Other good material concerning these matters is the work of Holger Gzella - Cosmic Battle and Political Conflict: Studies in Verbal Syntax and Contextual Interpretation of Daniel 8 (2003).
John Joseph Collins, renowned scholar in near-eastern apocalyptic writings about Dan 7-8:
''Daniel 7 is the model for the form of the symbolic vision. It is not followed rigidly, but is supplies some of the crucial symbolism, especially the ''little horn'' and the use of ''holy ones'' for angels...
Yet Daniel 8 is evidently designed to complement ch. 7 and shares the same conceptual and symbolic world. Together they are part of a composite whole.''
He isn't much of a renowned scholar if he doesn't see that Ch 8 stands apart from Ch7. Chapter 8 deals with only the two empires of Medo-Persia and Greece. From the Grecian Empire comes the little horn who is Epiphanes IV.
The power that follows the leopard with four heads in Dan 7 is the fourth beast with its little horn symbol and the power that follows the goat with the four horns in Dan 8 is in the same position as the fourth beast with its little horn symbol. The event that follows the little horn in Dan 7 is the heavenly judgment, and the event that follows the little horn in Dan 8 is the nitsdaq of the sanctuary. The elements that are in the same position explain and complement each other.
The ram in Dan 8:3-4 is in the same position as the bear in Dan 7:5 and the same is evident with regard to the goat with the four horns in Dan 8:5-8 and the leopard with four heads in Dan 7:6.
Ok humor me if like you said it was actually 458BC as you said and 69 weeks were literal that means that the messiah would have come 483 days after 458BC =approx 456 BC now I am confused -Who was it then that died on the cross 488 years later?
"Day for a year principle has no place in the bible"-your words.
Dan 7:25-26 "..from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem unt the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and three score and two weeks(69weeks) Ezra 7:13"I make a decree,...go up to Jerusalem.."(457BC) do some math, day for a year =69 wks 483days=483years so 457BC+483years=27AD Baptism of Jesus
First you guess at the baptism of Jesus and show no historical proof of that. Second the decree you speak of was actually 458 but you failed to cj=heck that out. Third the decree of Daniel 9 has nothing to do with the bogus year for day principle. Can't believe you even tried to push that off on people.
It is this misinterpretation of Daniel 8:14 that brought about other wrong teaching as well. Like IJ and the Sanctuary Doctrine. If the ministers interpreted it right then EW would be shown a false prophetess. Which she was anyway. 5/5
Nice video as always, but are we positive that they misinterpret these passages ON PURPOSE? I mean, when you hear most faith-alone folks' interpretation of James 1 and 2, it's easy to feel like they're being disingenuous.
Yes! After over 100 years every SDA minister interprets the word "day" as 2300 years. The word day is evening and morning and they well know that. Their own scholars have attempted to show them this and are fired for questioning it.
i was shocked when i discovered that Daniel 8:14 have 3 translations
2300
2200 and
2400 evening mornings.
Even the Dead Sea Scrolls don't have any mention about it.
