  • so its fairly similar to skyrim?

  • @MrJakeFTW

    Yes

  • And I came across here by looking for some real lock-picking tutorial.

  • how do you get bobby pins?

  • It takes you a full minute to pick a lock?!

  • @NiMayne

To teach others how to do it correctly, yes. If I was just doing a normal pick and not trying to show people how to do it then I would of done it much faster.

  • @impersonator280 But moving the pin at such small intervals isn't doing it right at all, it's not so precise that you're trying to find a sweetspot the width of a hair

    @zacthebold Dude, it's a video game

  • If you pick locks for real then you know this is wrong on so many levels. First the keyway looks like a wafer lock that would be on a cabinet NOT A DOOR, such a lock would be child's play. Second until the lock is picked the cylinder doesn't move more than maybe 3 or 4 degrees not 45. Third it is incredibly difficult to pick using a screwdriver as a tension tool, it could be useful to turn the cylinder after it's picked if it's old and rusty.

  • i broke the lock what do i do know?

  • @AssembledTube

You either load a save going all the way back to before the lock was broke but I assume you've already made too much progress and don't want to go back so in this case: you'll need the key to the door. Not all doors have keys and some are only opened by NPCs I believe. Where's the door? I may be able to give you the location to the key.

  • @impersonator280 The safe in the school house. and yeah ive made to much progress but this video helped me make alot of caps cause i picked the door behind the counter in the big dinosaur and took everything.

  • @AssembledTube

For that safe, there should be a terminal nearby. Hack it and then select Disengage Lock. If you need help hacking it see my hacking tutorial.

  • @impersonator280 whenever i press f to force lock, it always automatically breaks.

  • @weeneytoddlover

If it automatically breaks then your skill is too low.

Press W to push the screwdriver and move the mouse to move the bobbypin.

  • @impersonator280 also, how do i push the screwdriver without f? what else do i press?

  • @impersonator280 helios one! rigth before you can get to the spiral part,PLEASE HELP

  • thank you

  • @iavkata11

If you broke your pins check out where to find more here: fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Bobby_pin

Check in the New Vegas section and all the locations will be there.

  • this works on fallout 3?

  • @Stewie5791

    Yes.

  • idk y but whenever i push "F" when pin just breaks even if i press it slightly

is there any way to make the button not so sensitive or something?

  • @bomis181094

Pressing F to Force Lock is based on your skill not on how hard you press the key. What's your lock pick skill?

  • @impersonator280 i just tried out and i got it:D you are supposed to move the screwdriver with w...i always was pressing F:D well thats a fail...anyways thanks bro for the help;)

  • well i have this problem where i got the skill to lvl 100, but it won't let me pick very hard locks, only hard locks maybe because it doesn't recognize my lvl 100 or something... idk

  • Don't ever force the lock it usually ends badly

  • @TheBrandonManSeries

A good tip, yes. It all depends on what your percentage of opening it is. I don't recommend trying anything below the 40s, only do that if you're feeling lucky (I've gotten away with it tons of times).

  • @TheBrandonManSeries in pc

    F5-F9 works well with forcelocking

  • i wonder what those two were doing behind a locked door...

  • wheree do i get bobby pins

  • @brofosho12369

Vault 3 has lots in all of it's aid boxes. They can also be found in cash registers, in any first aid boxes, on Feral Ghouls, and by Gun Runners is a small town of mailboxes with 2 bobby pins in each.

  • I'm finally getting an Xbox after 6 years, and New Vegas is planned to be my first game. But do you think Lockpick is the main skill to focus on? Which one should I go for to make my time easier would you say? XD

  • @Shadowfang3000

I'm always dependent on Lockpick so I recommend it. If you want to get free stuff and lots of it as well as caps for exchange for it then yes, definitely get Lockpick.

  • @impersonator280 My thanks :P

  • @Shadowfang3000

Don't forget about Sneak and Speech though. :)

  • @impersonator280 i find the speech skill more important, you can help yourself out of any situation by talking

  • thanks man i kept breaking either the bobby pin or the lock. mostly both

  • @icegold23 haha me too

  • that took more than a few seconds

  • @REGarry

Well if I wasn't illustrating what to do for people then I could get it opened quickly.

