3:00 - 3:05 Brenda K Starr in the audience. She is the one who help jump start MC career, MC use to sing back up for her and remade her song "I Still Believe" in tribute to her to say "thank you for all that you have done for me" and they are still friends till this day. Thank you, Brenda K Starr without your generosity we would probably had never known MC, and she did a beautiful version of your original hit song "I Still Believe" of course, the original will always be my favorite version.
@alexanderdiaz1 yeah, i am really grateful for that also. brenda wasn't jealous or worried how mariah would have gone more famous than her. truly a genuine woman.
@kelvinpyaeko bye bye lady boy miss kim chee....mariah is still the best compared to the combined voices of whitney celine and charice! eat your rice miss flop!
@winwon74 of course, my favs are far far better than unknown-flop-rice lmfao..copy cat, fake ass diva wanna be, weak ass english, cocky bitch lmfao...stay mad that my favs shit on yo flop ooops
You can hear she was a little bit scared of performing and her voice was a little shaky cos she was not used to performing that much at the time. I'm not saying that like it's bad thing, it makes her all the more adorable! Can't believe someone with so much talent would fear but that's how it is.
you should never audition at the apollo they are a bunch of racist u have to be back to win the apollo if ur not black before u get to perform they will boo you oh and they always add people to their line up that are pros so it make it even harder for u to win and u must be black I gues this is how black people take revenge on other racis
@samuraifx101 Bitch shut the fuck up you sound ignorant as hell.the reason why black people win is because majority who perform on the show are black, just like the BET awards or the Hp-hop awards.
Get a damn life, just like u don't see alot of blacks at the country music awards.and people who are amateur get booed ass wipe.you come here to talk shit about black people, when you are probably most likely a racist person urself.
@ronnygk she can still sing soul music, she just sings more pop now.that doesn't mean she can't do this anymore.Soul isn't about big vocals,it's about the feeling.
I remember Apollo theatre used to come on Saturday nites around 11. I remember only having one television in the house. i remember this particular bc i knew Mc was going to be on. I saw half the performance then we had to shut the box off bc me and my uncle was fighting what we going to watch. I went to bed so sad... fkl
I love the way the audience goes crazy when she hits that whistle note (even though she didn't finish it, that "yeah, yeah, yeah" was great too). That just proves how MASSIVE she is! She can get a standing ovation before she's even through with the song!
where is vision of love i love that perfomance the look of disbelief, relief and excitement at the crowd giving her a stand up audition after she hit the high notes
This is how I like my Mariah: simple, raw and real. Not afraid to get gritty and change things up. She needs to return to her roots on the next album. Don't get me wrong, I liked E=MC2, but she needs to do a 180 to show people why she is Mariah Carey.
"Right To Dream" is a nice preview of a possible 180 in the next years, in this song her voice is very natural and relaxed. Agreed, she can do good music with the right Label (without Dupri around)
I agree about Right To Dream. It's a brilliant song when you listen to it. At first I didn't like it, but now I understand it a lot more. I love Dupri but I think she has gotten too comfortable working with him and she needs to try leave that comfort zone and experiment with some new sounds and let her artistry fully flourish like it did on albums such as Emancipation and Butterfly.
i love the simplicity of Right To Dream, she's making a turn in the right direction with that one. BTW, this performance is incredible. Even better than the Proctor Theatre, and that was pretty amazing.
@mvillareal15 yeah seen that one, was gd but didnt like it as much as this or tattoo club. The reason I like that one is cos she goes for all the big notes and the whistle note is the best. I just watched the Arsenio Hall though, and that was just as gd. I also like the Thanksgiving special 93 version too, cos her voice has a sweeter tone and sounds amazing

God I love Mariah, but I don't think she will ever have this much soul and passion again when performing live now a days.

@aquamarine11500 Yeah, but it just seems like a lot of her live stuff is really lackluster. Like she doesn't give as much energy as she used to. =/

@ronnygk She's got nada to prove anymore. So she doesn't give her all in her performances anymore, it's a bummer :(
