  • yum

  • I'd rather be a fuller figured woman who eats healthy and vegan than a "normal" person who eats at mcdonalds every day and has arteries so full of cholesterol that they will get heart attacks all the time. This lady is much healthier on the inside than most people now days. Don't judge people just because you think it's fun or you have nothing better to do with your time :/

  • OMG - Joni - this so good!! The fakin bakin - my omnivore teens couldn't keep their hands out of it. Thank you so much for this recipe. Namaste!

  • What bacon do you use?

  • I don't mean to make a song and dance about this video..and also I've got nothing against vegans, but my point is,why if you are a vegan and obviously do not want to eat any egg and pork for ethical reasons want to replicate a dish that have the imitation of eggs and bacon????.....it's a bit of an incongruence for me...but of course I'm a meat eater as I believe we are on top of the food chain and in that respect allowed to eat meat...just sharing an opinion here and hope have not offended anyone

  • @ignazio76 Do you believe it's morally correct to hurt animals for pleasure? You are not eating animal products because you need to (and certainly not because of the "food chain"), but because they taste good. Is this a good reason to hurt non human animals? Including cats and dogs?

We are not replicating the taste of "meat", but the taste of a prepared, spiced and otherwise flavoured meal; have a bite of raw meat or uncooked eggs and you'll see my point.

  • @ignazio76 As a side-note, during war people have been fed human meat that was passed as pork, and it tasted like it; that, dear, is fucked up: that we enjoy the taste of something that tastes just like our own flesh. Non human animals are sentient, just like us, they want to live, so isn't it logical that if we can be vegan, we must be vegan? Also, humans are biologically herbivores- google "The Comparative Anatomy of Eating" for proof of that. It's compelling evidence.

  • @ignazio76 (We could say that people who prepare meat/eggs are actually trying to imitate the taste of prepared tofu. Nobody would want to eat a rotting cadaver- does roadkill make you salivate?)

  • yeah you know she says she's a vegan but she sneaks out every night to eat triple cheesburgers at wendy's

  • @mwells219 Eh, that could have to do with a number of things. Maybe her lifestyle is sedentary and makes up for her food. Maybe she eats lots of soy (estrogen) and nuts (fat). Maybe she has that thyroid problem that you may have heard about a bit too often, but might be the truth in the case of a vegan.

I doubt our cook has the problem I am about to point out, but some uneducated vegetarians eat too many carbs because they crave sugar to deal with their protein/iron deficiency. It's fattening.

  • @Kiddalee Protein deficiency is extremely rare... virtually absent from "modern societies".

  • @seymourLlama Protein deficiency is rare, and so are people who try to be vegan without educating themselves about it; they tend to exist in a limited age group, making them as rare as protein deficiency.

  • @mwells219 You must be one ignorant idiot.

  • It makes me so angry that pretty much all these videos get good responses but the minute an overweight person is cooking, the "fat prejudice" starts in. People need to shut up and get over it. Why do you even care if she's overweight? It's HER choice and HER life. If you were truly happy with yourselves, you wouldn't feel the need to criticize or put down others. Maybe you should put that energy into working on your own attitudes.

  • ummmmmmm, not to be mean, but if your vegan why are you obviously morbidly obese?

  • @Nordie15 hahaha, i thought the exact same thing. this woman does not look healthy. maybe she has ate too many burgers...

  • @Nordie15 you're clearly trying to be mean, and saying "not to be mean" doesn't make up for it. She may be plump, but she's not morbidly obese. And you can get plump with any kind of diet. Most vegans don't just nibble on carrots. If I didn't have genetics that made me slender, the vegan sugary treats, pasta, bread, olive oil, fake cheese, etc. would make me just as plump. But at least we're not murdering for our indulgences, right?

  • these are so good and filling! i made several small ones and served them on skillet fried potato slices, with tomato slices on top. they're not exactly healthy, but it's a nice treat! they definitely hit the spot this morning when i was craving a southern style breakfast. omnomnom!

  • thats not Vegan because there is MILK in that bread.

