People need to calm down on the comments here. She's a paid example, so what? You think the other celebrities we see on tv do this kind of stuff for free? She got the point across, and she is simply saying that she's lucky to have the things she has in life, because most teen moms don't. But that doesn't make motherhood for her any easier. In my opinion she had it a lot harder than most, the entire country knew about her pregnancy and they didn't always have kind things to say about it either.

@Lauren7569 : Do you honestly think she wrote this commercial herself? Uh, no. She was paid an obscene amount of money to do this, so it isn't out of the kindness of her heart or concern for others. And as for everyone else out here -- how are we doing any better? How about I graduated college, work as a public servant saving lives for FAR less than two hundred some-odd thousand dollars. I think I'm a way better person than that cow.
@shinton90 I figure you're probably not into religion; frankly, I hate Churchianity, but I think Christianity is pretty freakin' great. Consider, if you will, Matthew 20:1-16. oh yes i get it if you are rich and a celebrity your kids will be ok:

GREAT PSA!
She is a good mom, I hate how all of you think she's a bitch and think she only had a baby because she's rich and blah blah blah. It was an accident. She isnt the only teenager who has had a child. SO stop your whining and realize she is a good mother.
This bitch don't care that she got pregnant. Shit. This bitch is mad hype. She gets all this attention for having a baby, acting gigs, and guest appearances. Getting pregnant is the best thing that ever happened to her. Kids if you are not some rich bitch, getting pregnant as teen won't be the best thing to happen to you. Don't be an attention whore.
It's okay to be a pregnant teen when you live like me, but if you don't, it's not okay. PAUSE before you PLAY.
And how did she become the face of avoiding teen pregnancy? Yea, when I think about whether or not to get pregnant, I think of a pregnant RICH teen....
I like how her "it wouldn't be pretty" room looks like a regular middle class big city apartment livingroom, and her attire is that of waking up on a Sunday.
What foolishness. The only more foolish person than a Palin is a Palin supporter.
"Bristol Palin made $262,500 speaking out against teen pregnancy on behalf of the nonprofit group Candie's Foundation, reports the AP. Yep, both the sum and the word "nonprofit" are correct. AP got the figure from the group's 2009 tax information. Think Progress provides the kicker: A closer look at the tax form shows that the group doled out only $35,000 in grants to teen health clinics."
What if my mom didn't help pay for my $172,000.00 house which makes me one of the very very few college students in the WORLD who have their own house upon entering college?
I wish people would get the message here instead of taking it the wrong way to make fun of Bristol. Those are the immature, stupid people on the board.
No she is saying dont look to her for a role model. Dont get pregnant as a teen you wont have all the support she has. She was lucky to have a rich family and she knows how hard it would be if she didn't! You guys probably got pregnant and now are mad at people who dont even know you trying to make a better life for you and your baby!
@RowanHood0 Are you f-ing serious??? Republicans are not interested in "making a better life" for poor single mothers at all. They are interested in helping the corporations that rape poor people. That is just another aspect of how messed up this commercial is.
I think all of you guys are rude! She is just standing up for what she believes in. Shes just saying that because of her family she has a lot of support.
How would YOU make this commercial different in her place?
The things people say on this kill me. All she is saying is she was lucky enough to be from a family like hers when she got pregnant, and not a lot of people are that lucky. She isn't insulting anybody. She's being realistic. Get over yourselves.
I don't think the Palins are exactly "rich". If they were, then abortion would be the order of the day. But yall keep up the class warfare like good little useful idiots.
@zivjax True her family's way more well off now post-election, but I'm fairly certain the Palins could have afforded an abortion for Bristol financially. It would have been political suicide for her tea bagging mother however. Sarah Palin's stance on abortion is pro-life, even for rape victims, unless the birth puts the life of the mother in danger.
You're right, it's not about class, it's about hypocrisy, politics, and religion (teaching abstinence as the only form of birth control.)
@zivjax You're the one who said that the Palins weren't rich because if they were then you're sure she would've had an abortion. Now you're calling it a murder that she'd have had to run off to get. This would confuse me if it weren't the same circles of flawed logic that most right wing arguments spin in.
