  • well supershaun215, different woods offer different resonances and rigidity which all effects the cabs reponse, the framus cabs offer a slightly more present sound, a bit brighter & tight (plus that groovy & very 'metal' steel front grill (also as a bonus the grill cannot be clawed to shreds by pet cats - mine have clawed and shredded my marshall cab grill, lol).

They are not very dear when compared to a new marshall 4x12 are they? (i got my secondhand/mint).

  • Also depends on mic selection and placement. Generally ill use a 57 about an inch from the grille and a royer about 2 feet away. Also if the cab has an open back ill put another mic there and flip the phase. Lots of ways to skin a cat

  • have you checked framus 4x12 cabs, they use poplar wood i think which gives more fast response time.

  • more fast? your funny..lol

  • That amp i fucking expencive

  • what the engl? noo like 1200 bones for the head, then u go out and ghet urself a decent cab with decent speakers and ur fucking set!!..lol

  • no wait im sry thats the powerball not the fireball..lol (get the fireball)

  • yeah i know, ib the states, but i live in norway ...

  • ic, yet again i display ignorance..lol

  • Nice sound! Is the this shit for A and B tunings?

  • haha, why on earth did you a negative rating for your comment? :P

  • me? nån idiot vare iaf..

  • how much does it cost for a new one ?

  • just under 2 grand

  • Woah, this is actually a lot better than I expected. I'm going to try this out this week. :)

  • Actually he`s using Engl Savage.

  • Engls dont just kick one ass, but many asses. that appears to be a marshall mg cab which is very sad. My friend plays a Mesa head through an MG cab and I explain to him that he can no longer be my friend. That's like buying a Ferrari to spend your entire life in a 25mph zone.

  • Dude I am thinking of getting an ENGL Powerball, but I dunno which cab. Which do you recommened

  • Marshalls make good cabs, but you have to get the high end hand wired ones. Vintage cabs are usually the best for marshalls. However, I find marshalls to be highly overated as their quality has dropped off over the past few years. I still think Mesa cabs are the most efficient and versitile that I have found as of yet.

  • What do u reckon, the 4x12 Boogie Rectifier maybe

  • Look at Avatar and Invader cabs.

  • MEsa i find have a little too much low end to em i like em but thats my criticism

  • i usually prefer the low end. Plus that's something you can EQ out. As the saying goes, It's always better to have too much than too little.

  • Meas has the best sounds as in plural Can truly get any sound not like turning down a marshall, playing quietly and calling it clean. The problem is that you cant complain about Marshalls quality control cause there isnt any. Since then late 70's they throw any resistor capacitor and parts that happen to be around. My best friend has a generic stock 1985 jcm that sounds amazing. He tracked down another 1985 jcm800 and its was noisier thinner and no dynamics Told him to keep the one he had

  • Orange 2x12

    Recto 2x12

    VHT Fatbottom 2x12 A***

    Engl 2x12 w/sealed back A****

  • COME OUT, COME OUT,WHERE EVER U R!

  • dont listen to the guy who said play more riffing. thats almost insulting! you'll end up like slayer, not writing songs, but writing riffs strung together! effing riffers eh?

nice amp btw! that sounds fucking incredible!

  • isn't a song a bunch of riffs strung together?

jesus what's wrong with some people...

  • no, you dont get it, he means SHIT riffs.

mad playing and tone btw dude. love it.

  • Why are you playing that Awesome head through that POS Cabinet?

  • Agreed, if you don't want an ENGL cabinet at least go for a Mesa or Krank or even Orange cabinet (Although I don't think that last one will look nice with the engl) but not Marshall, overrated brand thats what it is

  • Wow, sounds good. You wouldn't mind doing a video with a little more riffing (maybe some stuff in the upper register), would you?

  • Thanks for the demo. This is defintiely a killer metal map.

  • One thing about youtube, you're never at a loss for stupid, dumbass, know-nothing comments. Well played Voxx321, you're dumb as hell and need an ear transplant.

  • Yeah I totally agree with Voxx321, I mean I use one of those little 5 inch tall marshall stacks with the 2 inch speaker and it blows this crap away. Even a Diezel can't step. I just mic it up at shows and oh wow its just great! Screw engl

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • gain is not interesting. interesting is sound. i've got a randall g3, that thing has tons of gain but a shitty sound. engl has probably less gain but more tone and sound. gain alone sucks.

  • you are a fucking IDIOT

  • How does this amp do classic rock sounds or blues? I need an amp who is capable of doing blues, rock and heavy metal, not just metal.

  • Try the Engl Blackmore signature Head.

  • i don't understand why a powerball would be nicer or less good than a revolution ... just different ...

these two amps rip !! i think i'll go for ENGL

  • HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • krank is not good, the reason people "like" them is because they pay artists to say they use them ;)

  • this probably one of those heads that has to be played threw a vintage 30 or g12t75 cab to sound decent

  • This is a really versatile head, it can sound excellent through many speakers. It does indeed own through both vintage 30's and G12T75's.

  • nice, im surprised actually, ive been using a peavey and i love that tone, but this has a bit more meat to it, the only thing is that is seems like the pinched harmonics dnt stick out too far, (not insulting your playing,im talkin about the tone lol) how far are the highs turned up on ur settings if you dnt mind me askin? cause if i looked into wone of these id boost the highs if possible

    thanks :) nice vid btw

  • anybody know if its the amps timbre that promotes the pinch harmonics resonance...? obviously the player is skilled but they sound soooo goooood through this amp!

  • whats your settings, on the lead

  • im picking up a new engl stack in a couple of days! ritchie blackmore sig series 100W head and 4x12" cap running the vintage 30 speakers :D

  • how about a good song lol

  • i got the powerball thru a peavey XXX cab. fuckin rocks.

  • Did you test the engl boxes too?

I tested it on Marshall too - what box do you use?

  • I have the ENGL Savage to ;) ENGL f'in rocks your socks off!!

  • Hm i dunno. In the video it looks like a Marshall cab. If you meant mine, I've got an Engl 4x12 standart cab.(sounds awsome ;)

  • it aint a mashall cab. usually marshall logos are at the middle of the amp.

  • the marshall 1922 1x12 cabs have the logo at the top.

  • oh, sry, my bad, didt know tht lol

  • unless its a 2x12.

  • I've got the Engl Savage 120. Engl Rocks!!! Nice test. You should really try some shreds ;)

  • a killer tone !! i want that amp

  • Play something else too than just that pinch harmonic riffing.

  • wish you put some more brutal stuff on there, but still nice

  • cool test! I was thinking about getting a Powerball myself, and after your video, Im pretty sure on it! thx

  • i've got the Special Edition I , not the new expensive one but the one before!

  • SE's are the same lol I have the E 760 just different tubing

  • Hi MetalHeadXi158 i mean the engl savage special edition :)

  • I've got an Engl too, a Ritchie Blackmore signature :D

    It's also good!

  • You do free advertising for Engl... pretty cool :)

  • can you play some solos?

  • There you can find some lead tones on the PowerBall.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMgmVosDpRQ&search=roo

  • Thanks for the test...
