  • Hi I wish you success

  • @ylcn77ylcn Dude, that IS the song writer of the song. He is world famous...

  • i love this man

  • How did "you" (our he) play this ? Every fucking tab on the internet ir wrong!!

  • that chrome plated js guitar is so smexyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy dat even girls and cars will look pale ( well 4 me dat is )

  • Right on brother. Just play for fun, play from the heart. That's what it's all about!

  • What dvd are these clips from

  • I can play "You really got me" by VH like a mouther trucker!!

  • "NASCAR 99"

  • why is he talking wih all these guitar terms it realy confuses the avrege player

  • @mokadesx Cause we're not average.

  • almost as good as metallica

  • @espguitarsfly I'd rather say better than Metallica even if they're one of my favorite bands. Don't forget that Satch was Kirk's master!

  • @heatever Yea he also gave lessons to Alex from Testament! I'm guessing Kirk never made it to to the sweeping lesson lol. I wish satch gave me a lesson, then I could become a guitar master!

  • @espguitarsfly Better

  • Is that a chromeboy or just a regular JS model?

  • i wish i had the self discipline to learn all modes and scales

  • @1993epiphoneSG learn the major scale and you will have modes by the balls.

  • how would the js2400 do in heavy metal rhythm???

  • @onixtheone somewhere between fine and amazing, depending on the amp and on the type of heavy metal

  • As much as I think he is the best guitarist in the world, i really wish he would show us how to do it

  • @MsComputerSupport

this is like the most famous song ever :D Surfing with the alien

  • The 20 who disliked are fuckers

  • could u send me the tabs please

  • Would like to know if a cry baby wah pedal is ok for this song ... .

  • @TheJm0712 ibanez weeping demon is more suited and the digitech whammy pedal

  • por favor alguem que entenda de ingles pode colocar legendas

  • He's good but as he said back in 90's.. the student kicked teacher's ass..(kirk hammett) .. but this guy surely one of the greatest!

  • @9CRonaldo8Kaka

Are you saying Kirk Hammett is a more skilled player than Satch?

  • @airbrush4you No, but Kirk's solos are better (imo nhf)

  • @9CRonaldo8Kaka

To each his own bro! Kirk is not even in the same league as Satch

  • @airbrush4you What about One, fade toblack, dyers eve, mop?

  • @9CRonaldo8Kaka

    What about them?

  • @airbrush4you they are kirk's classic, much better than satch's.. that's why kirk plays for greatest band evah.

  • @9CRonaldo8Kaka

Wow! No bias there is there? Haha!

It's all good. Satch is a virtuoso guitarist according to the experts but I have never heard that about Hammett. ;-)

  • @airbrush4you ofcourse satch is, he is probably THE world's best guitarist, just, i say that i find kirk's solos more interesting, but satch is like AWESOME.

  • @9CRonaldo8Kaka

You do know that he has a SECOND pupil, right?

    Guess who it is...

    STEVE VAI.

And I am not someone to attack other peoples idols and Kirk Hammet is a skilled metal guitarist but comparing him to Satch is a it unfair for poor Hammet, since Satch is way better.

And just because Hammet learned playing the guitar from Satriani doesn not mean that he is anywhere close to Satriani's and Steve's league.

  • Very good!!! :D

  • hows that a surf lesson?

  • Cheers Mystic, I`ll give that a shot. The strings are fairly new, it`s always the thicker top 2; the rest are ok.

  • HEEELPPPP! When I move up and down the fret board on the top 3 strings it makes a sort of screeching noise as my fingers move on the frets? Can somebody help??

  • New strings might do the trick, or maybe you just need to take more weight off the fretboard when you move your left hand. Over time the skill of muting everything with your right hand develops, admittedly this took me many years.

  • LMAO when he said "G blues" his voice got high !

  • yeah nice potatoes like big japanese engine hi joe

  • isn´t it a bit to fast to understand hat he is doing ?

  • I wish I had one of those Chromeboys...

  • Joe is the coolest.

I've been listening and playing along to his awesome stuff for years now, and loved every second of it.

    These lessons are great.

A true musician always remains a student, so who better to learn from than the master?

  • Read guitar books, all you need to do.

  • OH MY GOD.

Ive been playin guitar for over 5 years seriously and i still dont know wtff he is talkin about..like all the domian pentanic n stuff. Is this normal?

Like how the heck can u memorize everything and know the exact little chord tappin or scale note and stuff.

