@MrScottywolves they dont say the time but you can read the numbers ;-)it is 1:19.5 with the 300 ps atom supercharged (and he also says the honda cbr 600 rr needs exactly 4 seconds longer so that would be a 1:23.5 lap time).BTW a little later the Stig broke the track record with the atom v8 (500ps) with an unbelievable lap time of 1:15.1
@bam835 I didn't say a bike would beat it overall, Top Gear proved that with the Honda engined version, off the line the bike all but vanished into the distance but as it braked for the first corner the Atom slipped past and that was that, yes on the straights the bike could catch but not pass the Atom, purely because of it's track position. Yes it's easy math if you figure in corners and chicanes, I doubt it would be so easy over a long straight, I'll have a look around to find some clips.

The Veyron might have a higher top speed, but the Atom 500 has a power to weight ratio of 900+hp per ton, twice that of the Veyron. Plus the Atom can corner much quicker since it weighs a quarter as much as the Veyron. On a small track the Atom 500 would demolish the Veyron, but if the track were big enough for the Veyron to get up to speed it might have a chance.

It is also ready to strap on 2 turbos and slicks for insane lapping. The ZR1 is nicer on the road but slower on the track and a little pricier. Theoretically Atom accelerates from 0-100km/h in the same time as Veyron. Judging by many videos with Atom I've seen and by comments from drivers who drove it it's a lie. It is nowhere near 2.5s from 0-100 as claimed by manufacturer. It is also slower than Veyron from 0-200km/h and it's top speed is about 250km/h. Do the math.

I don't know how fast is the Atom Electro Version, but the Ariel Atom 300 (Supercharged) needs 10.8 sec. and the Bugatti Veyron 9.95 sec. on the 1/4 mile. Of coure the Ariel Atom is about 1200 kg lighter but, don't underestimate the 1250 Nm of the Veyron.

The first two drag races were done in an electric motor powered Atom chasis, not with the original Honda civic R motor. The electric version is called WrightSpeed X1. The race against the motorbike is with the original Ariel Atom driven by Clarkson on BBC's TopGear.
Correct, it's not an Atom, but it's not an X3 either. It's an X1. Also, there is nothing visually different(paint jobs aside) between an Atom and an X1(same chassis).

You do a great lap time by braking lately, keeping speed through the curves and tight turns and recaccelerating as fast as you can: all these things can't be done as well on a bike as they are in a car: tha's physics. A bike can only win on a very tight track where it will be able to cut where the car won't be able due to its size, on every other tracks, a car win, it has been proved many times in the past: search yourself.

@whatsthatfilm On a track it might be a pretty fair race between a Veyron and an Ariel Atom 500. The Veyron might have a higher top speed, but the Atom 500 has a power to weight ratio of 900+hp per ton, twice that of the Veyron. Plus the Atom can corner much quicker since it weighs a quarter as much as the Veyron. On a small track the Atom 500 would demolish the Veyron, but if the track were big enough for the Veyron to get up to speed it might have a chance.

Yeah that rider fackin ell, he was barely leaning and definitely not using the full width of the tyre. At the top end, yes cars are faster than bikes but the Atom isn't really one of them (other than the new one, the Atom V8)

Assuming the driver weighed around 200lbs, the weight of the Atom V8 would be 1233lbs. At 469whp, that's 2.63lbs/hp.
The Bugatti Veyron weighs 4162lbs and has 987hp. That's 4.22lbs/hp.
The Atom V8 would blow the Veyron away in terms of acceleration if it had the traction. It's closer to superbike speeds than it is to cars.

The Atom is a really good car, but the Veyron will eat it in a drag race. we cannot beat 1001 HP with a 300 HP Honda Civic-R Engine.
The actual Bugatti Veyron Supersport with 1200 HP owns the atom everywhere, even in a Race.

A drag car can turn sharp enough for most road in America so lots of people end up not caring about handling and only acceleration here. I prefer handling but there isn't a use here unless you pay to go on a racetrack. Europe is more suited for light, quick handling, small cars.

@ElhaymRabbit Yes, the ACR did beat those cars, but the fact of the matter is is that the ride quality is shit, the creature comforts are non-exsistant, and the car is entierly impractical (not to say that the others are). And the ACR was meant to compete with the new ZR1 and Nissan GT-R and out of both of them, I'd take the GT-R HANDS DOWN! Better comfort, equal performance, all for the same price. Plus I don't have to run a GT-R on diced lions and the blood of the Virgin Marry.

@RK1Hatty The ACR is a track day car. Not a road car like the ZR1 or GT-R. The ACR is seconds faster than both around a standard track. It is also ready to strap on 2 turbos and slicks for insane lapping. The ZR1 is nicer on the road but slower on the track and a little pricier. The GT-R is much slower and is the lowest quality of the bunch.

Theoretically Atom accelerates from 0-100km/h in the same time as Veyron. Judging by many videos with Atom I've seen and by comments from drivers who drove it it's a lie. It is nowhere near 2.5s from 0-100 as claimed by manufacturer. It is also slower than Veyron from 0-200km/h and it's top speed is about 250km/h. Do the math.

I don't know how fast is the Atom Electro Version, but the Ariel Atom 300 (Supercharged) needs 10.8 sec. and the Bugatti Veyron 9.95 sec. on the 1/4 mile. Of coure the Ariel Atom is about 1200 kg lighter but, don't underestimate the 1250 Nm of the Veyron.

The first two drag races were done in an electric motor powered Atom chasis, not with the original Honda civic R motor. The electric version is called WrightSpeed X1. The race against the motorbike is with the original Ariel Atom driven by Clarkson on BBC's TopGear.

You do a great lap time by braking lately, keeping speed through the curves and tight turns and recaccelerating as fast as you can: all these things can't be done as well on a bike as they are in a car: tha's physics. A bike can only win on a very tight track where it will be able to cut where the car won't be able due to its size, on every other tracks, a car win, it has been proved many times in the past: search yourself.
