  • sounds like Concerto for four banjos !

  • I don't understand why they didn't choose four harpsichord. Fortepiano sound disturb harpsichords'. ;(

  • this conductor is a clown...the pianists are pathetic...

everybody is this performance wants only to show off...

seems to be a crowd of amateurs performing at

    college final concert...

  • one of them is clearly playing on a pianoforte, obv couldn't get hold of enough harpsichords, really stands out from the other harpsichords :(

  • the piano sounds like shit

  • @RosaParks0GETBaC its a harpsichord.

  • @BlackIsOut i was trying to make a point that harpsichord is an superior instrument and it was not appropriate to any of Bach's work on a piano

  • Rhis Concert is beautiful, really they seem to Dracul playing concert bach, but i have played this concert and is well. anyway.!!jaja

  • the camera should be really on the hands of the second lady at 2:56!

  • Guglielmi, Dantone and Labeque(s) :P

  • Excellant tempo, love the contrast between the fortepianos and harpsichords.

  • harpsichords wins

  • why should one use fortepiano's?? that's crazy!

  • There was probably a shortage of harpsichords in the place.

  • @gambistico why use fortepianos? for something different. god help us if all music was played in the same way.

  • It sounds REALLY good but the first movement is waaaaaaay too fast. should be at around 100 maybe even slower.

  • I think that at a swifter tempo the piece achieves a delicate touch as opposed to a slower one where the piece becomes to notey.

  • se oye demasiado bajo

  • The twins are the Labeque Sisters, Katia and Marielle, and the other harpsichordist is Luca Guglielmi.

  • @molsada they aren't twins though haha

  • @ngpiano72 You're absolutely right, my bad. For some reason, I thought, or at least to me it appeared as though they were twins ;)

  • Can you please tell me the Names of the Twins? they are so Majestic!!!! u can see it in their eyes.

  • I don't think that's Claudio Abbado

  • das ist mir etwas zu schnell und zu viele schnörkel sind auch dabei. naja...

  • And this wonderful performance REALLY would deserve to be rendered superbly in sound as well. Just a tip: billhug upload the video again, they have made some improvements to the compression technique because so many users complained!!

  • Great sound? Yes, I suppose well in the original, but this video is mono. Did Youtube massacre it? I wouldn't be surprised, it massacred mine with their stupid compression technique. GO VIMEO, folks, and you get a decent sound, and much more! Youtube drives me mad. Even their HD is fucked up. I tested it, on Vimeo you get a better sound with normal videos than on Youtube with HD or HQ, it's a pity.

  • The recording sucks, but this is an

    excellent and fresh rendition omop.

    Thx for sharing !

  • The replacing of 2 harpsis. with 2 fortpis. is daring and gives the Baroque-effect of 2 groups and forte versus piano. The whole thing sounds marvelous. Bravi!

  • Once more, it appears that not many know that this music is by VIVALDI. Bach re-arranged it (beautifully) for 4 harpsichords, but the credit for everything that "rocks" about this concerto is Vivaldi's. Period. The keyboard(s) version has more "punch", but other than that - and a few runs and many masterfully added voices/doublings (some hard to hear anyway).... well Bach himself thought highly enough of Vivaldi's Op. 3, to re-arrange some of the concertos for his own use AND study.

  • I don't know what kind of statement the ensemble is trying to make by replacing two harpsichords with fortepianos, but it wasn't a good idea. Bach disliked the fortepianos he got the chance to play, and their stronger hammered sounds just overpower the plucked harpsichords, Very unsatisfying, personally.

  • Now we have Katia & Marielle Labeque and Ottavio Dantone.

    Who is the other?

  • Claudio Abbado

  • Cool, the best 1065 I've heard!! Thanks!

  • Why one of them sounds like piano?

  • great vivaldi, and great bach!

  • it sounds like the harpsichords are muted. I can hear the fortepiani, but not them, how disapointing.

  • :-/

  • I liked that. great concerto. great perfomance. that was bach!

  • Antonio Vivaldi forever

  • Horrifying! You might as well perform this great work with a lute, harpsichord, guitar and automobile horns. YOu COULD put the piano lady in an airtight isolation chamber. That would at least cut out the noise and her cRaZy facial tics. I keep thinking of the middle part - BANG BANG BANG BANG!! All from that idiotic piano duo. And the chords that sound like 50mm Howitzers every time they are hit. The WORST 1065 I have heard EVER. Bahhhhh!

  • at least it's accurate.

  • _Good, Good,

    bye flautisco

  • Iadore this and esp the outrageously facinatingly beautifull second keyboardist from the left Icould watch you play all day/night Simply love to observe musicians who s every fibre of their being is devoted to music like your's That goes for all of you Love to see the orchestra moving with every phrase It makes for the best enjoyment for the audience Bravo loved it Make sure you all record much much more !Love and respect Alain x x x

  • I agree with xanderion and tm37gt. Because of 2 pianoforte, I can't concentrate on harpsichords. You know, the sound of harpsichord is quiet and weak. But generally the intention is so good. Mabey Bach must be dislike this sound.

  • Bach hates fortepiano. The only piece Bach has ever written for it was the Ricercar a 3 in the musical offering.

  • bellissimo!!!!!!!!veramente non smetterei di sentirlo!

  • Don't want to stir it up, but I find it the worst version of this concert (the most beautiful for more than 1 harpsichord? or maybe the most beautiful at all?) ever recorded. First of all: 4 harpsichords, not 2 harpsichords and 2 fortepianos! And 4 harpsichordists, without pianists trying to slink into a Baroque group. If you want pianos, then listen to Argerich and her friends' live concert which you will easily find here on yt. But I'd rather suggest Pinnock and his friends'...

  • xanderion-I wonder if mixing harps and fortepiano was actually a choice or simply there weren't 4 identical kboards available at the time.Respectful of any personal op.my best liked rendition is hands down a 4 harps performance eventhough I own a few 4 pianos renditions.Honestly can't blame Labeque&Co. offering us such a blend of keyboards.Btw the audio sucks and I'd like to get a CD if ever recorded, for a quality listening to this uncommon partnership among different kboards.

  • this is by far the best version of BWV1065 i have ever heard. And I have been trying to match it with searches everywhere! hats off Katia & Marielle Labeque, Giardino and the rest that make this a quality tune!!

  • Vivaldi+Bach = atomic bomb!

  • hear hear! the great and eloquent speaker!

  • romi37 - absolutely it's a blast !

    P.S.for committed audience only...

  • the women from 1:24-1:50 really plays with great passion! and really has that strong barouqe feel to it. but she kinda scare me lol

  • A bit to fast for my taste and sre those 3 harpsicords with 1 piano why not just use 4 harpsicords for the barouque feel? but great prformance

  • Beautiful; one of the best performances I've heard of both concerti I've heard to this date. I've always liked Il Giardino Armonico, and this reinforces my appreciation for them. =)

  • Bach rocks!!

  • Il giardino armonico, perfect as always. Very interesthing combination with fortepiano. Bach was realy opsesed with Vivaldi. :P

  • I agree Giardino has great taste in music. His tempo/timing etc is natural and flowing. I love the conducting from 5:28. He tames the tempo then lets it rip at 5:45. There is nothing quite like the sound of well presented music. Something so deep and innate wakens when you hear it, something that is not English or any spoken language, but you get it.