  • Today I leveled up my lockpicking skill to 100 and if i look in my skills it says 98(-) can anyone help ive already leveled up since and it says it can't go any higher...

  • @hackywacky97

Probably due to something you are wearing, you used (chems), or something else. Don't know what I could possibly tell you.

  • Where do I find bobbypins?

  • @LegitGamingco

Vault 3 has lots in all of it's aid boxes. They can also be found in cash registers, in any first aid boxes, on Feral Ghouls, and by Gun Runners is a small town of mailboxes with 2 bobby pins in each.

  • @LegitGamingco nowhere in particular, there especialy a good place to look in the other reply, if your on pc then i guess u could find an ID code for bobby pins and get unlimited using the ~ cheat

  • what if it's already broken (by me yes) :(

  • @joetjoepboy

Then the only way to get in is with a key. :(

  • @joetjoepboy Save before you pick a lock and if you break the lock just load the save.

  • it says i havent got the skill point requiered

  • @jacktroup

Then you have to raise your lockpick skill each time you level up. Here is the difficulties and the lockpick skill they require.

Very Easy - unlocked by default.

    Easy - 25

    Average - 50

    Hard - 75

    Very Hard - 100

You can also get temporary boosts to your lockpick skill by using Mentats, Locksmith's Reader, Tumblers Today and by wearing a Vault 3 Utility Jumpsuit or any hat with a +1 PER bonus.

  • @impersonator280 thanks it helped alot i just got this game for christmas im stuck when u have to find the police man in prim

  • @jacktroup

In the hotel? If you don't have the health you can just sleep somewhere for full health again (only on non-hardcore mode). But I recommend to do some exploring and then you can get more weapons. :)

  • @impersonator280 how do u sleep ?

  • @jacktroup

Find a bed and while looking at it (right by it) press E for PC, A for 360, or X for PS3.

  • @impersonator280 THANKS YOU HELPED ALOT *U*

  • where can i find bobby pins i am out

  • @zimlover12

Vault 3 has lots in all of it's aid boxes. They can also be found in cash registers, in any first aid boxes, on Feral Ghouls, and by Gun Runners is a small town of mailboxes with 2 bobby pins in each.

  • or if you really suck just drop all pins and press square or B on xbox360 hope it helps

  • This looks exactly like lock picking on fallout 3

  • @lafouboy2

    It is.

  • Thanks for this video - I must admit, I've always found this bit really hard (I literally move the pin around very slowly, listening for noises, then try and judge by the sound whether I've got the screwdriver in the right place). It seems like you can play it a bit more by ear (so to speak) and just judge by how much resistance you get from the bobby pin?

  • @adamlyons87

Yes, I suppose. I am use to the click sound after picking so many locks in Fallout 3 so I just know when to stop and when to go.

  • thanks it helped

  • gun?

  • @gtasafan5

The one I was using? Just a Plasma Rifle.

  • ive got 1k ov bobby pins and lost them al on1 dooor it just wont work

  • any console command on getting them or a nice shop ?

  • @traxgod2

    player.additem 0000000a 99999

Will give you 99,999 bobby pins.

  • So which is better to invest your points into? Lockpick or Science?

  • @astrogamer

Depends on what you want to do.

Lockpick helps a lot if you just like breaking into to stuff and getting loot. It also helps in busting into houses and stuff to get more loot and taking safer ways through buildings by lockpicking the door. But science will help with manipulation because by hacking terminals can lead to turning off turrets, robots, unlocking certain doors, etc. Science will be needed in certain parts of the story so in general you may want to invest with science.

  • lol i think my game is bugged or something cause i can force lock everything and it works yay!!!

  • On the 360 we have rumble for feedback when its going to break

  • Where do I find extra Bobbypins? (Noob at fallout :()

  • @Solektras

Vault 3 has lots in all of it's aid boxes. They can also be found in cash registers, in any first aid boxes, on Feral Ghouls, and by Gun Runners is a small town of mailboxes with 2 bobby pins in each.

  • WTF Thanks! Finally worked

  • Thank you!

  • @JackLewisification

No problem. A hacking tutorial will be up soon too so if you want to hack into the terminals REALLY easily then I highly suggest watching it.

  • Wonderful guide great job man!

  • @Ryuhayabusa0123

    Thanks!
