Man, why does everything have 2 be soo sad?? This was an amazing movie, but very sad and i can't believe its a true story!! It makes me cry even more!
@cobedangyeu123 - everybody got fear to do the wrong thing, because everything was extremly punished, just a friendship with a jew, or to be a friend of a friend of a jew could meant a death sentence... if every "german" had said a word when the nazis came to take the partner, friends, neighbors away or at least if they would have visited them in the concentration camps it wouldn't be so easy to kill all the people in silence. but only one woman - the naive lily - it seems insane.
Great movie, sad to know it was a true story. Just one question if anyone can answer please: Why the names Aimee & Jaguar, if their names were Felice & Lilly? Did I miss something?
Wow. I know the actresses who portrayed Aimee & Jaguar were in their early- mid 30s when they played these roles. I didnt know that the real Aimee was only 29 and the real Jaguar was only 20! When their relationship began. Jaguar was only 22 when she died = [ Very sad times.
Thank you for posting it.. I really liked it. It has a bit of everything.. I just hoped that it was longer.. Can't get enough of the characters. But to sum it up it was superb..
I honestly think this film needed a bit more time, length you know? I didn't feel I got to know the characters properly and a slightly longer movie woulda added character depth. Definitely not a bad one though, far from it, I just wouldn't put it up there with 'favourite' movies.
This movie is a masterpiece, and there is no needs to be gay to appreciate it. This is a tragic story, a story that tore my heart so deeply. I first saw it many years ago into a Montreal's festival movies ; I was shocked, but I failed to remember all hearting was their life and how good was the performance of theses actresses ! That was moving beyond words..she waited for her in vain - true love conquers all or so we think. The war was tragic beyond words we can ever express..when lilly was lay on the floor screaming for her and there was absolutely nothing she could do choked me so much. Wow! That was so cathartic! This film is so beautiful and inspiring. It's one of those rare movies that you feel in your heart even when it's over. It made my heart ache and I cried like a baby, but it left me feeling a renewed faith in love. :)
Sadly enough, it was. Felice was arrested on August 20, 1944, about two weeks after Anne Frank and her family were arrested on August 4 1944. Sadly enough Lilly never had a love that could equal what she had with Felice. She died a couple of years ago around 2006 herself.
I am straight. I find gays always bullshit that Brokeback Mountain was robbed of an Oscar. I found that picture boring. This on the other hand is one of the best pictures I have ever seen. Thoroughly deserves an Oscar. Outstanding acting with a great story. 5*. Thanks Ettena for the subtitles.

Their nicknames. There is a short explanation in the book why they took these nicknames. It was Felices idea.
Have you read the book? I would recommend it strongly.

I really liked the movie. It was different. Though, I must agree with RedRally, I wish it could have had some more length.
