  • There hasn't been this much collective joy in America in decades. It was magical.

  • RON PAUL 2012!! Freedom isn't easy to achieve but someone has to do it, enough with the financial slavery and tyranny!! End the Federal Reserve system! -TX

  • And the USA went downhill from there!

  • @dover357 It's been going downhill since the turn of the new millennium. However, it has REALLY PLUNGED since the day he got elected!

  • I remember how in Columbia Heights it was the same thing! AH I wish I had my camera

  • i love how the congo drums are going it seems so much fun!

  • Wow one year later- Hows that working out for ya?

  • did they play these clips on fox news? If they did, FOX news must have called it. Obama wins, people riot.

  • The reason people were so excited about his win was because A] 1st Black Prez

    B] He's extremely likable

C] He could bring a change to the

    country economically and otherwise.

  • This is the best election street party i've seen so far; DC knows how to party!

  • I don't think of Obama as a savior at all. I do support him, and he did bring our country to a huge historical milestone, and he wants to make positive change, but Presidents are still just human beings. It would be unfair to expect him to be a miracle worker. He's a man.

  • @clairesayshi

It's like electing Michael Jordan in the NBA draft in 84 Again, but already knowing his greatness.

  • huge historical milestone? Haha, you mean a black person becoming a US president is something so special.

And besides, Obama said he respects Bush, no wonder he never prosecuted any of Bush members.

The funniest part is not Obama himself, but the people who actually support this moron.

  • Well you know he did promise too much on the campaign which is good- because than he can fall flat on his face and Mitt Romney can be elected. Obama's change- high unemployment, inflation, excessive government spending, backroom deals and bribery- yea that's Obama's change arlright!

  • and whats makes you so smart MOE. if you can figure out a way to get out of the hood then you can call other people dumb. but as long as your stuck there than your the dumb one cause the hood is full of ignorance. People in the hood know less than everyone else otherwise they wouldn't be there

  • Yeah, are for the aliens who will come down to this planet and try to figure out/who destroyed our world.

  • this clip should be saved for u.s. historians

  • Get a life,you racist prick.

  • Its gonna take longer than that for this crowd to die down. it may go on for a lifetime. Mentally speaking. I'm a brother, and I've never seen so many happy people in my life.Ya know? Maybe thats what the American People's goal was happiness. Now they've got it. Don't worry be happy.

    I'd felt the same way if John Kerry or Hillary won;

  • Yea dude I think might die down in like two weeks... SIKE NEVER !

  • this is sooo cool! i wish i could have been there! i love crowds & love to celebrate! it would have been sooo much fun!

  • Sarah Palin's future is uncertain now. But if she gives a sigificant boost to Republican Congressional candidates in 2010, it will her clout going into the 2012 Presidential primaries.

  • All you so-called Patriots, get off ur asses & help make this country better. It's not 'one man's' job, its everybody's. Quit ur whining. You're just pissed that your fantasy of what you thought you were in the scheme of things nobody agrees. There's two types of people in this country one is a small group of hate mongering racists and war junkies. The other comprises the American spirit. Real "Zombies" are still asleep. This country woke up. We have spoken. Yes we did!

  • @anbrne I keep saying the same thing. Out of the same frustration. I guess you, the president and myself are the only real pragmatist... As it pertains to governing. iDEAOLOGically DRIVEN but concious, (fully) of the reality of a political system, (indeed a constitution) that encourages give and take, (compromise). You dont think the south surrendered everything after such discord... Do you?

  • @PublishingWRites Once this is internally noted by we, The People, the more things we'll be able to accomplish.

There is NO MAGIC BULLET to any of these problems. If there were we'd have done it/ sold it/ mass produced it.

    Perfection is an illusion.

Obama has recognized and excepts the reality of what he must do... As a leader.

    The passing of an inheritance.

  • There is nothing like the Tribel Music Beat...Obama USA!

  • awesome way to explain it, how long ya reckin'till it dies down?

  • Lets see so far he bombed Pakistan a few days after he took office. And brought our national det up 1.4 trillion in one month alone. WOW thats some person you guys voted for haha. Whats next youth core, oh wait hes making that haha. Um how about the draft, oh yeh his aids think its a good idea. North american union? Hes regained talks to make that happen.

You guys wanted change yet its nothing but the same!

  • Clinton left office leaving a budget surplus. Bush left office leaving a massive budget deficit and an already massive national debt. Obama is in his first stages to fixing the economy. Have some hope. Everybody loves Obama, except for the right-wing racist facists.

  • Obama thinks 'fixing' the economy is borrowing more from China and stealing from our grand children- Obama has bankrupted us more than Bush. It's time for change. Romney 2012!

  • Who will you Bush haters have to hate after Obama takes over?

  • Bush (present) Sarah Palin (future)

  • HATERS, PLEASE... Once would say that the white presidents only won because thats all who VOTED..

but who cares about your opinion or mines...

OBAMA is still the PRESIDENT and now "THE MAN" respect that!

  • I see JimmyFormerMarine, now known as JimmyCurrentCocksucker, is still making his rounds.

  • LOL good one

  • thats all Busch's fault! so dont blame Obama!