I'm just saying this ad campaign does absolutely nothing to educate teens on any form of birth control other than abstinence and that is likely to do more harm than good in today's world.
Also, with your last sentence you've proven yourself to be more of a bigoted imbecile than I ever could have by dissecting your conflicting opinions. Good job! Go ahead, wear that hate on your sleeve, it makes it easier to tell swing voters what your party REALLY stands for.
How about: I'm a rich bitch from a rich family but I still couldn't be bothered to buy a condom! Don't be stupid kids, practice safe sex or dont do it at all. The worlds overpopulated as it is, and we don't need more Palin's running around.
I hope that all these videos one day are seen by her kid and it looks back and thinks, "Wow, mom. You hated me so much you made videos about not having sex to not have kids? What a bitch!"
Talk about admitting that you still don't want your kid.
@trivium666fan She actually didn't say that at all, she said that if she didn't have the support of her family or wealth, it would have been extremely hard to manage, and that's why teens shouldn't get pregnant since most people don't have that kind of wealth. I'm not a fan of her at all, just think you were completely wrong about your statement, I think Bristol's child would never think that about her mother...
Oh, no. I didn't say that she SAID that. But that's exactly what this commercial is, under the guise of, "I'm lucky my family is rich, or I would've been fucked. This would've fucked up my life." Essentially, it's regret. Kind of like when someone commits a crime, small or big, and they get away with it, but they still feel some part nagging at them that what they did was wrong, Bristol feels like this child fucked up her life.
Ok, I am 13. And a virgin. Staying a virgin for a long time. I don't want kids for a loooooong time. But, Bristol look who's talking. Seriously? Shes famous for getting PREGNANT AS A TEEN. She honestly shouldn't be talking.. -_-
@Miaka719 She's famous for getting pregnant. Not just her mom. She's on dancing with the stars.! I mean seriously sure she wants to learn from her, but yet she would rather be on commercials, dancing with the stars instead of taking care of her kid.
I have absolutely nothing against teen moms, good for them. I just don't like Bristol. She's famous for getting pregnant. Same with Maci, Farrah, Amber and Catelynn. But, I don't maybe I am to critical. But she annoys me.
this message should not just apply to teens, but there's also alot of parents that are 20 yrs older than teenagers who STILL are not ready to have kids. I think this message should mostly apply to the type of parents who always scream at their kids and beat them like animals. They're the type who are in the most desperate need for birth control
@panteirra84 Yeah but those are usually the people also stupid enough to vote for the Tea Party candidates so naturally it's in her mother's best interest for those people to spawn.
All I've got to say is if these tea baggers were able to keep their kids from watching Obama's televised speech on staying in school and studying in public schools, I should be able to keep mine safe from the Palin family's extremist catholic fear and guilt on network television.
@forevershining1 Because sex isn't a perversion? It's a natural impulse, and denying that sex is a part of life is like denying that the Holocaust happened. (Which I know people do, and those people are just as insane.)
@MisterFinnigan I know its a natural thing or whatever, but people should have the ability to say no. Stuff like this happens all the time, teens get pregnant, or the sluts that go get pregnant, don't know who the dad is, then get abortions that wouldn't have had to happen in the first place. i can see having sex with a long tem bf/gf, or married, but just to sleep around is preventable.
@forevershining1 Bristol Palin is teaching abstinence to the exclusion to all else. Abstinence-only education *DOES NOT WORK*.
Also, who are you to judge? "Cast not the first stone" and all that stuff. I had sex on a fairly regular basis with multiple partners (people I knew and talked to every day, mind you) and I was SAFE. The pill and condoms may not have a 100% effectiveness rate, but it's pretty damn close. The chance of pregnancy is so close to zero it's negligible. Only the...
@forevershining1 ...uneducated people (ie. the kids who are not given proper sex education) have problems with birth control (not knowing how to use it properly, condom breaking and not realizing it, using old condoms or condoms stored in your wallet, doubling up condoms, etc.) so it's really up to us to teach these children should THEY MAKE THE CHOICE to have sex with multiple partners.
