Thank you for this video. This will be my first 1911 (the parkerized version). All I wanted was a step up from the GI model... especially the sights. I'm not too fond of all the bells and whistles you find you these higher end 1911s, like skeletonized trigger/hammer/ all that jazz.... awesome though, thank you again
@1v1oCODoStatus I'm not going to say ALL pistols have rifled barrels, because I'm sure their are exceptions... but this gun, and the majority of other pistols have rifled barrels..., so no. But there would be no need for "rifling a pistol" because, like I said, the barrel already has rifling.
Great video. On the series 80 system vs the 70, and the more a trigger has to do, I would say that a trigger job on a series 80 yielding 3.5# or a series 70 yielding a 3.5# trigger pull, is just that, 3.5#. Many gunsmiths have achieved great trigger jobs on series 80 pistols. Now the safety factor, that's a different story. Great discussion!
@TBear92 Yeah, but all kinds of stuff can happen in the field. The slide hold open feature could get bumped off accidentally, or may not work due to grit or a mechanical failure.
@RaidingWindmills good point, hopefully you dont lose an arm to begin with lol. i am ordering this exact gun tomorrow. it took me forever to find this gun available with the right price.
You might have the gun with none in the chamber and a loaded mag installed. It is not a good idea to carry with one in the chamber or it could accidently go off. Something might happen where you need to rack the slide one handed such as someone suddenly trying to take the gun away and one hand is tied up trying to keep them back. Not speaking from experience or as an expert, just repeating what some, so called experts, have said including law enforcement trainers.
Been interested in the 1911 for while. This looks like a good model here! Mil-Spec for me. This or the 92FS/M9.
I play Battlefield Bad Company 2 & got the 1911 early (Ultimate Edition). I was so happy, because there are TABLES EVERYWHERE in the battlefield just for when I get shot in the arm. I just approach a table and press x for the 'Injured Tactical Table Reload' as read in the instruction manual.
I feel so good to know that random tables in the battlefield are considered tactical.
You need some tactical training...if you want to rack the slide back with one hand you use your knees or corner pocket same with changing out a mag. slap the gun upside down in between your knees remove mag put new one in grab and slide and pull up ready to fire... good luck with zombies and your one arm and looking for a table or rock to rechamber your 1911.
i wouldnt hold the single action against it. If i ever went to fire a round and it didnt go bang, i would never waste the time to pull the trigger again and hope it works the second time. I would always clear that round and chamber the next one. just my $0.02. Beautiful gun by the way.
you can field strip no problem with a full length guide rod just use a coin to depress the plug while rotating the brushing, just magyver some shit haha
@satorres82 I love this chair! Got it a few years ago at Office Depot. Took my time with selection. I wanted pneumatic adjustability and no arm rests since I wanted to be able to kick back and play guitar in it (arm rests would just slam into a guitar). Problem now is that sometimes I fall asleep in it, and because it has no arms, I fall out the chair and wake up when I hit the floor! hehhe.
@RaidingWindmills Just picked one up today, going for 700 to 750 in stores, if you can find one. Online starting at 650, if you can find one, most online shops run out of stock real quick.
awesome 1911. my grandfather gave me a casing of a 45 that he kept wen he fought in ww2 he said the 1911 was the best handgun ever made. very reliable.
thanks for the video, i just purchased this exact pistol.

Would Rifling a pistol ruin it?

for anyone who doesn't know...if you have a hard primer you can just cock the hammer. you don't have to rack the slide.

I want that chair!

the slide would have been held open at the end of the first clip? therefore you wouldnt have to rack it just drop the slide instead.

The Springfield Mil-Spec stainless you have is probably one of the most beautiful 1911s on the market. Take good care of it! :)

@mr00jimbo Oh, I will. But, this gun is so durable I don't think I'll have to try very hard. LOL!

This is another reason why the 1911 is one of the best fighting pistols ever made.