  • being vegan seems sooooo time-consuming. I like the idea of it, because I like animals, but I only have so much time in the day and I can't devote all of it to preparing every single ingredient from scratch. Too bad there aren't more food companies making vegan stuff that's 1.) easy to find in stores; and 2.) tasty.

  • @likethepear well, it depends on where you live if you want convenience. people in the US can get loads of vegan ready-made stuff, even in major supermarkets now. i live in the uk and i regularly see vegan ice cream and other products in the frozen section. really i don't think a vegan diet is any more time consuming than a 'regular' omnivorous diet, if you go about it the right way. i've not been cooking for THAT long, but i can knock out some (pretty tasty) vegan meals in about 30 mins :)

  • @likethepear No way, it isn't -that- hard. All you need to do is mix your grain with your bean/nut and you have a complete protein. On time-pressed days, that's as simple as mashing canned beans and spreading them on whole grain toast; or throwing peanuts into your oatmeal. Those two ideas lack vitamins, but have great fibre and protein, and are very satisfying for the occasional rush day.

  • @Kiddalee you frogot the easiest one. organic peanut butter on who grain bread.

  • this recipe looks absolutely fantastic. I love making egg sandwiches in the morning, but because I am supposed to cut down on my sat fats, I think this is a better alternative to eggs and real bacon. very cool. What kind of oil do you use, I am hooked on olive oil. (not EVOO, but just a generic olive oil)

  • atleast your not fat LOL

  • fried food for breakfast? sounds like my home country :)

  • why in the end, say the word "fin"? why not in english?

  • most vegans i know look like walking skeletons

  • I HATE MUSTARD!!!!!!

  • Wow i dont have it often but you are one big beautiful woman who knows how to cook as well.

    Marry me!

  • yummmmm. I'm 11 and i love me some tofu

  • can't wait to try it

  • Yes, black salt is cool and maybe 1/3 C chopped Parsley

  • That looks awesome! Thanks as a vegetarian I get tired of the same ole same ole but this is great I'm gonna try that tomorrow. =)

  • Kinda like Playdoh. :D Thanks for this amazing recipe!

  • WTF is bacon bits?

  • oh yeah!!!!!!!!! im having this 2moro morning for breakfast for sure!!!!!! yummy!!!!!!!!

  • Yum! But I think she should try wearing red or blue. This color seems to wash her out. :/

  • that looks pretty yummy. I make tofu scrambles with diced potatoes and red bells, with veggie bakin strips but I'm ready to try this one!

  • I make "tofu scrambles" sometimes but I liked this idea of making it into patties! I tried this out last weekend but used Garbanzo (Chickpea) flour instead of the white flour. (I'm sure Soy flour or Wheat flour would work well too.) I also added nutritional yeast and some other seasonings. They browned beautifully and stayed together well (made 6 English Muffin-sized patties). Not an everyday breakfast maybe, but a nice weekend treat! Thanks!

  • For those that want this gluten-free i'd assume you could always replace the flour, with rice flour.

  • Healthy generally associates itself automatically with the vegan lifestyle. Especially if you stick with making things from scratch or are a raw food vegan.

However, vegan-friendly frozen dinners, etc are technically labled as "junk food" amongst the vegan communities due to them being a processed food.

  • Would this be easy to convert to gluten free? Any tips EVERYDAYDISH? Love your show!

  • Ok, I know what I'm making when I get up in the morning! :D Thanks!

  • Although, I think this is begging for some green onion! <3

  • try once with liquid smoke, I think you will like it...Thanks for sharing. I'm going to try it, but I will no use the fake bacon.

  • looks yum

  • I wish it were gluten free.

  • Joni made her own vegan Bacon Bits. You can find the recipe on our channel.

  • I just read the back of my Baco's package, whihc is what I use in place of fake bacon. And it is made with hydoliezed oil So this will not be in my meals any longer. Not only am I vegging my life, I am also cutting out processed foods as well.

  • I think you're beautiful!!!! You are awesome!

  • @seinfeld11123 Have it occured to you that she may be pregnant or just had a recent childbirth. I think she knows what she looks like...The good thing is that she eats healthy...So she is the head of the game. More so, she looks like a woman with confidence...So if she is happy it doesn't matter what you or others think or suggest.

