  • Remember when this video was about Strike and then turned into some novice trying edit midi??? Me too!

  • Arguments are great, the other person always walks away agreeing with the person who talks the loudest right?

  • lol "Taht's a big long one there"

  • jian2069 windows sucks cock it's slow full of errors and you suck cock because you don't know what is excellence if it came and hit you in the nuts macs rock windows sucks deal with it

  • cool. so there's no need to record hihats, cymbals, kicks, snares etc on single tracks each? Sounds good to me cos otherwise too much stuffing around with tracks.

  • Great, great demo, this helped me a lot. Are you doing a demo on how to create your own beats and fills etc in Strike?

  • what happened to the howaudio websight. i get an error 404 message when i try to access my account? anybody else?

  • Damn techno haters...

  • how i can download it?

  • Buy It!! requires iLok key

  • is dis only 4 mac?

  • No PC also, but using any of this kind of labour intensive stuff is always much more solid on a Mac because they are much more solid.

  • LOL MACS MORE SOLID

    enjoy homosexuality

  • You speak from experience don't you peasant? I am pretty fucking sure you operate on an IQ of about 30 if you were having a good day. I would so love to meet somebody like you face to face then I would really get to know how much of a set of balls you really have or is it just someone trying to dis someone else for trying to help others. You are someone who can't get a fuck even from your sister. Fuck off!! Is this what you were hoping for?

  • lol trolled

    macs do suck cock though

  • @jian2069 I've been getting on hell of a rim job for 20 years now, and I still wipe my ass with a pc.

  • No, it works on PC too, but it's a Pro Tools plugin so you must have Pro Tools

  • Just cus u play instruments doesnt make you a musician, you have to be able to make music from it.

  • does strike have that drag and drop skill? like in ez drummer where u just drag and drop a pattern?

  • Yes it does plus any version purchased after Jan 08 has a free content expansion of about 300MB worth of preset styles...each contains several sections for verse, refill, intro etc

  • i bought it yesterday, and im not sure if i need to buy an ilok usb smart key to activate it... -.-'

  • Yes unfortunetely you do need an ilok for authorisation...that sucks

  • disgusting. Any real musician would look down upon using software to substitute for real instruments and talent.

  • any real musicians would learn the art of both settings whether acoustically and electronically

  • Good point. Music is an art form, and if you can use different tools to create your art, then you are a true musician.

Check out MikeyVPT... he uses all sorts of drum software for all of his recording, playing out live, and practice.

    alex

  • You're out of your mind!

Why wouldn't you embrace a way to make it easier and more possible for people to make music?

Any douchebag can make big statements starting with "any real musician...."

But I think if you were a real musician you would be able to recognize that people can be talented at multiple forms of musical creation, electronics included...

  • If you sample things and put things together that other people have already made... then how is that making music? You are programming, not being a musician.

People who use this program are no more musicians than a printing press is an author.

  • I think you're just putting your own personal limitations on electronically created music....

Not all people who create electronically use samples, in fact, most don't. Most people who record on a computer use VST's which are software instruments. The interface may be different, but the feeling and spirit is the same.

Plus, even remixing songs and using samples is making music, maybe not in it's purest form, but it is the creation of music that is important, not the methods used to make it...

  • If its not organically played, then i consider it artificial music and on the same level as rap or techno. Although this is even worse than rap or techno because this actually attempts to sound like real musicians.

This is a slap in the face to real multi-instrumentalists. I record all my music solo, (yes i even do the drums) It is all done organically (real drumset) and when i hear someone say that they do solo music, but their drums are from a computer, it pisses me off.

  • well, congratulations to you for being able to play all of those instruments, but some people don't have that luxury. i mean, i would love to be able to play drums, but it's just not feasible.

the thing is that as long as you can express whatever ideas you intend to express them, that it shouldn't matter what you use to get that across. there are even some bands like big black and genghis tron that use drum machines to surprising effectiveness.

  • So you don't consider hip-hop or techno to be made by real musicians?

    Someone should educate you.

There is more talent in almost any hip-hop artist out there than you will ever have a chance of having....

  • maybe poets, but not really musicians.

  • ....

    Please educate yourself.

  • Well, i hope you can agree that hip hop nowadays is basically just a product instead of art. Its really all commercialized bullshit, and i don't see what is musical about it, along with the fact that nobody is playing instruments. I just think dragging loops around doesn't really require any understanding of music except knowing what "sounds good"

  • The mainstream of hip-hop is definitely watered down commercial garbage, just like the mainstream of any genre that there is.

But if you think that hip-hop is just "dragging loops around" you're absolutely wrong. Using loops is the first sign of a bush league, amateur producer. None of the greats use pre-made loops, they may loop their own beats, but they made them.

