"We call them Melon Patch Kids. Now, the competition exploits the notion that their dolls are orphans. The Melon Patch Kids are not orphans... they're abandoned! We think it's a winner." ~ quote from Back to School
@Jmike0907, What was his name?. Oh Btw I also used to have a Cabbage Patch Kids Doll, and It was a boy, and it was also a baby one, and His name was Christopher.
I remember that on 1996 (or 1997, don't remember that well) Christmas my best friend and I asked for those cabbage patch kids that came with a white dress (looked like a paper dress) and some crayons so that you could paint her face. We specifically asked for them too look like they could be our daughters...I got a blue eyed blonde whose hair was a bit lighter than mine but it was ok....my curly, brunette, tan skinned, brown eyed friend got a green eyed, fair skinned redhead lol she was SO mad..
Me and my sister would get a mini cabbage patch kid every christmas and birthday. We still have ALL of them in a huge duffel bag. They were my favorite toys when I was a kid.
The best Cabbage Patch Kids vid is on Youtube at "Bob Austin PM Magazine" Look for the Cabbage Patch Kids story where he visits Babyland General Hospital and talks to the guy who came up with the idea, Xavier Roberts. It's a funny story.
I once knew a sick kid who used to cut "vaginas" into the female dolls so he could fuck em. I'd go over to his house to play Nintendo and I'd see the dolls with cotton coming out from between their legs and ...Im gonna throw up.
I was in 2nd grade when CPK hit & I had 2 & im happy to say that I kept them thru everything & now my 5 year old daughter is the proud owner of my old dolls.
I don't know any kid who DIDN'T have a Cabbage Patch doll, when I was growing up. When I was in Kindergarten in 1987, some girl brought her talking CPK doll to school for Show and Tell. My sister and I had a few, between the two of us. I've since lost mine, (my mom gave them to Goodwill, years ago) but my sister still has her "Pretty Crimp 'N' Curl" doll, in mint condition.
I love these dolls. I have five of them that I sleep with every night. LMAO. My oldest one I've had since I was 4 years old. (got her in Christmas of 1990) and I wouldn't part with her for anything. Her name is April Camille. (yeah, I remember her name!)
oh cute the commercials were so innocent back then unlike today. i remember i had my first cabbage patch doll in 1983 oh i loved that doll i took her everywhere and all the other little kids carried their dolls too in the stores and other places.it was really something to see.they were the most populat cdoll
I wonder if child actress Heather O'Rourke was in any Cabbage Patch Kids Commercials. Did u know that child actress had a huge collection of these dolls she loved them aww. She's the little girl from the Poltergeist films, the child star sadly died at age of 12 from a illness rip little Heather.
my mom had to go to like fifty freakin stores to find a boy cabbage patch kid,but we can only tell cuz of his clothing, cuz his adoption papers say its first name is "maura".anyone hear know if thats a boy or girl name??
i think that koussa doll is a rip off,a kid gets it and thinks they wont have to study for a test as long as they keep it in their backpack, they get the test results back aaaaaaannnnnnnnnndddddddddd..."MOM! I THOUGHT THIS STUPID DOLL WAS LUCKY LIKE IT SAID IN THE COMMERCIAL!!!!!".anybody here see my point??
i have over 30 cabbage patch kids and i got twins yesterday on christmas they were in sepret boxes sop i would be more surprised my dad got them on ebay they are vintage
lucky! I got a new one yesterday. Her name's Verona Margene, she's a pop'n style! She was born march 19th, just like me! Also, she looks exactly like me! I have 5 now, and am hoping to get 1 more 4 my B-day, coming up soon. I'm having a CPK party, since I'm celebrating Verona's B-day as well. It was from "Santa". She is cute. I have one new born named Haylynn gostere, born August 12th, 2008, and Then i have Sylvia Justine, who was born July 16th, and my last 1 Pricilla Celine, born June 11th
God remember when parents would trample people in the toy store to get one of these for their kids for xmas. Looks like we haven't evolved much in 20 years
Gosh i had all thos accesories!! i had the one with the glasses, his name was Melvin or Brans, don't remember i had like 10!! i had a blondie, a red hair, a new born named Dennis but when my baby was born (i already in high school) she started destroyed my afro cpk... i just loved them, no i only have like 3 left as a good memory of my childhood
I love these commericals. I remember in 84 when my Dad used to sell toys he brought two of them home to give to our friends daughters. I just fell in love with them. He brought me one home Lewis Augustine which I still have and I have collected more since then. They are the best dolls in the world.
LOL!!!!!!!!!! I think we'll call him Harvey! OMG I remember that like it was yesterday! I guess there wasn't a shortage of Cabbage Patch dolls for the '08 Xmas season! :)
the 4th commercial with the twins is very disturbing, the litte girl is married to the man,and the ittle girl gets freaky with the man and gives birth to dolls.WTF?
Man, I was born in 1981, and I must have at least 5 Cabbage Patch dolls up in my attic somewhere. I had quite a bit of them and are surprised to see how much they cost!! My parents weren't loaded, I guess I was quite spoiled in that respect. I had a preemie, maybe 2 or 3 girls, a boy, even had a Koosa one. Maybe even more? I know I have one that had styleable wire hair.
I have the one at :53 & he is my most prized possession. I loved that doll so much when I was little. I was born in 1986 & when my brother was born in 1989 my parents bought me that doll so I could have my own baby to take care of.
I wonder if the market for fraudulent cabbage patch kid documents is still bustling. I obtained forged passports and social security cards for all of mine. I even got a job for one of them at a meatpacking plant in Nebraska.

Mum organised a party and we had all my friends come around with their CPK dolls too (still got the group photos) and I recall a few fake CPK were there. They were dodgy, but I can't talk. I went right thru my childhood without a Carebear, so Mum sewed an odd-shaped heart onto my own bear to keep me happy. It worked for about 5 minutes.
cabbage patch kids were out in 83.they just kept making new ones, you know, with paci mouths, teeth, cornsilk hair... I still have all mine..and added more to the collection.
I remember back in the eighties when people where killing each other for these dolls. All the brats in my neighborhood had one. I was too poor to get one. My mom who is from another country sewd me a "home made" cabbage patch kid. NOT THE SAME THING. She sewed nipples on it. God only knows why. Its true, me and my sister were poor and we wanted a Cabbage Patch so bad my mom sewed two dolls for us. And for some reason she thought it would be cruel if they went around nippleless. I know, what the heck right? I thought well atleast I got me a doll. Which now that I remember, really didn't look like a Cabbage Patch. All the kids in the neighborhood thought our dolls were freaks. Its just nipples, cripes I didn't sew them. I tell you I took my doll to church once, and only once. :O
Ah, but sadly true. Right after she sewed them for us, we were so proud we went out into our neighborhood sporting our new HOMEMADE (BETTER THAN THE STORE) CABBAGE PATCH Dolls. This is what my mom claimed. Took only a couple of hours for the kids to make fun of my for "For Real" Cabbage Patch doll. The dolls made good clubs for bullies. :o
My first CPK was a reject. My mom's friend worked in a store and I suppose saved this one from the dumpster and gave it to my mom, who passed it off to me as a new Cabbage Patch Kid. I should have realized when it didn't come in a box. Her left foot was missing all of the stitching, giving it the appearance of a ball, essentially. I still loved her though... Jacobena Josepha. I was good at hiding her deformity from my friends.
dude I use to like cabbage patch kids but I dont think I remember having any. I was born in 1981 so I probably saw these commercials when I was like 5 or 8yrs old ^-^ I use to like the tv series. Wish they came back.
