I prefer to draw my animation on 2s and 3s rather than on 1s because I like to keep things simple. I do admit sometimes 1s are the most effective for some sequences.
I don't like animating on 4s because it looks to jerky.
At the Animation Courtyard at Walt Disney World, they say that they draw at 27 FPS... hm. Don't know why I even stated that. But I did. There you go. ^_^
Film runs at 24 frames per second, video at about 30. On twos, letting each image stay on the screen twice the time as it would in full animation (the timing difference between Hanna Barbera and Disney animation styles,) that would mean 12 or 15 drawings per second.
Animation looks fine on twos (not jerky - try animating on threes or fours!) but it looks even smoother on ones - the problem is that it's literally twice the work.
@SAGEmovieproductions Incorrect. It's being played back at 30 FPS. You're seeing duplicate frames, but each frame technically lasts 1/30th a second. If you count both frames as a single frame they combined last 2/30th's a second. It's still 30 pictures being shown within the scope of a second. There may only just be 15 UNIQUE pictures, but there are still 30 total.
@ragingchaosgod Film runs at 24 frames a second. Then TV runs at different rates depending on the voltage (i.e. country) that you are in. For the United States, the frame rate is 30 Frames Per Second (FPS). In England the frame rate is 25 FPS. These are the standards that you find.

Showing one frame twice at 30 FPS is 15 FPS.
SAGEmovieproductions 2 years ago
@SAGEmovieproductions Nope, it's still 30 FPS. You're just showing duplicate frames.

@Optics233
Yes, but it plays at the same speed as 15 FPS.

Hold up, small question. You guys run at 30 frames a second? Isn't the standard usually around 24 frames?
ragingchaosgod 2 years ago 15
probably because at 30 frames a second, it's alot cleaner and smooth.

@ragingchaosgod I wouldn't recommend 30 FPS. (Unless you want to make it VERY smooth)