And I think you need to check into what you're saying about not playing real instruments, there are a lot of hip-hop "bands."

  • i think modern hip hop is just crap all they do is make a chorus and a catchy beat and theres the song and everything thats not in the chorus of hook its like shoot a nigga bitch fuck u i got money drug or bitches

  • Where in the fuck did you go to school????

I feel really bad for your grade school teachers, because they've wholly and completely failed you.... It actually scares me a little that you have even graduated....

Learn to form cohesive sentences please,

and then when you do, stop watching MTV and get off the mainstream bullshit. Once you get an education and can actually understand hip-hop for what it is, then you'll see that there is a lot more to it than the bullshit you see on TV.

  • Argumentum ad hominem possibly? Reply to his argument rather than criticising his educational background or his ability to command the English language successfully. Also, the use of four consecutive question marks is found in no example of Standard English, for which you seem to be a devout ambassador of. Furthermore, an ellipsis consists of three full stops, rather than your four. Besides, your use of it is incorrect anyway. Don't be a grammar Nazi if you can't correctly use grammar yourself.

  • Grammer Natzi?

    Standhard English??

    Epilipsis???

    Add Hominy????

    Wha?

Oh, wait.... Maybe I was more concerned by the portrayal of hip-hop then the grammar.... I'm not sure, I forgot.

  • That's exactly my point darling, well done. You were criticising "WANNAbGAMER" for his supposed lack of education, rather than discussing the argument regarding the merits of hip-hop. And you seemed very concerned by grammar, hence: "Learn to form cohesive sentences". You might wish to get that memory of yours checked. :)

  • Get over yourself.

  • WOOOO U are a fucking idiot listening to the radio no? ever heard the new common or lupe fiasco what an asshole shitting on us

  • I hear that! Hiphop to me is something that when it's good it can be so amazingly good but when it's bad it can sound (and look) like the worst music ever. But to judge it solely on the bad while ignoring the obvious talent that a lot of old and new hiphop producers have MUSICALLY is just myopic and closed minded.

  • Hip Hop died with NWA

  • @iheartsedric

except for the guy who wrote Rihanna's "umbrella" using garageband.....whoops.

  • and by the way, the feeling and spirit is def. not the same at all. The improvisation can never be done to the extent it could be by live performing musicians. And to anyone who is really discerning when it comes to music, they will know the difference in sound. To me, loops just sound dead inside.

  • Well, it may hurt you to know this, but, I am a multi-instrumentalist myself and the majority of the music I create is hip-hop... I use all organic sounds for my samples, that means real drums, then I put the samples into a computer and play them back with my drum pad to make the beats I want.

It's not that I can't play the drums, I have plenty of experience there, I just feel that an electronic environment is more conducive to what I'm trying to do...

  • unfortunately it seems almost all of you are wrong and right. There is no clear cut way make music. Bmans yes i agree with you to an extent. But why limit yourself to acoustic instruments. Acoustics have a limited range of sound. One cannot expect to make Techno from acoustic instruments. Synthesizers have been used by MANY MANY composers/musicians. Hardware synthesizers dont look like a computer but essentially they are.

  • Also please electronic music producers...dont use premade drum beat samples. Create it yourself using a drum sequence such as the TR909(hardware) Fruityloops(software) and other things.

And please dont try to create Primarily acoustic styles electronically. i.e. dont try to Create a heavy metal song in FLstudio.

Leave electronic production for electronic music(i.e. Techno/trance/dance/harddance) and acoustics for acoustic(rock(most forms) and Exotic dance musics(spanish/italian..so on

  • I think it's wrong to limit electronic production to a small segment of music. The reason that things like VSTi's are so popular is because of how close they can come to recreating acoustic instruments. I record guitar acoustically and process it with software and I think it sounds great.

When it all comes down to it, musical preference is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think that some acoustically created music has even less spirit than electronic....

    Country for example...

  • Thank you,Fuckin ay! Just make the fucking tracks however you can, it's not a matter of who does what and how, it's just a matter of making the best of what you have to work with. I am a songwriter who is relatively a purist in a recording sense but I don't have space for drums or money to keep recording them, I need something like "Strike" to at least get the point across so that maybe when I do have some extra cash I can lay some down properly but portray my vision.

  • What about most of us who don't live in a drum friendly environment. Post one of your songs up then fuck breath, I bet it's a polished turd with fuck all melody or some shit you wrote in 20 mins that you think is to be the next big hit. I bet your one of those songwriters aren't you or are you just a drummer who is there to make up the numbers? I'd say so!!!! Whatever, no one will ever hear of you apart from your poor family who has to labour through your tedious efforts in the bedroom!

  • "interesting..." ;DDDDD

thank you for this tutorial ;)
