@ninslipknot204 You're insane. He worshiped each producer and picked them. I asked him when I met him in 89 how he lined up so many great producers.. Sherwood, LeBlanc, Fryer, Flood. He said he basically had to sign almost all of his profits over to be able to land them. You do know Sherwood and LeBlanc factored heavily on Ministry's Twitch, right? On Trent's farewell tour vid performance (here on YT) he said he was wearing the same Ministry T in the PHM sessions as a fan in the audience.
I love the PHM recordings, and ever nin recording for that matter, but man, the guitar and samples on these demos really are a great touch, much more defining.
I've come to the conclusion that this, Twist, and Kinda I Want To are better on Purest Feeling. Why Reznor changed them is anyones guess. Maybe something to do with TVT making him alter the record to how they wanted it to sound?
And the other commenters are right, his parents divorced and he lived with his grandparents. I think it's funny how you say NIN is your favorite band and you know everything about Trent but you call "I'm Looking Forward to Joining You Finally" something something finally.
it's actually a Reznor heater... his family owned an industrial heater company based out of mercer PA (his hometown) i have worked in manufacturing for 7 years and most places i've ever worked had reznor heaters

wat are u tlkin about trents family died when he was a kid and he lived with his god mother till she passed away the song on the fragile album something something finally was a song to his god mother so how could his family run shit he would have sooner or later say in a interview or biography i know my shit nin is my favorite band of all time dont judge me
you are retarded... trent lived with his grandparents cuz his parents divorced when he was little. and his family did own the reznor heater company. stop being a fanboy cuz you suck at it. i know my shit better than you do, hack. maybe if you just researched it you wouldn't be such a knowledgeless dink to people on the internet.
i'm glad the internet exists- a few years ago in ireland, i struggled to get NIN cds - but i would NEVER EVER have heard this stuff. not sure if purest feeling is 100% up my street but this is really cool
AWSOME, love this version. still say purest feeling should've been an official halo, its always been one of my favorite nin albums. definitely not recognized enough for the time that Trent obviously spent on remixing Pretty Hate Machine even further than halo 1,3,and 4.
Yes, yes! I love the demo versions! I found the Pretty Hate Machine demo about eight years ago, and was so stoked and amazed when I heard it. Ringfinger had more of a sadomasochist approach with the lyrics, and you totally can hear the Skinny Puppy influence for sure. It sounds so nostalgic, even if you were six in that era. The sound traces back.
Wow,I hadn't heard this version before! I love it hard! "Sanctified" has always been one of my favorite songs by NIN...what a masterpiece Pretty Hate Machine is...

I think it's actually the blades of an old combine, polarized and colored red and blue. I read it in a biography of NIN.