  • ok.

take a C power chord, and remove the octave of it. that leaves you with a two note chord, 3a+5d, then play one note up on the D string, so 3a+7d, then play that two note C again, then sharp the A on the D string. this gives you 3a+8d. now let go of that A#, going straight back to the two note C.

  • yes you're not the only one ;)

i'm playing for 5 years this year and i'm going to follow some lessons again because i'm like.... wtf.... right now

  • Take lessons mate. I didn't know that stuff either. Been playing for a year and half and thanks to my teacher I know what it is.

  • @bonbond1 what you have to realize is that Joe Satriani has been playing guitar for a long time. I felt the same way (and sometimes still do!) when people start talking about different types of scales and modes. It takes time to learn about all the scales and music theory but you'll get it. You just have to keep playing and studying music. It'll all fall into place in time.

  • @bonbond1 don't worry about theory so much. some of the best guitarists in the world know nothing about music theory. i.e. brent hinds, and the dudes from protest the hero, etc...

  • @bonbond1 this is normal for true technical guitarists, and joe is the master technician. He is just speaking the theory language. Ive tried to learn theory but damm is it confusing. I resent the fact that I am a tab player but someday I will read theory:)

  • @croby14 You should took theary in school. It's prety simple.

  • @bonbond1

Completely. Satch is just epic awesome and we other guitarists have no idea what he talks about LOL

  • I wish I sucked as bad as Hammet.

  • i wish you got your head out of your arse and realise that hammett changed metal forever. metallica would not be metallica without hammett and metal would not be metal without metallica.

  • I think he was referring that rockstar guys comments in a sarcastic way, which is probably why he has 2 thumbs up on his comment when the other dude had like 10 thumbs down. I could be wrong though.

  • I think you missed the point. If hammett sucks as the other fella said. Then I wish I could play just as crappy as him...MEANING..Hammett is awsome. "Sarcasm" look it up.

  • That chrome boy is such a sexy axe dude!! Glad I looked up this song. Its fun. Solo is cool too!

  • i hope everyone knows that SATCH taught Vai and Hammet how to play and taught them the theory of how everything is supposed to go together.. so every1 just shut the fuck up and enjoy music the the time you spend talking shit on YOUTUBE can be used 4 better things..

  • his tone is beautiful. does anyone know what kind of distortion hes using in this vid?

  • @diazcamille I think he's using modern gain. you'll have that function on a V-amp from behringer that's an guitar computer with an build-in wah pedal. that's the most cheap way to create his sound. you also can check out his website or search on youtube for it i've seen lots of video's about what he's using like a satchurator or something (don't know excactly anymore) but good luck finding it!!!

  • wow. you guys are insulting people you never met in person over youtube comments. if you have a problem with a guitarist, make a video about it or something.

  • God how boring would the world be if every guitarist was as good as the next with same techniques, styles etc Every one is into different things and thats the great thing about music, theres something for everyone to enjoy. So who gives a shit if Satch nd Vai are "better" than Hammet, point is they all make fucking good music!

  • yes thank u

  • @manonmagiccarpet

Thank you, that needed to be said

  • @manonmagiccarpet cept for Hammett

  • @manonmagiccarpet hammet doesnt make good music.... hetfield does

  • @Fromac40n8 you mean to say "did"... The worst thing that group ever did was fire Mustaine. In return however, we got one of the greatest metal bands ever; Megadeath

  • @manonmagiccarpet well said man!! im into all sorts of music but for some reason when i play guitar i always seem to start with arpeggios on open chords then start rockin out on the same chords in 5ths. ive tried loads of time to change the way i play but its kind of automatic now. even when i start by strumming i still just have to pick a few notes from the chord before i move on. might be cos im shit i dont know.

  • @manonmagiccarpet

yeah but hammets solo's are shit :/

  • @GRRJayyy the shit more like it

  • @TheGuitaross ... nah, just shit

  • @GRRJayyy too bad they arent and you cant make anything bettter

  • @metallicamaiden01234 ... actually.. they are.. and actually i can :/ silly child.

  • @GRRJayyy yeah too bad you have no proof of that and child?

  • @metallicamaiden01234 check my videos mate.. one of them is pretty bad but apart from that my improv is better than hammets.. most peoples are really

metallica are my second favourite band of all time.. i'm not bias in any way, just not someone who bases all of my judgement on pure opinionated thoughts

  • @GRRJayyy ya sorry bro you definetely cant create better solos

  • @metallicamaiden01234 mate i could shit on my guitar and it would sound better

  • @manonmagiccarpet well said bro

  • @manonmagiccarpet fucking pussy

  • @cowinahorsemind little bitch!