Because that's what it is. THEIR CHOICE. Not yours.
Bristol is an outstanding young adult who is taking responsablity for her actions. We all know having sex as a teenager, or at any age, can result in pregnancy. And regardless of social class or anything else, teens just aren't educated or prepared enough about the issue. American families shun the idea of talking to their children about sex, thinking it's the school system's place to provide the info. I too was a teenage mother and speak from experience. Good job Bristol, let the world know!
@msfoxyfoss, its not hard to pull out, and its not hard to use protection it jus requires a brain.
as for talking to their children about sex, would that include, (correct me if im wrong) putting fear into children via telling them about diseases and the such, and saying if you have sex before your married youll die or grow hair on your hands from masterbating or the such?
as for schools i belive its BOTH peoples responsiblity but more so the parents but parents shouldnt do the above.
Annnnd on another note. Maybe we SHOULD start teaching our children the consequences of their actions. I think that is one of the major problems we have. People always wanting to "pass the buck" or look for "an easy way out." people need to THINK before doing something they might either regret or think about what could happen after.
DON'T teach abstinence? You are an idiot...Teach it ALL. And YES even the fact that saying NO is also a form of birth control, and also the ONLY 100% effective one at that.
I understand not everyone is going to practice abstinence, but to say we shouldn't teach it at all is totally ridiculous.
What is going to happen to this country's population in 50 years if poor people don't breed in large numbers? If only people like Bristol Palin, Mel Gibson, and Lady Gaga have children, America will have the population of France. Poor people breed and poor people are the bread and butter of our large ass economy. No mass population of worker bees no empire. Thats reality.
Ok, so I'm a single mom. and you know what, IT'S SO MUCH EASIER THEN HAVING TO HAVE A FUCKING MAN DOWN MY THROAT TELLING ME HOW TO RAISE MY DAUGHTER! I am a full time psychology student, and I work part time. I have my own 2 bedroom apartment with just me and my baby girl that is fully furnished and my daughter has everything she could ever need or want and she is so loved. WITH NON-FAMOUS/RICH PARENTS! So why don't you PAUSE before you flap your face dumb ass!
@shadowboxer2266 -------And mindless ppl like you can't see the forest through the trees. Did you not hear the words **WHAT IF**. Hey I got one,,what if you had a brain,,lol
i'm not promoting teen pregnancy at all i think its no way for a child to grow up and is a less than ideal situation but i think her saying that because she came from a famous family that she can raise a baby better is pure crap. it may help but just cause shes wealthy and semifamous doesn't mean her baby is better off
I really like this ad. It sends a powerful message. Not just "don't have unprotected sex" but also that without a good support system, you and your baby will not end up okay
While I am not a fan of Palin or her family, I respect her message she is giving. I, for one, encourage everyone out there to use condoms at the very least, and also birth control in conjunction until you're ready to have a family. These days, sex is as normal as anything else, and there is no suppression, so teaching about protection is the best way to go.
Bless her and this message. These words need to be heard and understood by women and men alike. Those that are in the shoes that she speaks of get this ad. Those that don't listen and continue to have reckless permiscuous sex will eventually pay the emotional scars as will the child, born or unborn, of selfish behavior.
@05mjdubb I don't even know what the hell you're replying to (since Youtube doesn't tell me), but I'm willing to bet whatever you have to say is just as retarded as most of the commenters on this video.
@MisterFinnigan - Here is my piece. Abstinence FIRST, but birth control education as a very important supplement. Teens should not be having sex for all of the obvious reasons, but if one does he/she needs to know about condoms and other methods. It's that simple. As far as Bristol is concerned, she is exactly right. Abstinence until marriage is the best decision. Of course, this is unrealistic for all teens and that's why there should be supplemental lessons on birth control. It's common sense.
