Hello, I've just moved over to linux 9... I have just found this video, great, trouble they have moved the file to a dirrernt location, I need to find the 32 bit version, tried clinking on the one I could see at source forge but it does not install automatically... so sad, because as a mewbie I just need the automatic way, HELP! thanks all
@analyzingfunny did you add the repositories ??? with sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jre-phoenix/ppa and what ubuntu/linuxmint are you using? do this after you do that type sudo apt-get update (then after that do this: sudo apt-get install moblock blockcontrol mobloquer
take care now.. Do each one and remember to update after you add the repositories.I don't understand where you got the issue.remember after you add the repository do a sudo apt-get update .sorry didnt know you u did know this
Thanks to your vid!!! The instruction at the Ubuntu website were the same as your and it it great. But, I would like to try Tor, and cant find a deb package. Would you make a quick vid on how to install it and get ti running with Chrome and the ports?
Also can you walk us through getting Jack/Ardour running?
@analyzingfunny yes you can look at mobloquer. google on HOW to install mobloquer. you just add sources and you will get it on your package manager. good luck. IT IS MUCH BETTER than shit iplist - barely updates.
@Raja221 I have never done that, and still, why in the fuck does it have to be hard? Why cant I just push one button, load the fucker, then use it? Such bullshit....
@analyzingfunny because you can't use anything more than a point and click.. IF you want the best you need to work for it don't you? IF you want point and click then look for .DEB files. or stay with your windows.
@Raja221 Listen, i looked for deb files. Would you be so kind to make a video for us dumb asses on how to install programs from tar? Or, are you too high and mighty than that? I have not used Windows in over a year. I tried to download it, and looked for it in the package manager, but cant find it. It really does not have ot be that hard. Skype is one click, Mumble is one click, Chrome is one click. This is the stupid shit that will fuck up Linux for the average user. But,Ibetyoudontgiveafuck
then you will have mobloquer installed enjoy - (you just added it to your package manager and installed it) let me know if that helps. when you type your pass nothing will show but you are typing it (safety feature).
@analyzingfunny no need to compile mobloquer and it is much better than iplist .it get pdated better and that is what i use now. but if you wanna learn to compile software ill give you the basics here.you download the tar ball you extract it then you navigate to it with teh terminal >> cd /home/YOURNAME/Desktop/FILENAME (if its on your desktop) and then you tupe Make (then it will make the installation. then after that you type make install and it will compile it.but try mobloquer it is better.
@analyzingfunny deb files for iplist is there you go to iplist site (from google - cant type link) then go to files > ilst > and lick on the 0.28 version or 0.27 and you will find it.
@Raja221 Thank you so much, this was driving me crazy. I think I have it now. I swear I looked for it just like you said, but they changed the location since you made this vid.
@BugsVHumans to stop torrents its really simple man.. after your done downloading whatever you want. right click on the torrent and PAUSE it. you dont need a firewall to pause teh torrent. just pause it and keep ipblock running for few more minutes. then after you pause them and wait for few more minutes (to the attacks would stop) close ipblock :). is that what u were asking for?
@CultOfTheGlenda - Hey! Thanks for the tip, how do you do that exactly? I'm only a very beginner in Squid. Can you pls. tell me how to do it? That is, to disable the CONNECT method.
@BugsVHumans It is disabled by default; you must explicitly enable it for the services you wish to be able to connect through the proxy. There are many tutorials on how to enable it for various services.
@Lynnc83 nope man peerblock is only for windows. peerguardian windows and mac. and iplist/ipblock is for linux there is also another project that does the same but i never got it to work nice.
thanks

@analyzingfunny for ubuntu 10.10 / linux mint 10 (if you use it)-mobloquer:
open your terminal and copy and paste each line then hit enter (type your password and hit enter when asked.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:jre-phoenix/ppa
sudo apt-get install moblock blockcontrol mobloquer
then you will have mobloquer installed enjoy - (you just added it to your package manager and installed it) let me know if that helps. when you type your pass nothing will show but you are typing it (safety feature).

Hi raja, great video!
But can you make a video how to block torrents? I'm really confused.
Even GUFW for Ubuntu, I disallow outgoing connections, but it's still downloading torrents. Thanks.

Raja221 1 year ago
@Raja221 - sorry for being very vague, actually, I was asking if there's a program that would stop our office workers from downloading torrents.
But it's ok if that can't be done, we'll just stick with the memo and make it a policy. :)
BugsVHumans 1 year ago
@BugsVHumans I will send you a private message with a links on how to do it. you need a firewall or squid.
Raja221 1 year ago
@BugsVHumans Set up a squid proxy, and only allow internet access through the proxy. Disable CONNECT method with squid, and all p2p will be broken.

Hi. Great tutorial. Would you recommend using this always when you go online or just when you use bit torrents?
