You don’t see videos like Bakkies hit on Tuilagi, Bakkie destroys Chabal or Bakkie ‘Enforces’ on O’Connell, he only ever does it to the smaller guy or when the cheap-shot's on. They must bind with one arm round a team-mate at the very back of the ruck or it considered a charge and dangerous play. Mostly refs let players get away with it due to the fact that it isn't hurting anyone and they bind onto a nearby player but when someone throws themselves in like this, it's dangerous.
I'm sorry but I'm fairly sure that to join a ruck the rules say that you must bind to the player you are contesting with...no binding there at all :/ fair do's though and a good charge by botha :P
if youre gunna go by the letter of the law then you have to bind before pushing in the ruck, but who actually does that these days? sorry for adam jones because in my opinion at that point he was the best tight head prop around.

nothing wrong with that. I know some comments say it was illegal and you have to bind to your own player but all players in front of him were off there feet. He did not enter from the side. He struck predominantly with his shoulder, it just happens to be very close to his head but it was in no way a head but. He didn't have anyone close enough to him to bind onto to enter the ruck. He struck predominantly with his shoulder, it just happens to be very close to his head but it was in no way a head but. He didn't have anyone close enough to him to bind onto to enter the ruck. (2) normal people are concerned for fellow human beings

It's one of those things that happens in every game....technically it is agains tthe rules and illegal. You are supposed to bind on when rucking...but nobody does it anymore and you could blow a penalty at every ruck.
IMHO Botha targeted his shoulder in this instance.....an exposed upper arm with the full force of Botha is either going to break the arm or dislocate the shoulder.

Personally I'd rather stick to facts than get into a slaggin match, and the fact is the current system is based on how bad the player is injured and what shirt you are wearing, not what you do. Andrew Sheridan, punching Bekkers nads, no citing. Brian o Driscoll, Swinging arm, head high from offside, no citing. Bakkies Botha, joining a ruck, citing + 2 week ban. I could go on, Twat.

English as I am, Botha was within the laws to hit the ruck (sorry, Adam Jones) and subsequently injuries like this will happen, the ban was wrong and seemed to be aimed his reputation NOT the incident IMO!
