The only way the unintentional comedy factor could be higher is if they showed more audience shots full of bewildered looks and everybody's mood noticeably lowering.
My favorite version, especially because this is performed at the MTV beach house, surrounded by people who probably made them outcasts in high school. ha.
The performance seems awkward and forced and they seem to be thinking "what the fuck are WE doing HERE" which is strangely appropriate. I wish they'd used the real chorus (with the word "fucking") and had just bleeped it instead of using the neutered lyrics, though.
Damn, Thom looks like Macaulay Culkin.

I remember seeing this back when it was on MTV and it is still my favourite version i've heard of this song.
The look and location seem at odds but they add a nice contrast to the song.