  • @AGoodWomanDiji you have totally missed the point of the post, it was about removing aspartame from your foods!!! I dont care what she looks like either, she looks great. just needs to loose weight thats all, I just lost 25 kg's mate so im not some skinny guy saying haha fatty boom bah, I am fat myself.

  • @seinfeld11123 The issue with vegans and being too heavy is all the vegan junk food out there. Vegan or not, junk food is still just that. So this is breakfast: fried tofu with white flour and 'bakin', english muffins, hash browns with ketchup.

I went the vegan junk route and it made me very unhealthy.

Now here breakfast is a glass of water with either some fruit, or some oatmeal, or a slice of whole grain bread with avocado slices and fresh veggies on top, or a spinach and fruit smoothie.

  • @plumevine

absolutely vegan junk and convenience food is full of fat, and heavy carbs, most organic wholemeal breads are 45G of carbs per slice!! thats 3 times as much as normal wholemeal breads, so yea you have to know the content of what you are eating for sure. yes this is a very unhealthy breakfast regardless if they say its healthy tofu LOL.

  • @seinfeld11123

Carbs are not what makes you fat, consuming accessive calorie intake and not burning it off, is what makes you fat. That's a fact.

I've been into the whole alternative health lifestyle since I was 7 years old, and i'm 29 going on 30 in the next few months, and from all my years of being an alternative health practitioner i've found that 99% of so called "health" information out there is either a bunch of bunk, or altered information to sell you something at an inflated price.

  • This looks deliciousssss!!!! Totally trying it!

  • This so-called "queen of veggie burgers" still has a lot of meat on them bones.

  • What is "Bakin" made of?

  • this looks good

  • Aren't bacon bits flavoured with pork sources?

  • @tommyk77 yes they are but the "bacon" she is using is fake. morningstar and other brands make great faux bacon.

  • Maybe some are, but a good portion I've come across are vegan. Also it was mentioned in the comments that she made her own 'bits'. I've done the same using tempeh before. :)

  • I agree with you, everything was processed a food.

  • @treinspore Not all vegans are vegan for health. Many vegans are vegan for animal rights issues, and while health is important, they are not "health foodies".

Most vegans stand for abolition of animal slavery not "healthy, live vegetables, etc etc..."

  • @tigerlilyxoxo so true....i became a vegetarian when i was well in my 20's so obvs not for health reasons but moral issues..............very much dislike being called a hippy etc! Funny thing is vegetarians don't bother people who eat meat...so why do meat eaters constantly rag on us "rabbit food" eaters?? totally backwards!!! LOL XD

  • @idloveadrink why not go vegan? no moral difference between meat & dairy/eggs. i can send you info on this if you'd like

  • it's "vegan" if it has no animal products.

  • Thanks this looks yummy!

  • ohh thnx

  • yeah thats what i was thnking too...

  • You're right. There is no substitute for pig belly lard. Yum. If I could just eat it raw, out of a freshly slaughtered pig, I would be a happy camper.

  • me too.

  • I was being sarcastic. I like pepper, maple, salt and smoke flavoring - it smells and tastes so good. But why waste it on saturated belly lard?

  • @WanderingGnome so was i :]]

  • Well then I apologize. Sorry people without compassion irk me.

  • as a wannabe cook, i like the phrase "bacon make it better",,as for the fat and chloresterol,,i burn it off at the gym the next day or so, bacon is a great ingrediant,, but i'll use fake bacon to make things easier if i dont have time

  • Agreed. ;) *Sarcasm!*

  • Why come here to be disrespectful of other peoples' beliefs? Is it just to get attention or because you have nothing better to do and want attention?

  • well sure

if ya like the taste f dead pig carcass :)

  • what is bacon? 90 percent fried fat. So yeah, technically there's no substitute for that. But WHY would you wanna eat something that is so awful for you? If you're even remotely interested in your health, then morningstar and other brands make very yummy faux bacon -- without the killer, cholesterol-ridden fat.

  • @SamiOhEmGee It's Bakin... imitation Bacon...

  • HAHA...Imitation.