@05mjdubb Oh now I see it. Your comment makes no sense because this little thing called birth control exists and keeps babies from being made. Bristol is very strongly against birth control, which is retarded because humans are OVERPOPULATING. Sex for pleasure is not unique to the human race -- monkeys, penguins, dolphins, and other animals have sex for pleasure, in addition to reproduction.
What a stupid hypocritical slut. 'Pause... before you play'. Can't wait for the kid to become old enough to learn through media fact that he was a fucking mistake, and that his mom was just lucky enough to be well-off.
"Pause before you play". So they advocate this "no sex before marriage"-bullshit yet at the same time they refer to sex as "playing" - Playboy comes to mind.
Everybody knows that the VERY states who have this kind of approach have the highest rates of porn consumption AND of teenage pregnancy! A phenomenon called HYPOCRISY!
Bristol Palin should brighten up instead of whoring for the religious fanatics who keep getting America into trouble time over time over time!
Ps i used my 13 yr old nieces youtube login to do this, however she laughed at this commercial as well as my entire community. Next time i suggest they use someone that doesnt seem totally addicted to attention. Great message for those who dont want a family and kids however i wanted a kid or else i wouldnt have had sex! it might been sooner however me havin sex basically said i dont give $hit which it best thing ever happen to me an its not as hard as they say unless u r 14-16 an u cant mature.
Ok I got preg when i was 17 an had my son when i was 18. I absolutely love it! i would do it again if i had choice! We support ourselves and we had no money i guess it depends on how much u can mature 4 your child! Me an the baby's daddy are still together and have been for 2 yrs! Has right message however seems more for attention like she had during her moms campaign! But i guess "our case is different" cause we are doin great on our own! As r several other girls my age i no! Ciara's was better
I'm sure that you believe Briston is just leaning on her Mommy and Daddy because you don't know the facts. Bristol works full time as a medical assistant, pays for Tripp's daycare and bought her own house in February, all thanks to BRISTOL PALIN. She was able to rise against the odds and make it on her own. I am still having a hard time doing so being a single, teenage mom. For me, personally, I can completely relate to Bristol and thank her for speaking out.
@sambosmom wow she makes enough money as a medical assistant to pay for day care AND buy her own home. Day care was a killer for me. i couldn't even dream of owning a home at the time. that must be one awesome medical assistant job. at the time i was struggling so much I was a professional librarian with a masters degree.
"if your not rich and famous, you can't take care of a kid and/or its near impossible" whatever, people do it all the time, she has it so damn good. I guess they were trying to make a good point, but they ended up insulting millions of young mothers. nice job palins. next time get better script writters. bristol has no clue what its like to truly be a young mother in modern day america. harsh i admit, but true
lol you people who are making ridiculous comments need to get the hell out. in no way is she saying that because she's rich that it's okay. she is just saying that if she didn't have all of those things, like support, and her family, then it wouldn't have been easy, and thats the boat that alot of teen girls who get pregnant are in. so shes saying think before you act so you don't get in a nasty position.
Bristol Palin used the dialectic system: She says "teenage pregnancy is terrible for the poor but this does not apply to me". So one can rightfully understand: "For me teenage pregnancy is no problem because I´m a spoiled brat with tons of money at hand and I can find some nanny to look after my baby." Bristol Palin started this not the commentators! Of course its a joke that candiesfoundation chose her as a "deterrent" then defuse her through this imbecile text. LOL
The only message I got was healthy pretty girls can have babies and its ok. If your poor and disheveled looking, press some sort of pause button on vhs player. Because with a couch like that you sure as hell dont have blueray.
People are so quick to take a good message and twist it. For crying out loud she is not saying you can only have sex if you come from a famous rich family. She is saying she made a mistake but she is lucky enough to have support. Not every teen mom has that same support and things could have been a whole lot different for her if she didn't have that support of her family!