  • Yay McBama won. Now we can all wish our nation leader the best while we the people continue to pay for their gread. If you think McBama will make change your right. However its not the change you want. Its the change the people who own you want for themselves. Good luck in the year to come. Once the shit hits the fan youll be saying the same thing about McBama as 90% of americans where about Bush near the end of his election.

  • No we won't! instead of not believing in a entire changed country everyone needs to pray for Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will change this country!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Pffft! What the fu*k are you smokin'?!?

  • Thank god he won, I wouldn't be able to bare it if he lost.

  • if i were Bush, i would ve left the whitehouse that night..lol

  • The whole world celebrates!...

These millions of people seem to

genuinely love a man they've never

    met personally...

and i'm 1 of them! However, i think

it's more his message and what he

represents and not just the man

    himself that people love!

  • Couldn't agree more!

  • its not about the man himself.

its about policies and better life (( change )) .. republicans just killed it!

  • JOY to the World! GOD BLESS PRESIDENT OBAMA!

  • This was SUCH A GREAT NIGHT!!! And I love my city even more because of it.

  • Man the moment that they announced that there was going to be a black president the cat was let out the bag. Obama is poised and ready to prove himself one of the trendsetting presidents of our time as well. Every bit as popular as Kennedy and possible maybe more. Black america is free finally as I heard someone say. This is a crazy scene right outside the white house. You know what Bush is thinking hearing this. "Man I will never get a job in politics again. My dad is going to be so mad at me".

  • The happiest night of my life. Thanks for getiing it on film. I forgot my camera!

  • ok...

    thid made me cry again...

    all weeklong TEARS OS JOY

  • ha That's great:D

Love the cars (especially standing on top of them!)

  • Im was born and raised in DC but now i live in New Mexico I flew back home to be apart of the celebration and I was at the Dukems (the ethopian place) where everyone was dancing. No matter where you came from I'm so glad you were there to celebrate with us that night. We appreciated your vote for Obama and your contribution to our great city!

    DC Rocks..

  • There were probably more people from New Mexico on the DC streets that night than there were people actually from DC.

  • Living in a city does not make you a local.

You must be some know-it-all generation y 20 something.

Not even old enough to remember when Ronald Reagan was in office.

I could go over to San Diego and live there for 10 years and that still would not make me a local.

Most of the people in this video have lived in DC for less than 5.

  • @BulletsBasketballDC

You can have YOUR city. Do with it what you will.

In the mean time I'll enjoy OUR city.

  • Go back to midwest.

You probably came to DC because back home over there in the midwest, you had NOTHING.

  • Why would someone move to D.C., that place sucks to live at unless you're a an official.

  • All of these out of towners from the midwest move to DC so that they can brag to their friends back home in the midwest about living in DC.

They try to become more urban but most of them fail miserably at it.

City streets are more exciting than wheat fields I guess.

  • I guess so, but once you've lived in Chicago, going to D.C. is only nice for the sites. Living there isn't my thing, nor would I brag about it.

  • Nobody is bragging.

    Are you really from Chicago?

Or are you from the suburbs of Chicago?

    Be honest now.

  • I am from the city of Chicago. Not downtown, but about ten mins. away.

  • I'm from DC originally. This was a really special moment our city shared. Sorry you missed it.

  • If you consider dancing in the middle of a city street with a bunch of out of state transplants a "special moment" well then I must say I have to disagree with you.

  • that's SO FREAKING AWESOME!!!

  • thought I was done crying! Nope! OBAMA!

  • U.S.A OBAMA U.S.A OBAMA U.S.A OBAMA

  • i was there

  • how was it to be there?

  • Election Night in DC 2008 - ObamaRama Celebration

  • Awesome! I live in Brooklyn but was visiting U Street two weeks ago, so this really hits "home" for me.

  • well done america.

  • Good edited video of the night = title

Election Night in DC - November 4th, 2008

  • Wednesday and I still tear up~ yea OBAMA! I am ecstatic- Yes we can- and now we WILL!

  • I love America.

  • I call it how I see it.

Some people go out of their way to be down.

  • @BulletsBasketballDC

Such a petty, arrogant, and worthless argument.

  • Just like a sports championship celebration, there are always going to be bandwagon jumpers. Presidential election celebrations are no different.

  • Looks like it was a CRAZY night all over US, man I wish I was there now

  • Go Banana Go Go Banana Go Go banana Go go Banana Go!

    So awesome!

  • This is the first raw vid I've seen of the crowds last night- I wish I could've been there!! I'm getting emotional just watching!! I'm SO proud and SO happy at how inspirational this election has turned out! To a happy and prosperous future for America!!

  • @Bartonic

    Such beautiful words. I agree.

  • What street was this?

  • U Street from 11th to 14th Street (it's in the description)

  • I'm from DC and want to know where in DC was this shot

  • On U Street between 11th and 14th

  • Awesome video! I wish I could have celebrated but I was at home with a terrible cold. I still voted though, as soon as the polls opened!