  • @manonmagiccarpet wow that was uncalled for

  • @manonmagiccarpet Right?

  • @Atradaitoshi it helps if you watch and listen very carefully. I eventually figured it out on my own. You'll get it too.

  • @manonmagiccarpet Joes better than both of them cause he taught both of them... just saying haha

if you don't believe me go buy the joe satriani anthology tab book he says that in the interview in the front

  • Its not about who "The Greatest Gun Slingers" there are Satriani is great and so was Hendrix. When are people going to start realizing that its not about WHO the best is but what makes them so good.

  • I'd really like to hear one of those guys searching for "the best guitarist/drummer/bassist..." explain how you define "best" to begin with. Only a complete moron could even assume there is such a thing as "the best guitarist."

  • well put dude.

  • @Gilbertownsyou

Well said! I tell people that all the time. Was Rembrandt better than Monet? They are all artists of differing styles. We are blessed to have such a wide array of skilled guitar players in our lifetime....Hendrix, Clapton, Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Santana, Ronnie Montrose, Richie Blackmore, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, and the list goes on and on.

  • @Gilbertownsyou

no doubt!! you said it brother! still, Satriani is the best. j/k :p

  • ele tem os dedos muito elasticos ...

  • You almost never see him without his glasses :P

  • Didn't recognize him for a second without the glasses

  • everyone seems to forget about steve vai! :D lol idk joe and steve are both pretty good almost the same O_o and joe taught steve. but idk if steve knows EVERYTHING about music like joe lol but im pretty sure he does

  • About the comment on Kirk not making a mistake on his solo... Sometimes mistakes are what make truly great solos. Jimi Hendrix is considered #1 not for the speed of his guitar or the complexity of his licks but the fact that no 2 of his songs were ever the same, solos included. He also made a lot of mistakes during solos and even in album versions of his songs. But that is one of the main reasons he is epic... and tooth is right... Kirk was satriani's student.

  • Hendrix didn't really make mistakes, but there were no noise gates in those days & he used alot of feedback & other experimental techniques that made alot of noise, his playing was generally perfect esoecially as it was completely different every time. I think he was so great because he played with soul, but he is technically alot better than people regard him as. Just watch some of his solos at Woodstock. I'm not saying he could play like Satch, but he was rly good at legato phrases.

  • Check out the guitarists on candyrat records and Lawson Rollins (the fire cadenza, to start). They make Hendrix, and the rest of our beloved guitar heroes look human after all. If you're into guitars you'll appreciate these musicians. Just to warn you, it will likely change your perception on who the great guitar slingers really are!

  • Thanks I will, but Hendrix did look human & that was a big part of his playing, the kind of solos he'd play on the night reflected the mood he was feeling in. He could make his guitar cry & sing & shit like that.

  • Kirk Hammet, Steve Vai, Marty Friedman, and Tom Morrello were all Satch's students at some point

  • Friedman? Wtf? Go learn shit

  • Well you are obviously high.

  • I think kirk takes it very seriously and really tries to put emotion into his songs, while on the other hand, satriani is really laid back, he plays like he truely enjoys guitar more than anything, very mellow and very fun... it's weird to think that satriani actually teached kirk when they have such different music styles

  • kirk hammet is an ahole. he so cocky its not evn funny. if him and joe satriani were to get into a solo battle joe satriani would kick his ass! kirk is good n all but he touched jimmy hendrix's guitar. he thinks hes the shit wen guitarests like joe satriani can tear him apart. also, kirk doesnt evn know his own riffs. he has trouble learning thm and has to get help from the singer who is worse than him.

  • lol you kids who insult Kirk Hammet, haha you know Hammet took lessons from The master? Satch himself, so you cant really say shit bout him

  • It's great song covered by many people, but I think nobody can play it like Satch. He's great and his songs aren't just a sheet of notes, but soul, articulation and unbelievable feeling.

  • Is that a Peavey classic 30 he's playing through? With a DS-1? or Satchurator?

  • you know what would rock? of joe put up a video on youtube where its him, in his home, playing his songs sitting on his bed with a backing track. that would be so cool!!!! hes the down-to-earth rockin player that would do that kind of stuff, dont you think?? hes such a stud.

  • No Satch is so good that he's "Not From This Earth" and He's "Surfing With The Aliens".

  • he isnt really a metal player is he? he is just awsome.

  • he's just a guitar virtuoso.

    and yes, he is awesome.

