Sir Rex's version is the better one(terrific masterpiece, indeed), but Eddie's one's not a dumb one, though I just prefer Sir Rex's one(It had black people, too, and I love black people!).

As you see, Sir Rex did musical while Eddie did comedy. They're wonderfully different actors in different periods.

I stand corrected, they made an animated version of jungle book of the 1942 movie in 1967 and did feature the song The Bare Necessities. Good call. That being said, however, there's no comparison between the two tunes. The Academy made the proper selection.

@Kericles Mrs Robinson is NOT their best work...if there is one massively overrated song in history, Mrs Robinson is definitely it. I love Simon and Garfunkel, but that song has become so overplayed that it's actually irritating. What about Sound of Silence?? Surely THAT is a bigger injustice to not see such a profound song get ignored by the academy. Overall, the score for Doctor Dolittle, in my opinion, definitely overshadows the score for The Graduate. It's just a better written score..