She's not saying if you're rich then it's fine. She is saying that not all families back their teen daughters/sons that get or have kids at such a young age. Like my sister just had a baby at 18 and if my family didn't support her she would be screwed. She's not trying to say it's only okay for the riches but she's trying to say how much hard work is.
research shows abstinence education doesn't work. fact of the matter is, that shit'll only work on the people who really won't ever get any action - the nerds and goody-two-shoes that follow this stuff. teaching that teen pregnancy is bad is a good thing - but telling people the only way to prevent that is by not fucking at all is ridiculous. condoms, the pill.... there are tons of different contraceptives. damn ad campaigns.....
i think this this great. Finally a foundation with meaning. The world is already overpopulated the last thing we need are more teen mothers. At least stop the hateful comments she atleast did something like try to prevent others from making the mistake. And condoms dont always work.
How about "don't play until you're married?" Condoms break & pills can fail (and make you sick), so wait until you're in a secure, loving marriage. Premarital sex just makes you jaded, depressed, unable to bond fully with people, and untrusting. Sex is meant to cement people together for life, so don't "play" and expect no harms to come to you if you aren't MARRIED.
@StirlingVideoLounge Lol look at you and your inability to appreciate bodies as sensual organs. You must be a mine field of jealousy to believe what you do. Grow up.
@LeopardFrogPilboxhat actually what they're saying is that only the wealthy should procreate, but they've pretty much been saying that in various ways for years.
Yes, it's a good thing mom is rich and famous so she doesn't have to worry about the consequences of her actions. Pause, put on a condom, and then explore your natural human tendencies and urges.
OH. So, if you're wealthy and have lots of opportunities you can screw around but poor girls should know better. That's the hidden message here. Classist BS.
OH. So, if you're wealthy and have lots of opportunities you can screw around but poor girls should know better. That's the hidden message here. Classist BS.
Her intent was to preach abstinence but it failed big time. Listen to the ad very carefully, "pause before you play", she doesn't say do not "play". She is definitely sending a message to the poor not to have babies. Why, because you (we) are not as fortunate as her with a rich mother. Plus and I emphasize this, Bristol is getting paid big time for Not Pausing. The woe is being a teenage mother at least that is what she is saying.
Really? You effing little C word!

It's okay to be a pregnant teen when you live like me, but if you don't, it's not okay. PAUSE before you PLAY.
And how did she become the face of avoiding teen pregnancy? Yea, when I think about whether or not to get pregnant, I think of a pregnant RICH teen....

I don't think the Palins are exactly "rich". If they were, then abortion would be the order of the day. But yall keep up the class warfare like good little useful idiots.
zivjax 1 year ago
@zivjax True her family's way more well off now post-election, but I'm fairly certain the Palins could have afforded an abortion for Bristol financially. It would have been political suicide for her tea bagging mother however. Sarah Palin's stance on abortion is pro-life, even for rape victims, unless the birth puts the life of the mother in danger.
You're right, it's not about class, it's about hypocrisy, politics, and religion (teaching abstinence as the only form of birth control.)
Stripestore 1 year ago
@Stripestore That's a stupid statement. Bristol could have run off and got an murder on her own. The only tea-baggers are the homo-left.
zivjax 1 year ago
@zivjax You're the one who said that the Palins weren't rich because if they were then you're sure she would've had an abortion. Now you're calling it a murder that she'd have had to run off to get. This would confuse me if it weren't the same circles of flawed logic that most right wing arguments spin in.
I'm just saying this ad campaign does absolutely nothing to educate teens on any form of birth control other than abstinence and that is likely to do more harm than good in today's world.

CabbageTa13 1 year ago

Oh, no. I didn't say that she SAID that. But that's exactly what this commercial is, under the guise of, "I'm lucky my family is rich, or I would've been fucked. This would've fucked up my life." Essentially, it's regret. this message should not just apply to teens, but there's also alot of parents that are 20 yrs older than teenagers who STILL are not ready to have kids. I think this message should mostly apply to the type of parents who always scream at their kids and beat them like animals. They're the type who are in the most desperate need for birth control
panteirra84 1 year ago
@panteirra84 Yeah but those are usually the people also stupid enough to vote for the Tea Party candidates so naturally it's in her mother's best interest for those people to spawn.