    :D

  • He is defiantly not a metal player.

  • but he could easily play metal ;)

  • well i think the extremist goes a bit in the metal direction but all in all hes more fusion blues kind of a guitar player... excuse me, guitar GOD :P

  • Joe is sooo my favorite of all time!! :D

  • If my hands were so big as his, I would also play easily...

  • I wish my JS1200 was in chrome :(

  • joe satriani taught steve vai Spand89 for real go and look it up joe satriani taught steve vai everything he know for real

  • Yo! How can these idiots diss somebody like satch! Face it the fucking guy is a god. Look who taut steve vai kirk hammet. Man people dont know shit! Listen to some of his albums and say that you fool!

  • Seriously, I was just going to say! Satriani is a guitar legend like he is amazing and will be in the history books!

  • satriani teached tom morello and many others right...

  • i don't know about morello but he taught steve vai, and if someone like vai is the student then just imagine how awesome the teacher must be.

  • yeah, hes amazing :)

  • Heh, Steve Vai, Kirk Hammet, lots of folks lol

  • not morello he didnt

  • je+, dude, im "JorgeeLuuis" but this one is my other account...

Well, on Wikipedia says that Satriani teached Morello...

  • Tom Morello was trained by Michael Angelo Battio , he met him in college , also says on Wikipedia.

  • jmm... ok

  • Taught kirk hammet too (metallica)

  • wow, ok

  • mettalica are sellout fags

  • But Kirk Hammet is complete shit as a guitar player.

  • flextoneibanez, shut up.

    learn ur shit.

    idiot.

  • Why are we always having the debate of who is best?? It's crazy they all have their own stamp on music. It's a beautiful instrument, just fucking appreciate every one of them, hendrix, clapton, Van Halen, Lynch, SRV, Santana, Gary moore, Hammett, Dimebag, Bettencourt, satriani, Vai, McAlpine.... the list is endless, the talen aint!

  • well said...

  • Here we go again, YOU must be stoned!! you have missed the whole point of my comment have'nt you??? I made the point that the list is endless. I jotted down a number of guitarists but the character count prevents me from naming every fucking guitar player in the world either living or dead man. The list is of names is not the point.

  • when people play that intro why do they always go to the 8th fret?

  • because they dont think xD

i guess they read it exactly liek on guitar hero

  • how do you actually do that intro?

will some1 do a video on how to do that if it is possible?

  • ha you better than the satch yah right

  • yeah right loser

  • lol

  • of course hes better than satch... thats why hes on youtube showing us how to play a song thats been famous for over 20 years and satriani is some random nerd on youtube making himself look like an idiot.... duh

  • Guitar has evolved.

I know way more about physics than Isaac Newton did because a lot of the most basic stuff has been built on what he knew, but it wasn't around yet naturally.

I sure as shit am not a 'better' physicist than Isaac Newton.

  • RUH ROH!!!!!! I hope she dosent know where i live!

  • jimi could shred though it wasnt as big in the albums because it wasnt ast popular but i have a version of hey joe where he solos at the beginning and he play it fast and melodically and in all reality joe literally wouldnt be playing guitar if it wasnt for jimi he was a football player who wanted to be a football star but when jimi died he picked uo the guitar and quit football look it up oh plus he admitted hendrix was a better guitarist same with vai :P

  • Joe wouldn't be playing guitar if it wasn't for Jimi. Not many people would be. Just appreciate the artists for what they are. Some of the greatest riffs of all time are the easiest damn things to play, but they weren't easy when they didn't exist yet!

  • yeah, because jimi was the only guitarist in the fuckin world and nobody would ever play guitar if they didn't hear him...

jimi didn't have any influences and and was totally original

and he invented the electric guitar and he made up music theory and there were no guitarists before him....they all came after him.

  • yeah lol.

  • He made up music theory? Not very likely tbh... since it's hundreds of years old. I don't know that much about Hendrix so I'm not going to try and stab holes though. He's an ace player none-the-less

  • i suppose i shouldn't encourage the dragonforce vs every other band in existence argument... but oh what the hell.

i find that dragonforce sacrifices all aspects of its musicality for the sake of speed. I find that they have no real musical talent other than being able to play fast.

    As for hendrix vs Joe...

i prefer joe more. Hendrix is just too....

    psychadelic for me.

    too many drug induced hazes...

    xD

  • Satch is one of the few instrumental guitar players that has a GREAT sense of MELODY and song structure.

Vai doesn't have any of that. Same with Malmsteen. They are ALL over the place.