  • "bulletsbasketball" needs to shut up! this is somethin u usually dont see in the district!...its lovely! all classes & races. unity love and fun! listen to everyone sayin "si se puede!" in spanish! this dummy doesnt know that cities are combined with folks from other countries, states, and folk raised in it! if he watched the news he woulda knew most major cites were the same way! chicago nyc and dc went bananas! i wish dc was always this way! broken barriers! dude should thing b4 he type!

  • omg i was tots there last nite <3

    OBAMA

  • They might be living in DC but that does not make them from here. They are probably from some boring small town in the midwest. So that is the main reason why they feel the need to act like that on a public city street.

  • Washington is a District for a reason, so that no State can lay claim to it. Thats my city as much as its yours!

    Greetings from San Diego California

    YES WE DID!

    Congrats to President Obama!

    Congrats to the PEOPLE!

  • hater.

  • i had a great time last night. I was so happy to see us all unite. Yes we did!

  • It was amazing being part of that magical night... the sense of joy and solidarity and love we felt in that crowd. This is the knowledge that the promise of America is still alive. I hope that this spirit of goodwill lives on and that we are able to forge a better country from it. Great to see y'all out there!

  • Thanks so much for posting this!!

  • beeeeeeeeeep beeep.. beeping and whooping.. thats all i can hear..GO BARACK!

  • This is awesome I have hope again America has chosen the right president.

  • 90% of those people are NOT from Washington DC.

  • These people are definitely DC folks.

  • how do you know where these people are from?

  • @BulletsBasketballDC: quot "90% of those people are NOT from Washington DC."

Who gives a shit if there was tourists partying with locals. Just because you where born and raised there that does not make it your or any other locals city alone. That is the Capitol of The United States Of America, the city itself is a symbol of everything this country stands for and as such that city belongs to every American no mater where they live or are from! How dare you try and claim other wise!

  • Yeah right.

Go over to SIMPLE CITY and say that shit and see what happens.

  • I will say that to the face of anyone from anywhere and I will say it with PRIDE!

  • Oh and by the looks of the locals in this video I think a majority of the locals would agree with me

  • @Wisdomwalker

As a proud resident of Washington, D.C, everyone is welcome. It was an honor to have such a diverse crowd celebrating this historic moment. Come any time!

  • Australia says thankyou!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I left Southeast area where gunshots ranged out, headed to U street and it was a see of people and cars and organized, constructive mayhem! Made my way down 14th it was crazy, the white house had at least 1,000 out front going bezerk.

  • omg, this is amazing, it was truly an historic moment and im glad i got to be a part of it, obama is president baby, woooo!

  • I love this!! I cried watching people celebrate and cheer together, it's so amazing!

  • Congratulations America!!!!

    Yes you can!

    Thank you from Bulgaria!

  • They were really celebrating. It is a glorious time. I thank God that I have lived to see this historic moment.

  • it's not possible to convey the energy that was washed over us all. i smoked a bowl with some white haired republican dude in the middle of thomas circle as we made our way to the white house. it's a new morning, and the weather has changed.

  • Its a good feeling going through this..especially after a Redskins loss. Anyway, is it just me or do all of these celebrations all over the country remind you of the end of Return of the Jedi when the empire finally was defeated and you see all the people rejoicing.

  • Thank you Thank you Thank you from Germany!

  • I just moved from DC in Aug. My girlfriends called me yelling and drunk from U Street. looks like it was SO much fun...thanks for posting!!!!!!!

  • I love your video. Completely made me cry at 3:12 when the street crossers cheered and came together! what a fantastic day for us!!!

  • OMG I was there and thoroughly enjoyed myself. What a night!

  • I feels like finally what the american people want, they get. We got cheated the last election with Bush. Our country could not have done another 4 years with the same crap. YAY OBAMA!!!!

  • That one is the president elect of the united state of america yes we did OBAMA

  • Best night ever. I'm so glad I was here, on U Street for this. It was just beautiful. I'm still so overwhelmed with emotion.

  • What a night of love and joy and unity on the streets of DC!!! 14th and U was the epicenter of the '68 riots. Last night, that dark memory was obliterated by hope, unity, and peace. Don't forget that feeling people. There is work now much work to be done.

  • i like obama

  • wow...first time in my life im proud to be an american

  • me too! i want to run around screaming in red white and blue! couldn't have picked a better place to be celebrating than u street. we shall overcome the darkness of our past and uphold the unfulfilled legacy of our forefathers, we are on our way!

  • had to drive to dc last night to be a part of it and I am so glad we did. Last night brought out the best in all of us. I will always remember the love in DC last night and pray that we can continue on like that.

  • Wish I was there mayne!!

Congrats all the way from Holland!!! The world celebrates with you!

  • I was there on U Street and then down to the White House! Got home at 3:40 a.m. and the party continued. I've got to tell ya, I've never seen anything like it, never been hugged so many times, never done so many high fives! If this is any indication of the young people in this country, we are in good shape. thanks America - it's been a long road. Now, let's get to work and make some real changes!

  • Best night of my life!!! In DC we know how to celebrate!! Obama 08, yes we DID!!!

  • this is so incredible. GOD BLESS AMERICA

  • Man it was quiet on my side of town! A couple of horns honking, but that's it!

  • amazing!!!