All I've got to say is if these tea baggers were able to keep their kids from watching Obama's televised speech on staying in school and studying in public schools, I should be able to keep mine safe from the Palin family's extremist catholic fear and guilt on network television.
Stripestore 1 year ago
Why does everyone HAVE to have sex? Seriously just resist the urge.. perverted animals. Sheesh.
forevershining1 1 year ago 2
@forevershining1 Because sex isn't a perversion? It's a natural impulse, and denying that sex is a part of life is like denying that the Holocaust happened. (Which I know people do, and those people are just as insane.)
MisterFinnigan 1 year ago
@MisterFinnigan I know its a natural thing or whatever, but people should have the ability to say no. Stuff like this happens all the time, teens get pregnant, or the sluts that go get pregnant, don't know who the dad is, then get abortions that wouldn't have had to happen in the first place. i can see having sex with a long tem bf/gf, or married, but just to sleep around is preventable.
forevershining1 1 year ago
@forevershining1 Bristol Palin is teaching abstinence to the exclusion to all else. Abstinence-only education *DOES NOT WORK*.
Also, who are you to judge? "Cast not the first stone" and all that stuff. I had sex on a fairly regular basis with multiple partners (people I knew and talked to every day, mind you) and I was SAFE. The pill and condoms may not have a 100% effectiveness rate, but it's pretty damn close. The chance of pregnancy is so close to zero it's negligible. Only the...
MisterFinnigan 1 year ago
@forevershining1 ...uneducated people (ie. the kids who are not given proper sex education) have problems with birth control (not knowing how to use it properly, condom breaking and not realizing it, using old condoms or condoms stored in your wallet, doubling up condoms, etc.) so it's really up to us to teach these children should THEY MAKE THE CHOICE to have sex with multiple partners.
Because that's what it is. THEIR CHOICE. Not yours.
MisterFinnigan 1 year ago
Uh oh, no one told me what causes pregnancy!!
leenie61 1 year ago 2
Bristol is an outstanding young adult who is taking responsablity for her actions. We all know having sex as a teenager, or at any age, can result in pregnancy. And regardless of social class or anything else, teens just aren't educated or prepared enough about the issue. American families shun the idea of talking to their children about sex, thinking it's the school system's place to provide the info. I too was a teenage mother and speak from experience. Good job Bristol, let the world know!
msfoxyfoss 1 year ago 4
@msfoxyfoss, its not hard to pull out, and its not hard to use protection it jus requires a brain.
as for talking to their children about sex, would that include, (correct me if im wrong) putting fear into children via telling them about diseases and the such, and saying if you have sex before your married youll die or grow hair on your hands from masterbating or the such?
as for schools i belive its BOTH peoples responsiblity but more so the parents but parents shouldnt do the above.
PD19954 7 months ago
Annnnd on another note. Maybe we SHOULD start teaching our children the consequences of their actions. I think that is one of the major problems we have. People always wanting to "pass the buck" or look for "an easy way out." people need to THINK before doing something they might either regret or think about what could happen after.
gesuschic 1 year ago
DON'T teach abstinence? You are an idiot...Teach it ALL. And YES even the fact that saying NO is also a form of birth control, and also the ONLY 100% effective one at that.

Because uh, I don't have kids and never will.
MisterFinnigan 1 year ago
@MisterFinnigan - Here is my piece. Abstinence FIRST, but birth control education as a very important supplement. Teens should not be having sex for all of the obvious reasons, but if one does he/she needs to know about condoms and other methods. It's that simple. As far as Bristol is concerned, she is exactly right. Abstinence until marriage is the best decision. Of course, this is unrealistic for all teens and that's why there should be supplemental lessons on birth control. It's common sense.
05mjdubb 1 year ago
@05mjdubb Oh now I see it. Your comment makes no sense because this little thing called birth control exists and keeps babies from being made. Bristol is very strongly against birth control, which is retarded because humans are OVERPOPULATING. Sex for pleasure is not unique to the human race -- monkeys, penguins, dolphins, and other animals have sex for pleasure, in addition to reproduction.
Having a baby every time you fuck is not natural.
